The Surf Shack - With direct beach access

Everyone who lives in Nosara has a story that usually goes like this: "I came here on vacation and decided to stay!" Well, our story isn't much different except that it was over 20 years ago, before Nosara was discovered. Thing were quite different back then. In the "wild west" days of the late 90's, traveling to Nosara during the 6 months of rainy season was highly unpredictable. Surrounded by impassable rivers, mountains of mud slides and the mighty Pacific Ocean, traveling to the beaches of Nosara was not for the faint of heart. The search for waves and the spirit of adventure is what lured us to Nosara, where we met, out in the water on a glassy July morning, at the end of our coveted beach trail. We can still occasionally be spotted out in the line up, sharing waves with our 3 children while our dogs play on the beach.

There are 3 entrances to our 3 mile long beach of Playa Guiones, Nosara: North , Main and South. The North end of the beach has long been our favorite spot. The South end is the residential zone without any services. Main is the busiest with the commercial centers. North is less crowded and close to picturesque Playa Pelada, which is a short 10 minute walk over the point. The village of the North End has a nice balance of restaurants, markets, bars and activities.

Iluminar offers a yin-yang vacation experience: we are located on a quiet side road, just 1/2 block from the main road in our quaint North end village but also bordered by the beach refuge. Behind our garden walls you will find a private, quiet respite in a peaceful garden with the ever-present lure of mother oceans song, yet a convenient 3 minute walk to dining and shopping.
