Coconut Charlie's one story; 3 bedroom/2 bath vacation rental sleeps 10 and is located in Mustang Royale in Port Aransas; Texas. The modern kitchen is fully equipped and has easy access to the patio in back for food service. Enjoy roku/ sling tv and internet service with flat screens in all the rooms. Master bedroom has a queen bed; en suite bath; and a built-in desk for those who must bring work with them. The front guest room has a queen bed and the second guest bedroom has a futon and bunk beds. Perfect house for our family & pets!

We love the house, it had plenty of room for our family of 5 & 2 dogs. The house is a short distance to the beach, we would walk everyday. We would stay again.

It Worked for Us!

This house was close to the beach and had everything we needed. It was open, clean, and well equipped. There was a great boardwalk to the beach that also accommodated the golf cart we rented. It is in a quiet neighborhood and the adjacent beach was populated by families and uncrowded. It provided a great getaway for our family! A big plus was that it accepted our miniature Schnauzer and is owned by dog lovers.

Celebrate moms 80th birthday

We had an excellent vacation to celebrate my mom’s 80th birthday and this location is in a beautiful housing area along the coast line. Exactly is amortized and clean and comfortable and beautiful inside and I highly recommend. I will reserve this location again.

I left some personal items at the property; called and reported it ; and have heard.

I would not stay in any property offered by Silver Sands Vacation Rentals again as management wasn't sensitive to my loss and someone stole my personal items as it stands now. That's what I'll report to others when ask about my experience with our rental.

Pretty, but broken

The house looked adorable inside and out. Unfortunately, until we started using it. The entrance door stopper was broken and garbage on the floor. Some of the towels were gray from being so old. Master bedroom bed was atrocious! It was basically put together with whatever foam mattress they could find. It screeched with every move. The linens were disgusting, old, and the bed was barely made. No towels.in the bathroom. The bunkbed broke on the 1st night. The beach chairs were filthy and one chair was completely broken. In addition, the management was very unaccommodating. I asked in advance if we could check in earlier and was told to call on the day of. We arrived early, at 11 and saw the cleaning Cree. I called at 2 and was told that it will be impossible to check in early. We walked by the house at 3 and there was no one. It was clean and ready. I called to check for the earlier check in and, once again, was shut down with "no" and "the cleaning crew is working there", which was not true. Bottom line, I do NOT recommend this company and the house, unless the company changes its attitude and the home owner fixes things.

Partial refund request poor conditions

Upon arrival there was toilet paper left on the toilet - guest bathroom There were only 3-5 towels in the entire house for all of us to use for showers. Nobody could use the guest shower because the water pressure was non-existent We wanted to use the grill, unfortunately it was dirty and the grates were falling apart due to rust. Safety hazard Then we wanted to use the fire pit but there's a huge hole in the bottom of the fire pit making it non-functional. Safety hazard Deck has loose boards- my brother in law almost fell through it. You'll know which boards are loose. Safety hazard Outdoor shower did not drain. Lightbulbs were out and not working in lamp in living room, and master bedroom fan light. There was an entire swamp in the backyard that had an entire mosquito colony thriving. We were unable to sit on back deck because of this. Yes, we even had bug repellent. However, there were so many mosquitos breeding in that swamp that OFF bug repellent did little to nothing. Safety hazard House took 6.5 hours to drop from 77 degrees to 73 degrees. We were all sweating! Safety hazard Because of these issues I am requesting a partial refund for our stay back to the credit card on file.

not a clean or comfortable property.

This property needs work. We stayed here because we needed a 1 story for my dad. He is on a walker and can't go upstairs. When we got to the house is was dirty. The bedding felt horrible and there was sand in the bunk bed sheets. We stripped all the beds and washed then they felt much better after that. We did contact property management they were very responsive but told us they would let the cleaners know. The bed in master and in the 2nd bedroom need to be replaced. They completely sink into the middle and are extremely uncomfortable. Master bathroom we did not use the bath. the shower smelled like pee even after we cleaned it. kitchen is not well equipped. I am not a fancy person but the pots and pans were like if past guest just left things behind. so range in size and just not everything you would need. We went and bought a sheet pan for the house because there was none. (along with other items) They didn’t even have sponges to wash the dishes. The decor is falling apart, the house needs to be painted and the furniture was not good. Kitchen chairs are falling apart and honestly a safety hazard. The couch was the only thing I can say that was nice. The ac would constantly go up to 78. We had booked this place for 8 days my mother and father could not handle being there and left on day 3 because of the bed sinking in and the cleanliness. I bought cleaning supplies and cleaned the house. There is also what looks to be mold under the cabinets closest to the refrigerator. We stayed 7 days and left a day early. We stay in vacation rentals often… 4 just this year. This is the lowest-rated place I have ever stayed. buy clean supplies, buy kitchen items, toilet paper, beds uncomfortable, and I didn’t even mention the futon in the kid's room itchy, and rough, blinds are broken in kitchen and bedroom, walls have had paint rubbed off, rusty buckets stuck to countertops in the kitchen.

Disappointed

Not a clean property, mold in showers, back deck in bad shape needs replacement. We showed up 45 min early and called for an early check in was told it needed to be inspected. It didn’t need to be inspected because we came back at 4 and they were cleaning. No way they cleaned the house effectively in 45 min. If it’s silver sands rental property stay away from them.

Great location & beach access. The only complain I have are the TVs. We do not have all these apps that are out now for TVs so we never could watch anything for 4 days!! Not even local news!! Extremely disappointing and there should be a way to get local channels for people Who do not have Hulu, Roku, Netflix, etc. This was a vaca to relax and it was boring at night without TV!! Golf cart broke down within 4 minutes of driving it down the street but Silver sands came to rescue. I do feel like a lot of their carts are old. The same thing happened to me 2 yrs ago. The house was not very clean. There was sand on the couch in the bedroom, food left in a bedroom and a tube of KY was left in the drawer where the teenage kids were staying. Lawn was unkept. Every time we stepped out of the car we had pickers jabbed into our sandals or feet. Bed was so awful it was hard to sleep and pillows were flat. I also didn't realize the house was so far from the beach. It's a good thing we rented a golf cart because there is no way we could have walked that far with all of our beach items.

Coconut Charlie's MR135

Never been disappointed with a Silver Sands rental but this was not a good one. I don't think the house had been cleaned because there was alot of sand inside that we swept up when we arrived. The backyard had not been mowed in a few months, and the front was just a full of little sticker bur bushes. The deck needs to be replaced, rotted wood, a huge hole in the back was covered by a pot, nails sticking up. The dining table chairs were "sit at your own risk" as the wicker was worn and chairs unstable. I liked the little touches of home, but the kitchen supplies were sparce. Not even a can opener. The coffee maker was half filled with something when we got there but I don't know what. This place, with the exception of the couch, was furnished with secondhand flea market acquisitions or the owner's stuff that they no longer needed and wanted to get rid of. Overhead bedroom fans did not work. In one bedroom the fan would not come on at all, and in the other bedroom fan didn't work because it was controlled by the wall switch and it never came on. Lighting in the bedrooms was extremely poor. Called Silver Sands maintenance but no one ever came out to repair. Gave it 2 stars because A/C did work. Do not recommend. Beach was great.

Renter beware!!

We really thought we were getting a little gem of a house based on the photos, but we should have read the recent reviews. This house is in much need of some major love. The yard is not maintained, full of stickers and the pots around the porch are full of weeds or used as an ash tray. The house itself was not very clean, left over food in the dresser. Dishwasher doesn't clean well. We had to clean the house ourselves before we felt okay to be there. There was a blind in the kitchen that was broken and hanging. Water damage under the cabinet and zero baking dishes/cookie sheets which is usually normal in a rental. There were words scratched into the living room wall, the chairs for the kitchen table were uncomfortable and worn. A bedroom fan didn't work and the light would never completely turn off in the master. The back porch is rough and the tall grass seemed to attract the bugs! We only had 4 bath towels for 8 adults and after calling the office, we never received any more and used our beach towels. Other than the actual house issues…we loved the smart TVs and the location to the beach. Renting a golf cart is a must! While I will go back to Port A, I'll find a different house and company to rent from next time.

OK for 1st Time to Port A

Nice community and location for families. Good value for busy Memorial Day weekend and late booking. The management company does a good job with email communications. The exterior of the entry is not inviting with poor lawn maintenance - weeds, stickers, and dead plants in all the planters, pots - front and back. Interior has broken wooden window shades and deteriorating wicker dining chairs. No amenities like trash bags, laundry soap, dishwasher soap, etc. For a first beach trip little kids this house was OK but will look for a better maintained and updated property in the future.

Some FYI

Yard in need of cutting full of burrs and fire ants. Safety bars would be a great help for seniors. Some ceiling fans not working.. a broom and dust pan would be helpful

Coconut Charlie’s is awesome!

The overall stay was fantastic. The house was as clean as I’d expect a beach house to be and had a lot of amenities that are great for the family. There was a pool, a bbq pit, Netflix, a nice kitchen, and the house itself is great for 8 people. Highly recommend getting a golf cart to ride to the beach if you have a large group or plan on going to the beach with things like shade and ice chests. The management company is fantastic and we’re very attentive to any issues. 4 1/2 stars easy. We will stay again in the near future.

Our stay at Coconut Charlie's

The location was wonderful, so close to the beach and a short drive to the main strip of Port A. However, the house itself had some issues. The grill was not gas but charcoal. The couches had fine layers of dust/dirt on them. There were bug carcasses in both bathrooms and kitchen. But the worst was the dirty dishes in the cabinet and the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. I'm not sure the cleaning crew had even cleaned the house.

Disappointed / Dirty Furniture / Roaches

Location was great...that's the best thing we can say. Outside: Yard was unkept, tall grass in the back, Deck shower was filthy could not use Inside: The furniture was filthy and uncomfortable, did not sit on the couch, cushion's were shot and offered no support. Killed numerous roaches, even one that crawled across my foot. We even departed a night early. Needless to say would not recommend this location and even a partial refund would be appreciated. The exterior of the house needs a little TLC. The yard needed mowed.. it was full of grass burrs we discovered after our little yorkie was covered in them! The exterior of the garage door was rusting and a vertical rail on the front porch was coming off. The interior was very clean!!! The location was great for us!! The garage was usable so we parked my big truck in it and rented a golf cart to go everywhere!! The cart is a must here. They have a boardwalk you can drive the cart to the beach all the way to town to eat. The neighborhood was nice and quiet! The view looking out the front of the house was beautiful when the sun was setting!! We sat and watched it every night! With a little more TLC this place would be a 5 star.

Some good lots of bad

The house itself was ok, but there were some serious issues the owner could have taken care of before renting it out. 1. Pest Control: There were small roaches in the silverware drawer and crawling on the kitchen counter. 2. Unusable yard/Stickers: The back and front yard were infested with very sharp stickers that got our dogs pretty bad. We had to remove them with tweezers one by one. My smaller dog was screaming. We also got pricked lots of times as there were also stickers throughout the house on the sofa and on chairs and beds. The owner claimed they didn't know about them, but stickers don't grow overnight. The cockroaches could have been taken care of with proper pest control. 3. Soiled and old furniture/Linens: The red sofa was terribly soiled and smelled bad and the linens on the beds were old and thin. The good things were the kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans, the house was very quiet and the water was hot but bad water pressure. It is the best location just give min walk to the beach. The owner just needs to step up and update the house with new bedding and new sofas And also take care of the yard. We were also unable to use the pool as it was closed. We were not offered any compensation for the missing amenities (yard and pool) which was very disappointing. We would not stay here again.
