The El Capitan was a streamlined passenger train operated by the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway from Chicago, Ill to Los Angeles, CA from 1938 to 1971. El Capitan leaves behind a legacy of being a luxurious, efficient passenger lines to cross the western plains. As I renovated this refrigerated boxcar, I wanted to keep that legacy alive and create a space that combines the spirit of the west with modern day conveniences.
Guests are welcome to pet horses and donkeys if and when they come up to the fence. I would appreciate it if you didn't cross into their pasture though.
The property is in the "country" so to speak. There are horses and donkeys in the pasture. 3 dogs live here as well. They are all very friendly. More often than not, they will watch you drive in and then go back to taking their naps at the house. Horney toads, lizards and a random snake may appear from time to time in the summer. You may hear the occasional coyote howling at night in the distance.
