Wenn Sie Kinder haben, werden sie den Sand so nah, das Volleyball, die Sandburgen, das Surfen, die Begonia Festival, das Pizza-My-Heart lieben. Our Five-Night Stay at Capitola Venetian

What an absolutely fabulous vacation home!

Steps from the beautiful clean Capitola beach, wharf, downtown, and great restaurants, Leonard's home is second-to-none. Clean, spacious, well-supplied, and very comfortable, this house provides the perfect getaway and gathering spot for my family, young and old. After a restful sleep in any one of the comfortable beds, we especially love the morning walks to Melinda's gluten-free bakery and our return to eat at the kitchen table with a full view of the beach. The kitchen, part of the house's open layout, is convenient and equipped with everything needed for quick easy meals and grills. The patio, equipped with a BBQ, also offers a glimpse of the beach and wharf. (Note: Have Leonard demonstrate using the BBQ because its start-up is tricky). After a day at the beach, the three large showers accommodate all. For nights after a late-evening restaurant dinner, the living room's couches and chairs, plus the dining room table, provide great open space for visiting and game-playing together. For an evening Santa Cruz Boardwalk trip, a five-minute taxicab drive beats the price of parking. And, to make our stay even more comfortable and enjoyable, Leonard is a gracious, friendly, GREAT host. His house has excellent amenities and a stellar location. This was our second stay with definite plans to return next summer. I highly recommend Leonard's property without reservation.

Perfect beach getaway!

This is my second visit to this adorable beachfront property. Leonard is a pleasure to work with, and helped make our ladies weekend getaway perfect! The location can't be beat, the home is comfortable and so many fun places to explore within walking distance. Can't wait to go back!

So, when I called and asked you what I could have done to make my home a 5 star, instead of a 4 star rating, you stated that you all had a "great time, but the downstairs shower flow wasn't just right"....Then you stated that maybe you were too harsh to have gone from a 5 star to a 4 star for that one reason, so you would be happy to upgrade your rating to a 5 star rating when you got back to your computer..... I want to thank you for your shower flow observation. I checked out the water flow and it seems to me to have a strong flow. I'm sorry that it did not meet your idea of a strong flow..... Fun getaway for our group, some changes needed, parking issues

The house itself was charming and fit our sleeping needs well. There are two openings in the wall from the living room to the master bedroom and bedroom to the bathroom that inhibit much needed privacy from bathroom users to those in the living room and kitchen. Thick curtains or a standing Chinese folding curtain would have been appreciated.

Parking was difficult, rarely could we find a close spot, otherwise we had to park a 1/2 mile away up a hill. The directions on the back of the permit were not helpful if you aren't familiar with the area. A map with highlighted areas to park would have saved us a lot of time.

It took us a while to find the garbage cans, the note says out on the street when they are in the alleyway behind the house.

The barbeque grill was malfunctioning and very dirty. We planned on barbequing a lot and had to use the stove/oven instead. The grill was on for an hour and never got over 200* and was full of grease I wasn't willing to spend a few hours cleaning.

The fridge/freezer was about 25% filled with the homeowner's food which was unexpected and we had to store some of our items in a cooler and therefore get more ice. Kitchen was stocked with most items, but no baking sheets. I improvised and used casserole dishes to bake, breadsticks, cookies, etc.

A bit of WD-40 could be used on most of the doors, they were pretty squeaky especially if you had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night.

We had 7 teenagers downstairs and 3 adults upstairs and it worked out perfectly that the kids had their area and adults had the whole upstairs. The kitchen table nook was well utilized but we had to create make-shift curtains to block the light most of the day.

The abundance of post-it notes on doors and furniture was odd, everything could have been put on one paper and read/signed by the renter. Also, if you have furniture that shouldn't be moved because it will damage the floor then perhaps don't have it in your rental.

The views were one of a kind and the town of Capitola was charming and safe to let the teenagers roam as they wanted.

Thank you for the stay, but we would probably find a different place next year unless curtains were installed and there were designated parking spaces for only us.

Vermieter-Kommentar: Dear future Guests: 1.....What I've learned over 8 years of having about 600 groups of Guests, is that I can't please everyone: Most Guests really enjoy the openness of my home, whereby Guests love the beach views: The 2 "openings" mentioned have been commented from other Guests as being "wonderful with full views of the Monterey Bay". Reviewer did not see my Japanese style folding curtain over the opening for privacy. Also, there are the pair of doors to the bedroom that allow complete privacy to the bathroom. Most importantly, other Guests used my hallway bathroom which is fully private as well. This bathroom has 2 doors for privacy, both from the second bedroom and the living area. Why the reviewer didn't use this bathroom is beyond me -- 600 other Guests have done so! No complaints, ever! 2. Finding immediate parking might take a little time when you come on a Friday in the late afternoon, especially during the Summer Month of June. As any resort, Guests may have to be a little patient to find a spot, however once you find that spot, you never have to move your car! A little inconvenience is well worth the ideal location! As to the details of where to park, I've not incurred any other Guest who didn't understand the Captiola Police parking description on the back of each pass. If parking isn't out front, it's about 1/2 to 1 block away on street (about a 1 - 2 minute walk), not 1/2 mile mentioned. The great thing about parking in Capitola, is with your 2 free parking passes, once you find a spot usually within 45 to 70 feet, you can park and enjoy 28 different restaurants and many shops. I just wished the Reviewer had called me for help as I offer to all Guests. 3. Garbage cans, as my brochure on the kitchen counter states, are "down the back stairs", not the street as review claimed. 4. My barbecue works fine; Apparently the Reviewer didn't read the instructions, as someone misaligned the right side control. I got the BBQ working in 10 seconds. A quick phone call to me would have solved this easily fixable problem. 5. My brand new cookie sheet & cake pan were on refrig. 5. Most of the 25% refrig usage is for items (butter, jam, syrup, salad dressing) that Guests may have forgotten to bring! Guests say this is a blessing, as Guests have no need to rush to the market! 6 . My sticky notes are helpful because some Guests do not read the clear instructions! But, Guests can't miss my sticky notes! 7. Squeaky doors. I WD-40'd the one door.

Capitola at it's best.

Had a wonderful time. So charming. Great location!!!! My daughter and her friends ran around town, went to the beach, rented surf boards and enjoyed Pizza My Heart!!! They loved the Condos colors - great for pictures. Easy for me. No driving!!!! Kids took the downstairs bedrooms and I had the one upstairs. Perfect!!!! Place was clean and Leonard was super sweet. Great for family vacations!!! Downstairs is not as nice as the upstairs, but perfect for kids. Like I said - GREAT PLACE TO STAY!!! Would definitely book again.
