Summary:
The Lazo House provides a serene escape on the Llano River where the horizon stretches as far as the imagination. The serene sounds of the rapids across the river, the birds' song, and the pleasure of floating the river await. The Lazo House is nestled on 10 acres of unspoiled Texas hill country, with expanses of pink granite outcroppings.
The Space:
Our four beautifully designed cabins, along with the barn, and common house are perfect for family reunions, couple retreats or corporate off-site gatherings. We’re happy to consider hosting events at the property with prior approval. If you’re planning a special gathering, please contact us for more details!
In our distinctive setting, everyone can come together or enjoy serene solitude at their own pace.
Main Common House:
= Features a cozy living room with panoramic views featuring a 60-inch satellite LED-TV, Wi-Fi, and laundry room. Our gourmet kitchen includes upgraded appliances, gas oven/stove top, microwave, 2 dishwashers, and all the cookware and utensils you'll need to impress everyone with your culinary skills.
- Bunkroom with 2 full beds, 2 twin beds and 1 full bathroom
Cabins:
- Each individual cabin features deluxe bedding, room to spread out, tea and coffee makers and a patio to enjoy the sunrise right.

Cabin 2 - 1 Queen bed and 1 full bathroom
Cabin 3 - 2 Queen beds and 1 full bathroom
Cabin 4 - 2 Queen beds and 1 full bathroom
Barn: The newly renovated barn includes 4 twin bunk beds, full bathroom, a foosball table, dart board, smart LED-TV and a large living room for spreading out.
Llano river access: 4 kayaks are available and stored to the right of the main house. Please provide your own life jacket in accordance with state laws.
Guest Access:
Guests have full access to all 10 acres of unspoiled Texas Hill Country, including:
- All 4 cabins, the main commons, barn, full kitchen, private pool, and laundry room.
- Fun amenities such as a foosball table, dart board, kayaks, canoes, and riverfront access.
- Four campfire areas that are perfect for evening stories under the stars.
- Sun Loungers
- Outdoor Dining
We encourage you to explore the property and enjoy the river during your stay.
Several fire pits are available for guest use. Kindly bring your own firewood or supplies and be sure to fully extinguish all flames and coals after each use.
Please note that some closet spaces are reserved for housekeeping supplies and are not accessible to guests.
The Neighborhood:
The peaceful sounds of the rapids across the river, the birds' song, and the pleasure of floating the river await. Our retreat rest on 10 acres of unspoiled Texas hill country along the Llano River. Guests are invited to thoroughly explore the property, with particular emphasis on the river.
Getting Around:
A car is a necessity in the Hill Country. The property is out in the country 10 miles west of the town of Llano, which is 70 miles west of Austin.
A great barbecue and general store are 8 miles west in the village of Castell, TX. Live music is about 30 miles northwest at Hilltop Cafe. The Llano area has 4 wineries and a distillery to visit. Or, just relax into the serene hill country surroundings and unwind..
Other Things to Note:
Important: We are committed to protecting our properties and staying compliant with short-term rental regulations. As part of our protection plan, included in your booking price, you will be required to complete an independent third-party verification through Truvi. Before your booking begins, you will be contacted via email and/or text to confirm your details and complete the verification process.
To ensure a smooth check-in experience, you'll also be asked to review and sign the House Rules, Emerald Stay Terms & Conditions, provide a copy of your ID and credit card details for incidentals and reason for visit via the Guest App Link sent in your reservation confirmation. Please make sure to complete both steps at least 24 hours before your arrival to receive your arrival instructions.
Please note that payments over $1,000 require a quick verification step. Guesty Pay Protect will contact you via email before your payment is processed to complete this verification. If the verification isn’t completed within 15 minutes, the reservation will unfortunately be canceled due to non-payment.
HOUSE RULES:
- Occupancy [22]
- The primary guest must be at least 21 years old and present for the entire reservation.
- Unauthorized parties and events are NOT allowed without prior written approval.
- Smoking is not allowed.
- Minimum smoking fee: $300. However, the total charge may be higher if the property's condition renders it temporarily unrentable.
- Pets are allowed for $100 per pet. Not to exceed 4 pets. Please clean up after your animals.
- Shooting firearms/weaponry is prohibited on the property.
- Fireworks are not allowed.
- There is a fire pit on site for guest use. We kindly ask bring your own supplies, extinguish any flames/coals after each use and adhere to any county burn ban in effect. Up to a $500 fine for burning during a burn ban.
- In the event that you need to use the hard key, please place it back in the lockbox before departing. Failure to return any keys used to the lockbox will result in a $50 replacement fee per key.
- Please note that access to the property is easier with larger vehicles, as they are better suited for the road/driveway conditions.
Pool Rules:
- The pool can be heated for $75/day. Please notify us prior check-in.
- No lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk.
- Please rinse off before entering the pool. An excessive pool clean may be charged.
- Supervise children at all times Do not leave children unattended on the property or near/on the water.
- No glass or food is permitted in the pool and pool area. Additional fees may apply if glass is found in these areas.
- The pool flotation devices are allowed only in the pool, and not allowed for use outside of the pool.
- Please do not tamper with the pool equipment to avoid damage.
- Please note that the pool heater may struggle to maintain temperature if it's below 45°F. If the temperature drops below 35°F, we will be unable to turn the heater on, as it cannot function effectively at that level.
- For health, safety, and maintenance reasons, pets are strictly prohibited from entering the pool. A $500 fine will be charged if this rule is violated.
Creek Rules:
- Use kayaks and stand-up paddle boards (SUPs) at your own risk.
- Life jackets are required. Please bring and wear one while on the water.
- Children must be supervised at all times near or in the creek.
Amenities:
- The charcoal grill is located outside off of the deck overlooking the terrain. Charcoal is not supplied.
- The Llano river flows right behind the property. Water levels will change greatly depending on time of year and rainfall. Sometimes the river is flowing swiftly, while other times it may be more murky with lower flow levels. We have two kayaks available for use; they are stored on the side of the main house. Life vests and paddles are stored in the closet on the exterior of the building.
- There is a fire pit located by the river. If you do have a fire, please do not leave unattended and be sure it is extinguished completely. Fire hazard is high in the Hill Country. Firewood is not supplied. Please consult the county burn ban site before starting any open flame fires.
- Games books, and DVDs are available in the main house shelving under the windows.
- TV is connected to the WiFi for use with your streaming services.
- Lights along the patio just need to be plugged in to be turned on. The outlet is on the far side of the patio near the grill area.
HVAC Rules:
Please do not set the home's thermostat above 76 (heating) or below 68 (cooling). To avoid overloading the system, please adjust the thermostat by no more than 2 degrees per hour and keep the doors and windows closed as much as possible. If you encounter any issues, don’t hesitate to contact us.
Please note that this is a rural property out in the Texas Hill Country, where it's common to encounter wildlife such as birds, reptiles, deer, and other local fauna. Rural areas like ours may have limited or different services compared to urban settings, including cell phone and delivery services. We recommend enabling ‘wifi calling’ on your device.
As you may know, Texas is known for its bug inhabitants. Rest assured, we take proactive measures to manage this, and it shouldn't pose a problem during your stay. To help us keep them outside, please keep all windows and doors closed. Please feel free to use the bug spray underneath the sink.

A Great Family Getaway
We had my mom’s 84th birthday here! Lots of room in the main house for family time and the individual cabins gave each family some alone time! Photos at the river were a hit!

Family Vacation
We had a blast. Having an individual cabin for each family made it so convenient and relaxing. The kids loved the pool. We explored the river several times a day and we love to walk and explore. This is def a location we would stay at again! Thank you for having us!

Fall family getaway
We had a wonderful time! It was private and beautiful. We enjoyed big family meals, fishing, games, and s’mores around the campfire, Space for each family unit was nice. Everyone wanted to stay longer! A working ice machine would be a plus.

Great escape
This place was awesome. It was tucked away, right on the river. So peaceful and the cabins were all super clean with nice linens. The hosts Dylan and Jenn got me in last minute and even offered me a discount. Communication with them was super easy and they were very helpful! Would love to stay here again sometime.

Significant Family Birthday Celebation
The Lazo House was perfect for our multi- family vacation! The property is very clean and well furnished. Very nice linens! I loved that we had 6 full private baths- each family had their own private space. The Llano River was amazing- beautiful views, sunsets and stars at night!!! Girls Get Away Weekend
This was an AMAZING place for our large family of girls 18+. We enjoyed the large main cabin that could comfortably fit all 16 of us in and had room to move about. It was very secluded, but close enough to shopping with the short drive into Fredericksburg. We enjoyed the outdoor deck, pool, and other amenities this place offered for our large gathering. They also answered any questions I had before the trip, that way we knew exactly what to plan for our trip. I HIGHLY recommend this place - we loved the rustic and modern decor that made our weekend trip even more enjoyable!.

Time to reinvest in your property
The location and setup is really nice and the property at one time was likely 5 stars. However, that is not the case today. The pool heater does not work (stop advertising it is an option -- seems like there is always a maintenance issue). Cabin 1 has a MASSIVE leak in the ceiling and the management company was zero help in getting that repaired. No solution. No refund. No apology for me having to clean up the mess several times during our visit. Keurig doesn't work. TVs do not work (they turn on, but the satellite didn't work). Management team was zero help with the TV. There is a TON of junk all around. Clean out some of the drawers in the kitchen. Clean out the pantry. The foosball table was broken (fix it or replace it or stop advertising you have one in the game area).
The property is nice, but the ownership needs to reinvest some money to get it back on track.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience during your stay, especially with parking and the kitchen sink light. As for the parking, it's a modest lot shared with all of the cabin guests. The parking is on a first-come, first-serve basis for all registered guests, and we do apologize if this created any issues for you. For the light above the kitchen sink, we have alerted the team and the lighting has been addressed.
Apologies for the oversight in the patio area and bathroom supplies. We hope you were able to discuss it with us during your stay to take immediate action.

Property needs an upgrade in many areas.
We stayed at your property for 2 nights. We had the following issues which took you a week to address. All issues were communicated with you within 24 hours. At first you offered us no refund. Than upon realizing we did infact communicate properly you offered $150. For all the problems listed below we deserved more. This company does not care about what is fair in the service industry. If you cannot provide a service you paid for you should be refunding a fair amount. Make sure you ask if water is drinkable and if pool pump is fixed before booking. And check all water toys and kitchen ware that they don’t have holes or cracks. Read below why… 1) you advertised heated pool and I asked before hand 2)notified us of water issues 30 min before arrival 3)no heat in cabin 1 4)cabin 4 smelled very strongly like dog 5)rotten kayak seats, one kayak has a crack and my son has to jump out of his 6)fan button missing on stove, stove did not heat properly, had to ask where breaker was because timer would not stop beeping 6) had to deal with a tradesperson while on vacation 7)missing darts 8)no bedding in barn. 9)not enough toilet paper 10)main commons bunks has crumbs 11)dishwashers broken missing parts 12)bbq extremely dirty 13)life jackets extremely dirty and left in a corner 14)kitchen pantry and drawers a mess and old 15)I burnt my hand because oven mitt has a hole in by the thumb 16)front door lock cannot be locked from inside and we had kids sleeping in there
