For outdoor enthusiasts, Black Mountain is only 10 minutes from the town of Montreat where you can find endless hiking trails that wind through lush rhododendron, along babbling creeks, and lead to cliff faces overlooking the valley and towns below. For bike enthusiasts, Kitsuma, an adventurous 4.5-mile point-to-point trail, or the new Gateway trails in nearby Old Fort, are local favorites and some of the best that the Pisgah National Forest has to offer. Dupont State Park and the Pisgah trails of Brevard are less than an hour's drive. The Biltmore Estate is a 15-minute drive. Other attractions in the area include Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and Mount Mitchell.
