Banner Cottage is located in the popular laid back tiny village of Stockholm, WI and is a 5 minute walk across the park to Lake Pepin's shore.

Enjoy the incredible scenery of the Driftless Area where winding roads take you through the bluff country along the banks of the Mississippi River.

Villages along the river offer shops to browse, delicious food to sample, and award winning local wines. Plan a wedding, listen to music, go biking, hiking, skiing, fishing, sailing, golfing or exploring, or just sit back and unwind.

Which ever you choose, Banner Cottage welcomes you and your friends and family. We hope that you enjoy your stay.

The space: Built in 1906 as the Country Doctor's home, Banner Cottage retains it's charm yet it's updated, welcoming, and comfortable.

Main Level: Enjoy a well equipped kitchen, an open living room and a dinning room with seating for 8. A shady covered side porch and a large deck under the trees makes a great gathering place to relax, enjoy the breeze off the lake, and to watch the sun go down.

With one bedroom and full bath down, and three bedrooms and a full bath up, the house comfortably sleeps 8.

Location:

We are located a short walk from all of Stockholm's amenities, from the beach to the bar, and to the shops and places to eat.

The house met our needs for the weekend and the owner communication was great! The location is wonderful for exploring Stockholm and we loved the coffee shop right across the street! The only con is how often the trains ran right behind the house, especially at night, but if you stay in downtown Stockholm you get the trains. It’s just good to be prepared for that.

Very clean and comfortable. The only drawback was it’s right on the main road and there were a lot of motorcycles passing by due to the beautiful weather and Labor Day weekend. Between the train in the backyard and the motorcycles passing by in the front, sleep was difficult.

Inform guests that the town is closed Sunday night thru Thursday. I believe we were the only people there. Please turn on the air conditioner early when it's 91 degrees out. It was so hot in the house. I realize there is nothing you can do about the bugs, but we live in Minnesota, and I have never seen bugs like that. You could not go outside. The first thing you see is the coach. It is probably time for a new one. Leave instructions in the book for how to operate the downstairs shower. It took us two days to figure it out.

Stockholm is a charming little town with the cutest shops and restaurants. Just a 7 minute drive to Pepin. The house was neat and clean with plenty of space for the 5 of us. Older home with lots of character, very well kept. Lots of ceiling fans and window units to stay comfortable on the hottest days! Host was very accommodating and responsive to any questions. Would definitely recommend!

Upsides: Great location, right in Stockholm, so an easy walk to everything in town and to the river. My wife and I were visiting with three adult children plus a significant other, and the cottage had lots of room for us, including a big dining room table and good-sized living room and a big outdoor patio. Kitchen is large, updated, and well-equipped. Lots of parking. We were spending a few days in the "west coast of Wisconsin" area, berry-picking, cidery, lavender farm, short hikes, swimming in the river, local restaurants. The cottage was a great base for all of that. Downsides: As anyone who visits the area knows, train tracks and trains runs through it. It wasn't a big deal to us, but might bother others. Also, the cottage has lots of beds, but two of the bedrooms are sectioned off by curtains, rather than walls and doors. Again, no big deal to us as a family group, but might bother others.

Quaint little community

Sweet cottage in a quaint little community. We were there during the Stockholm Art Fair, so that added some flavor. Beautiful area. The main downfall to the rental was the condition of the grill. It was a bit rusty and we had to give it a good cleaning before using it.

I booked this rental with my mom and my sisters for a long weekend get-away. A downstairs bedroom was part of our criteria because our mom is older and has trouble with stairs. The downstairs bedroom is not technically a bedroom at all, but just a room with a long curtain separating it from the living room/TV area. It made it impossible for anyone to stay up to socialize once mom decided to go to bed, especially with the outdoor 10pm curfew. However, the "bedroom" did have an attached bathroom, which was a huge plus.The same was true of the upstairs. There were two bedrooms (one with an attached bathroom) and one that was just a bed at the end of the hall with a curtain. This rental will most definitely sleep 8, but it technically shouldn’t be listed as a 4 bedroom. It would not be adequate for people that prefer their privacy.The setting of the rental was great for walking to any of the fun shops in town and there are a few! Everyone was so nice and very welcoming. Stockholm is a very cute place for a little get-away!This rental does sit between the railroad tracks and the main highway, so noise at night may be an issue for some. The host was kind enough to stock ear plugs in both bathrooms, which I thought was a nice touch!All in all, this rental served its purpose. Thank you for the stay!

Great location to stay near Liberty Tree Farm

I was looking for a place to stay near Liberty Tree Farm that had a nice kitchen for food preparation. Banner Cottage had a well-equipped kitchen. We also enjoyed the back deck and browsing through the many shops in Stockholm! The earplugs that were made available by the property manager were much appreciated with the nearby train tracks. Golden Girls Weekend

Recently returned from our yearly girls trip. This year we chose the Charming Cottage in Stockholm, Wi. The drive there does not disappoint: hilly and winding road, amid trees, cliffs and beautiful Lake Pepin. The cottage is easy to find, right on main road through Stockholm; very near the many cute shops and eating establishments. The cottage itself is charming, well equipped to host several. We did find areas needing attention; some immediate, some FYI: Pantry light crackles and sizzles when you try to turn it on. Light in refrigerator needs to be replaced. Main floor bathroom bath tub drain is extremely slow. Main floor bathroom floor was very dirty. A shirt and mini sanitary pad was found under the dresser in the main floor bedroom. (Did not belong to us) More or stronger light in dining room. Extra sheets and blankets would have been a plus. What we did appreciate was the number of power strips available-very handy for CPaps and phone chargers. The patio is lovely: it made for a great place to gather with a cup of coffee or cocktail. Plenty of comfortable seating. Despite the concerns voiced, once addressed we would give staying here two thumbs up.

Disappointed

House was old and dark. Old is fine, our house is old, but it didn't live up to the pictures we carefully went over on the website. We were told that 3 cars or 1 car plus truck and boat could be parked in back. Yes, BUT....it is a one way ally and if you park there, you have to back all the way out. Trains run constantly all night long. Lots of overgrown brush around property. Outside area was just ok, and the patio with the grill and table were very favorable. The rooms were "adequate". Keep in mind that was the best that 4 fishermen could come up with and they aren't very picky. The host was very good about answering any questions and responded immediately on the two emails I sent. We are used to small town, but this town is extra mini small. Went looking for dinner on last night (Wednesday) but no restaurants were open, but they did find a bar that served food, so that was fine. Lots of "local color" at the bar which they found fun. The guys said the house was "ok" and met their needs with 4 separate bedrooms, but that they wouldn't be comfortable endorsing it to anyone else.

Cute Cottage in a Cute Town

Me and my partner rented the cottage for the weekend, although a bit big for us it was perfect. Stockholm's extremely cute downtown and Lake Pepin are just steps away or a short bike ride on one of the town's free bicycles.
