We had a wonderful stay at both cabins. They were very clean and beautifully decorated. The entire place was perfect for our family group of 10 people and our pet. We all enjoyed the amazing spaces around the lake and the outdoor areas. The sunsets were beautiful, and we made truly memorable memories. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing property and attentive owner

Afyer the roads to get there and the amazing views you pull up to the property and see the awesome view. One of the cabins (the one i stayed in) is literally feet from the lakefront. Well decorated and furnished with pretty much everything you need except food. Beds and furniture were very comfortable. I would definitely stay here again.

We are very clear about about how this lake fluctuates through the year. During the summer, the lake is up to the house's lot line and is much closer to the water than during the fall season when the lake goes down when it pulls out toward the second house. This TVA lake fluctuates and pulls away from Next To Heaven's Shoreline first. Some homes on Douglas have a huge number of steps all year long no matter the season. If you choose, this residential lot has access via a vehicle to the high water mark. It is rare to be able to drive or even easily walk without stairs to the shoreline of Douglas Lake to most homes on the lake. This essentially flat access point between the two houses is this property's best selling point.

Great place to stay.

The only problem that I can say was the winding road getting to the property. Once we got there everything was really nice. The places were really clean. My son in law enjoys running in the early morning and he saw several deer and one bear. Everyone in my family enjoyed our family enjoyed our stay end would recommend staying here.

Fun week

14 family members in both houses. Worked out perfectly because the “older” people could go to bed and not be disturbed. The kids loved bed swimming and fishing. The owner was very nice and helpful. Highly recommend

Vacation 23

We loved the house right on the lake. It was peaceful and so relaxing. Unfortunately, we didn't realize how far apart the houses are, especially when you have family in both. The neighbor and his wife were very friendly and helpful. The owner was working a lot. The houses needed extea cleaning. There were webs in many locations and the bathroom in the main house was dirty. Besides these couple of things, I honestly loved it there and would rent again.

Thank you for your review. This is an owner maintained home so they are being sent this review immediately. Finding something not cleaned as well as you expected is not acceptable at Smoky Mountain Lake.LLC. Saying you would stay there again makes me feel a lot better. When you do, please know we give return guest discounts. Since a couple of people have mentioned the distance from house to house, I plan to go there and measure the # of feet from door to door. They are on adjoining lots so I have never thought they were far away at all. One house sits the at top of drive and the other sits out on the point. The common area, launch, and docks lies in the middle of the two houses. I will better describe the distance as soon as I can. Your comments are appreciated. Thank you for being a valued guest. Lynda

The two homes are about a 1/4 of a mile apart. In between lies the owners homes and we woke early Sunday morning to him using heavy equipment to improve his property. The pavillion is advertised as shared by the renters of the vacation home: forget it. The owner commandeers his pavillion as ground zero for him, his family and friends...not the insubordinate guests.

I am not sure why you waited over 8 months to write this. I cannot remember you having an issue during your stay. I looked for emails and text messages about the garage being built or any issue you had. There were none that I could find. Let me assure future guests, that garage job was completed months ago. The only improvements being made in 2023 is power being run closer to the water so boaters don’t have to bring super long extension cords to charge their battery. Next to Heaven might possibly be 1320 feet apart from 7th Heaven but the lots lines sure aren’t. The lots butt up against each other and instead of a postage stamp lot you get the use of several acres. They are easily walked or driven too. You can drive your vehicle to off load boat gear down at the launch. Not many locations on the lake offers that. I take offense to you saying “not as advertised.” I looked over the Ad on VRBO and would not change a thing. The “COMMON Area” between the two homes mentioned on the VRBO ad doesn’t even talk about the pavilion as a amenity. But the Owner is kind enough to let guests use the Community Pavilion as an added bonus. This pavilion is what is between the two houses on the left side of the drive. This is where the docks (some private to Next to Heaven in season) and in-season launch is located. There are 2 homes on the right side of the drive that does include the owner’s home. However, the overall property is 10.5 acres of prime main channel lake frontage. You threw off on things no regular lake home has the ability to offer. The good so out-ways any negative. I do regret that there was some building going on during your stay (that I was not made aware of). But, between the two houses, there is plenty of room to enjoy together without ever stepping foot in the pavilion (that I don’t mention)! Future guests- talk to me. Ask questions before and after the booking. I will give you honest answers and do the utmost to make your stay enjoyable. As of 2023, I am now in my 28th year of renting homes on Douglas Lake.

Douglas Lake Retreat

We booked these two homes for a family vacation and it was lovely. We had a wonderful time reconnecting with everyone, got gorgeous photos, and loved the relaxing atmosphere. The owners were so gracious. They let our party use their dock and pavilion and even gave us fresh cucumbers out of their garden! We were close enough to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge to conquer Splash Country and Anakeesta, but there was really no need to leave the lake. There were breathtaking views from both houses. One has a large deck with elevated views of the lake while the other has a wraparound porch offering stunning lakeside views as well as the mountains beyond. There were a few hiccups with our departure, but the positives far outweigh the negatives. :). Lifelong memories were made, for sure.
