History of our little town - Whitefish was incorporated in 1905 and is named for its proximity to Whitefish Lake. Our town was previously known as Stumptown for all the large number of tree stumps remaining after the founding fathers cut down the forest to make room for the new train depot. Please enjoy the history books of Whitefish during your stay. It is known for its fantastic snow skiing, foodie restaurants, and diverse activities.
Our home is a 25-minute drive to Glacier National Park which has year-round activities & attractions and mixed array of shops, coffee houses, restaurants, and accommodations.
Attractions – Whitefish has an artful soul, and the community is filled with local artists. It has many galleries along main street, colorful murals, and Stumptown art studio is a local favorite where people create art and pottery and take home with them. The Farmer’s market at the Whitefish train depot is from June to September. The whitefish theater company had productions throughout the year.
