We loved the house and everything about it - the screened-in porch, pool, and dock were all favorites. Also we love Anna Maria and being able to walk or bike anywhere was perfect.

This home was easy to book, no issue with the management company. Everything was clean and prepared for our visit. Beds were stiff, but it is a rental. Dock access was great, kids enjoyed kayaking. The pool was heated and ended up being very needed. Beach and shops all are well within walking distance. Overall this place was definitely 5 stars, great location and quality.

Just a fun gettaway

Had a great stay at the Mermaid house. The house was perfect for us and in a great area on a canal, kept the bay boat at the dock the whole time and the local boat ramp was close by. Will definitely stay again!

Great location!

The Crazy Mermaid has a fantastic North End AMI location. Everything was great, except the kitchen cookware, utensils and glassware are very used/beat up - definitely need to be replaced with fresh kitchenware.

AMI Rocks

House was perfect for our needs. Large bedrooms, lots of room to spread out. Layout is perfect for 2 families with 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 downstairs. Great location and perfect water front access. Would definitely come back.

Family reunion at Crazy Mermaid on Anna Maria

We had family from Belgium, Denver, Texas, Minnesota and Florida. We rented two houses with ours being the Mermaid. We found the home clean and comfortable, close to Pine St and the City Pier. We had 7 adults in the home and all were comfortable. We would gladly stay there again. Great vacation spot!!

Family get together

Rented the Crazy Mermaid for a week in February. It was the perfect place for my three adult children and two of there spouses along with three granddaughters all under age 4. The pool was heated and enjoyed by the kids and the beach was readily accessible by walk or car. The back bay City Pier was just a short walk. Not the swankiest place I've stayed but perfect for a family with a good "lived in" feeling.

Outdated doesn’t Eclectic

Very very outdated house. The old chain link fence takes away from the nice back yard and pool. Location is good especially if boating. The dock is nice minus the garbage in the fish cleaning sink. There’s nothing horribly wrong with the house, but there’s nothing right.

Amazing!

Our stay at Crazy Mermaid was fantastic! The house had plenty of space that fit all 8 of us more than comfortably. Beds were cozy and house was stocked with everything we needed- dishes, linens, etc. The pool, where we spent most of our time, was perfect. Property owners/management were accommodating and very easy to get in touch with. Highly recommend this property!

Spacious house, good location

We stayed for 3 nights for a girls' weekend. The house is on the canal and walking distance to restaurants, shopping and a beautiful beach. 4 bedrooms and 2 baths were great for the 5 of us. There was good hang out space inside and out by the pool and in a screened in porch. Kitchen has everything if you want to cook and there's a grill. House is dated but clean and couches are new, as is the grill. Property manager was very proactive with communication. Great value

Pool heater broke so pool was cold. But host was very responsive and tried his best to do what he could on a weekend to get it addressed. House was very clean and in nice neighborhood.

Crazy Mermaid Feb 2025

Pros: Great location, can walk to plenty of restaurants, bakeries, beaches. Very functional layout with plenty of space for our group of 6. Large bedroom upstairs is really nice. Listing was accurate. Host was very responsive. Cons: Musty smelling, primarily in the entry way area. Certainly could use some maintenance (paint on the porch floor and steps, etc). Could use a new queen bed on the first bedroom on the left. Kitchen could use a review of dishes and utensils. Didn't seem to have much for drinking glasses, but had so many utensils the drawer was breaking.Overall: We had a great time meeting up with the family. The place works, would stay there again. If it were improved too much, I couldn't afford it!

Crazy Mermaid

Roomy, needs more comfortable bed on main floor. Needs nicer sheets. Pillows 😢. Yes, the door buzzed as everyone says to walk out to the screened porch. Not enough time to get out the door. My husband fell trying to get out & is all bruised up. Need grab bars in the shower. Luckily. I was able to reach him, so he could bring a math mat due to the tub being slippery. Sure wish they had bikes or kayaks we could have used. Nice pool. Loved the canal view. Quiet street. Wish the neighbors across canal had dimmers on their bright lights at night. I wanted a place with a pool, canal view, screened in porch and laundry this had all. It was only my husband & I. I don't understand why the rate Included almost double what we were charged per night for a cleaning fee and some other random fee. Pretty ridiculous. We only used 1 bedroom & 1 bath. I wish more places had closet up mirrors. Not as nice as photos made it look. But we enjoyed Anna Marie Island.

The home is dated, yes, but we do feel as if it's very accurately depicted in the photos. If you are only looking to use one bed and one bath, we could look at other options we have for you instead of a 4 bed home? Please let us know if you want to come see us again and we'll try to help you find a home that better fits your needs.

Save yourself health issues and DO NOT STAY HERE

Would not recommend staying at the "Crazy Mermaid". We thought we booked a cute "retro" beach vacation, but instead we walked into a house that reeked of mold (and that wasn't the only problem we encountered; the dryer didn't work, the wallpaper in the downstairs bathroom was peeling, the towel bar was hanging off the wall, there was visible black mold growing under the caulk in the shower/tub). When I contacted the company the day of arrival to inform them of the moldy smell they offered to bring air fresheners. When I voiced concern about our respiratory health, 3 people with autoimmune disorders and having someone pregnant on the trip they said they would get back to me....they never did. I reached out again and they apologized for the lack of response, but said it was because they couldn't have someone come out and do a mold test until the following week....How did that help our situation for our stay? They apologized again and thanked us for helping them provide better service for future guests, but still never offered a solution for our problems. They never offered reimbursement, never offered to help us find somewhere else to stay, and never offered a simple dehumidifier. Basically paid for a vacation to come home with a respiratory infection and headache. P.s I do feel sorry for the home owners, you can tell the place was once a sanctuary for their family and the mold issue is most likely from storm damage, but the company running it needs to be addressed.

When a concern of mold is brought up, we take it VERY seriously. However, we have to schedule a test and can not assume it's there because of a smell, which we scheduled right away. I would be happy to share the report as it came back as there was NO mold present in the property. Therefore any respiratory condition was not a result of staying in this property. Upon inspection, the cause of the smell was that someone put a knife down the disposal and cracked the p-trap under the sink. That has since been replaced. The towel bar was not hanging off, it was loose and has also been resecured. The wallpaper started peeling recently and when the owners are in the property over this coming summer, they are going to address all of this with removal and paint. As far as the caulking, it was discolored and has since also been remedied (again mold testing showed no mold in the property). Finally, the dryer was replaced already as well, which was done in short order, but we can not control if an appliance stops working, but we can work to get it fixed right away, which we did. As far as not helping, we offered the only two options we had - we looked for another property for you but did not have anything available, which we did tell you about. Secondly, we informed you that if it was a concern to you, we would refund the nights not used, but you elected to stay for the duration.
