PERFECT Location and incredibly accommodating host

Marley Cottage is in a fabulous location. A lovely hike to the beach (be warned it is uphill back)and the village is literally out the front door. When I arrived I had a hard time finding the place as it was night time (I suggest you try to drive during the day) and there are no numbers on the houses...how quaint., but Sharon was right there on the phone with my until I got into the front door. The master bed was HUGE and very soft..They also accommodated me with the loveliest down pillows. I used the main bathroom as the master bath (they plan to renovate this shortly) was small and tended to be chilly. The kitchen had old pots (I am a health nut and wont use used non stick pans) but Sharon was agreeable to replacing them immediately....AMAZING!!! So those stainless steel lovely pots and pans are waiting for your use!! I was there during the horrific rains and one day the electricity went out. It was the whole village and Sharon was so on it..ready to have someone there immediately... The heat worked very well and some mornings the heat fan in the bath room was divine. You could not ask for better hosts or a better location ENJOY!!!

Carmel Stay

The Marley Cottage was a wonderful place in a wonderful location in Carmel-by-the-Sea. It is conveniently located, yet also quiet. The walkability is unparalleled yet it wasn't too busy for our toddler who just started walking. The updated cottage has everything you could possibly need for a longterm stay, in a true home away from home. The kitchen is wonderful with everything you need to cook from the nearby farmers market. Sharon and Richard the hosts were so kind and gracious and responsive to any needs. The home office with the desk that converts to standing made it a perfect place for our family with remote work needs and comforts. It truly has everything one could need in one of the most beautiful places! You will not regret staying here and probably will not want to leave.

Delightful Marley Cottage

Marley Cottage is located in a perfect spot in beautiful Carmel By The Sea. The location is lively, near restaurants and shopping and just a short stroll to the beach. Richard and Sharon have thought of everything in this beautifully appointed home. There is nothing in the Cottage wanting—they have equipped it with everything to make your visit feel cozy and welcoming. The house is exquisitely decorated and landscaped. Stay during Coronavirus

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Marley Cottage; however, we cut our visit to Carmel short because everything was shut down during the Coronavirus. Since the restaurants and golf courses were closed, we decided that we should get home while we could and shelter in place in our own home. The cottage was wonderful and we hope to return under better circumstances.

Wonderful getaway in Carmel

We enjoyed our stay at the Marley Cottage in Carmel. The house is in the perfect location very close to Ocean Ave so you can walk to shops, restaurants, galleries, and the beach. Very comfortable and it had everything that we needed. We did a lot of sightseeing all the way South to Big Sur and also up North to Monterey. Great weekend escape. We will be back. Thank you!

A Little Bit of Heaven

We recently returned from a wonderful month long stay at Marley Cottage in beautiful Carmel-By-The-Sea. The cottage, set right in downtown Carmel offered so many options for shopping, dining, gallery visits, walks to the beach and drives along the beautiful California coast. There are numerous restaurants, bakeries, coffee houses, wineries, delis, bars, galleries and shops just across the street. We really could not have chosen a better location during a month when the weather was absolutely superb. Sunsets and views were spectacular. Now about the cottage. It's charming in the old Carmel style. The exterior is landscaped to perfection. Every Thursday the landscapers made their way onto the property to cut, trim and clean every inch of the gorgeous gardens. There's a great little patio with a fire pit, fountain, and a hot tub for those nights when relaxation is of utmost importance. 2 bedrooms and 2 baths offer plenty of room for 4 adults. The cottage is completely stocked with everything you need to feel completely at home. Nothing has been left out. There are plenty of pots, pans, utensils, blender, dishes, glasses in the kitchen to cook a gourmet meal. The dining area seats 4 comfortably. The living room has plenty of room for visitors and although we never needed to use it, a wonderful wood burning fireplace for those cool evenings. The cottage offers wifi, a computer, printer, iron. . .there really is nothing left out. The master bedroom is large, roomy and very comfortable. The master bathroom is a bit small but Sharon has mentioned a future remodel. We used the guest bathroom which is perfect. For additional guests, the guest bedroom is really charming. We really miss waking up and taking our walks down to the beach and our favorite coffee house, Carmel Valley Roasting Company. We plan on returning to this adorable cottage next year. Thank you Sharon for providing this perfect little bit of heaven for us to enjoy!!!

Beautiful cottage, beautiful gardens, beautiful location!

Charming cottage in downtown but very private! Loved the beautiful furnishings, and comfy beds. Gardens and patio are gorgeous. Walk steps to great restaurants, shops and beach. Stayed a month and will be back!

Cute, cozy, convenient!

A better location couldn't be asked for! Level walking to first few blocks of shops/restaurants for older people & easy to find. Close in but extremely private with the prettiest garden sitting area in back. Don't miss out on coffee or wine in the sun or with the fire pit going! Perfection would be the master bath remodeled. As of now, you are better served using the main bath. Would we stay again - you bet!

The Marley Cottage is clean and well appointed. It had everything we needed for a very comfortable stay. The location cannot be beat and I would call it the perfect spot for two couples to spend some quality time together. We'll be returning for sure!

Carmel Charmer, comfort and location all in one

Our stay at the Marley Cottage was above our expectations. It is a true Carmel cottage with a lot of character. Much better than a hotel room as the extra space of a clean, well appointed home made the stay all the more enjoyable. We usually stay in Carmel or Carmel Valley hotels and found this to be more enjoyable. We much prefer the option of eating breakfast in and, at our own pace. Healthier too. There is a nicely stocked kitchen and a cute eating area with a huge bay window overlooking a nice garden (even in winter). This afforded us the option to have meals at the home at our leisure vs. eating out for all three meals (although nice dinners out were part of the experience we wanted while on our quick get-a-way). The home was clean (a huge point for me) and while we didn't use some featured amenities (fire pit, Jacuzzi) due to the weather we could definitely see ourselves making great use of the patio/fire pit area another time. Location, location, location is all true. The Marley Cottage is in a great location right near the downtown shopping and not too far to the ocean (but it is a trek back). All without any tourist noise. We didn't drive our car for 3 lovely days. There is covered, private driveway parking with a picket gate you close behind you. Lastly, the owners are very easy to work with! We will definitely come back!

We loved staying at Marley Cottage. It was very convenient to downtown Carmel. The hot tub is wonderful after a day at the beach. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is fully stocked. What more could you ask for?

The cottage is just wonderful. The kitchen is well equipped, the house is warm, and beautifully decorated. Sharon was great to work with and was very responsive. Charming cottage in the heart of Carmel By the Sea

Our three night stay in Marley Cottage (8/24-8/27) was fantastic. This charming cottage is cozy and welcoming, just steps from downtown Carmel. This tastefully furnished and well laid out cottage is complemented by lovely art work and a really gorgeous garden filled with colorful flowers and plants galore as well as fascinating old trees. Nestled in this wonderful oasis, we enjoyed a cup of tea at dusk as we relaxed after a busy day. Aside from the comfort and beauty of the cottage and its surroundings, the kitchen was well stocked and nicely laid out which we appreciated as we usually had our breakfast and dinner at the cottage. The linens and towels provided were high quality complemented by other small details - like having kleenex in all the rooms - that created a comfortable environment. Sharon, the owner, was delightful to work with and always accessible and immediately responsive. Her book on the functioning of the cottage (where to find things, how the TV works, when the trash is picked up and her final checklist for departure) was one of the best and most user friendly I have seen of all the VRBO rentals I have stayed in. Charming Cottage

My 2 adult children and I spent a wonderful 4th of July Holiday at Marley Cottage. Immaculate and close to shops and restaurants. We could walk to the Beach and to the shops easily. Loved the nearby Safeway but the owner has a well stocked kitchen as well. The Hot Tube, fire pit, fountain and beautiful garden created the perfect spot to end each day. The living room has an easy to light gas fireplace for cozy inside gathering also. Beds were very comfortable too. My daughter kept telling me how perfect the cottage and the location was for our trip. We would definitely return!

Girls Trip

We arrived at Marley Cottage and just so excited about this comfy little cottage with amazing garden to relax in. LOCATION was a huge factor for us and it did not disappoint. We parked Thursday and did not use the car once. We enjoyed morning walks to the beach but you couldn't walk if you had loads of items to bring. Ours was strictly to enjoy the view and see the sunrise. Marley Cottage is located near all the shops, great wine tasting and dining ~ Forge in the Forest is a must! The court yard is private and has a nice fire pit which we relaxed around every evening and appreciated the new comfy cushions that were brought over for us! Fully stocked home, comfortable furnishings and just can't express enough the ideal location for quiet comforts while still be close to all the wonderful surrounding of Carmel by the Sea!

Just perfect

We stayed here for several nights and it was just perfect. The house is even prettier than the pictures make it out to be. Especially the outside areas-so pretty! The house sits away from the street so it is nice and quiet while being so close to everything. We walked everywhere- to the beach, several restaurants and all the shops. There's a little convenience store right around the corner and a big Safeway about 5 minutes down Hwy 1. The owners have really thought of everything. There's a big binder of menus, maps, brochures for things to do. There's a closet with some beach towels and chairs (we had brought our own) and there were several board games and a chess/backgammon set. NICE! The owner was also very responsive to a couple questions we had-we had trouble getting in-totally on US because we are dumb and not her instructions and she hooked us right up! We made s'more and hung out by the fire pit with the fountain going! Perfection. I would love to stay there again!

Charming Cotage, Perfect Location.

My childhood friend and I spent three perfect days at Marley Cottage. We walked on the beach, built fires, and enjoyed the close proximity of all Carmel attractions. The cottage itself had everything we needed and provided both of us privacy in the two bedrooms and two baths, all well-appointed. We would definitely return.

Lovely home, fantastic location and stunning gardens

This home is truly a gem - well situated to walk to all of the shopping and food venues at Carmel by the Sea, but with a lovely private garden area to unwind and truly relax. It really is a lovely oasis and I hope our family of four will be able to make the journey again in the not so distant future.

This darling cottage was purchased by Marvin & Shirley as a quiet respite where one can walk 'everywhere,' and has been maintained by their children since their passing. Sharon & Richard, owners, love the cottage, and have remodeled it, re-furnished it, and enhanced the gardens for your peaceful pleasure.

It reminded them of Cambridge, England, and was always very special. We hope you find Carmel-by-the-Sea as unique and charming as we always do, and Marley Cottage a haven of peace and relaxation.

This convenient location is literally steps to Carmel Plaza and all that Carmel has to offer. Make sure to check out the Forest Theater, a truly unique experience for watching shows, just a few blocks away. It was built as part of the old WPA……Wonderful acting in the open of Carmel’s woods, fire pits, benches, lovely experience….bring a dinner picnic! The Sunset Center, a couple blocks away, hosts concerts and symphonies.
