Mango Cottage ist eine süße, abgelegene Landhaus, umgeben von wunderschönen tropischen Gärten und mit einem Tauchbecken, umgeben. Eine große luftige Wrap-around-Veranda mit Hängematte und Liegestühlen hat auch im Freien speisen. Die knackigen modernes Interieur mit original art, freiliegende Holzbalkendecken im Schlafzimmer und Badezimmer mit Marmorfliesen alle bieten dezenten Luxus. Mit Wi-Fi, eine iPod-Dockingstation und einen Flachbild-TV, wird modernen Komfort mit rustikalem Charme kombiniert. Das ganze Haus kann klimatisiert werden, oder mit den Fans in jedem Zimmer, die Sie die tropische Brise genießen können. Das Hotel liegt auf einer Anhöhe auf der Südseite der Rodney Bay, 2 Minuten zu Fuß gelangen Sie zum schönen Strand, Supermarkt oder Einkaufszentren. Dutzende von Restaurants und Bars sind nur wenige hundert Meter entfernt. Der Garten hat Obstbäume, Orchideen und schöne Blumen, und es gibt einen fantastischen Blick auf Pigeon Island und das Meer aus dem Schlafzimmer.

We spend 5 days at the Mango cottage in August 2016. I have to say the cottage is nice, especially for a couple. It would be OK for a couple with 2 children but certainly not ideal for 4 adults. The kitchen is very small, the living room is small but there is enough space for 2 children to sleep in. The main bedroom and bathroom are perfect.
The landscaping: Wow, this is the highlight. The plunge pool is perfect for hot days. Everything is kept pristine on the surrounding part. However, as everything seems to be a garden of Eden, you better bring a good set of hear plugs. When day turns to dusk and you thought locusts would rule the world, it’s not necessarily the case. On Saturday, Sunday and Monday that we were there, a primal battle between locusts, karaoke and neighbours guard dogs was happening until 2 or 3AM as far as the music was concerned. I have to say the music (not the dogs) was pretty quiet Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
My last point would be on Chantal. Chantal is the very nice and low key house keeper that will come almost every day to do the cleaning and your laundry. Having Chantal there every day is like having a 5 star service facility. Her big thing is that she will offer to cook you a real creole dinner. First, make sure you make it happen at the beginning of your stay there because she will cook you 3 meals worth. The food was very good and I think as local as it can get. There are just 2 small problems with this. First, as almost every dining-out option in Rodney Bay, the dinner she will cook will also be up there in price. I mean on the level of the priciest Rodney Bay restaurants. To get a cooked meal from Chantal will cost you 50$US per person of ingredient and 25$US per person for her cooking fees. So, for a couple, it was 150$US for the dinner. The problem with this is the cost of ingredient she charges. There is absolutely no way the dinner we had cost 100$US of ingredients (local fruits, local vegetables and local fish). Even by Rodney Bay supermarket standard, it is worth 30$US. So, me and my wife were expecting 100$US of ingredients in our plates and that was not the case. Again, don’t get me wrong, the service charge is fine by me (could be higher even). The problem is that if you tell me you need 100$US for the ingredients, I expect 100$US worth of ingredients. We ended up telling ourselves that the 70$US of ingredients we did not get in our plate was a very nice tip for the cleaning and laundry she did for us.
The cottage is indeed from the exterior a pretty little jewel set amongst Mango trees and is literally a 5 min walk to both the beach and shops. Chantal the housekeeper is a dream and a lovely lady. However I think it is important to point out the following.
The sofa and seating outside is cobbled together with ill fitting cushions so you cannot sit anywhere comfortably. The bathroom which is upstairs and adjoining the bedroom does not have a door on it so there is no privacy. The bath tub has a large hole in it, so you can have a shower so long as you don't mind the total lack of water pressure. Everything works (just about) however this property would benefit from a serious upgrade in everything to make it a comfortable break.
Beware at nights the continual barking from the dogs and watch out for the loose paving slabs in the garden.
I'm sorry to say we checked out 5 days after we arrived for what was meant to be a two week stay - the place was just too uncomfortable and noisy for what we wanted from our break,.
The house provided the privacy we wanted, yet was within walking distance to a beach and restaurants. We rented a car which allowed us to explore the island and visit other beaches and sites on the western side of the island. Our favorite day was the morning exploring Pigeon Island and relaxing on the small beach then going to the Naked Fisherman restaurant at Cap Maison for a late lunch and swimming at that beach. It was always perfect coming back to the cottage and having a dip in the plunge pool. The caretakers of the house were very gracious and kept the house, garden and pool immaculate. We highly recommend this cottage and hope to visit again.
My wife and I spent four nights here and enjoyed every minute. Not only is the cottage walking distance to the town and Reduit Beach, but the on-site plunge pool and veranda were wonderful places to spend relaxing time. The accommodations were perfect. Vern Barnard, the proprietor could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Be sure to visit Marie's Fish Shack at the south end of the beach. Thanks again, Vern and Chantal for all you did.
We spent our honeymoon at the Mango Cottage and we loved it. The cottage is located near the major shopping center and the street full of restaurants. You definitely won’t need a car to get around unless you want to travel around the island. We rented a car, but driving in St. Lucia was difficult (narrow roads, heavy traffic). The beach is also very near (about 5 min.) and although it is a public beach that gets crowded on weekends, we were able to walk further from it and find a quiet spot. I would definitely recommend brining the ear plugs as it can get pretty noisy during the night since several properties surrounding Mango Cottage have guard dogs that tend to get loud during the night. The house keeper Chantal is very kind and carrying. We absolutely loved the Carambola (star fruit) tree that grows on the property. We've never tasted better star fruits!
Mango Cottage exceeded all of our expectations during our honeymoon. The cottage was located in the heart of Rodney Bay and thus we ate, socialized and experienced all of St. Lucia as if we were citizens. We booked all of our own excursions with Viator and Island Expo and dinner reservations at Cap Maison and saved a lot of money without comprimising the quality of our vacation. If you book with Mango Cottage please request that Chantal prepare an authentic St Lucian dinner. It was simply amazing! I am so glad we made the decision to stay in Mango Cottage.
Rodney Bay ist das soziale Zentrum der im Norden der Insel. Mit herrlichen Stränden und Wassersportarten, dem internationalen Yachthafen, Einkaufszentren, Dutzende von Restaurants und ein pulsierendes Nachtleben, gibt es wirklich für jeden etwas. Es ist auch in der Nähe von Gebieten von historischem Interesse wie Pigeon Island (Heimat der St. Lucia Jazz Festival), und das idyllische Fischerdorf Gros Islet, der Heimat der Freitagabend 'springen'.
