Perfect VRBO

This property had everything we needed. The proximity to downtown Sturgis, Deadwood, Rapids City and many other attractions was perfect. The owner was super helpful and made sure our stay was perfect. I would highly recommend this property.

Fabulous!!

We were in town for my dad's funeral. It was a perfect place to have my siblings all stay together. House has a very homey feeling. We were able to all eat together. Highly recommend. Quite neighborhood and the hammock is a plus!! Thanks for a restful stay.

Nice Property

If you are looking for a place to stay while in Sturgis or driving through then look no further!! This property was amazing and felt so much like home we didn’t want to leave. Very close to downtown Sturgis and also had a pool table! Kris was a very good host and took care of everything we needed while we were there.

Family time!

Home was perfect for our needs. Everything you needed was there. Unfortunately, we were in an out for a funeral, family reunion and gatherings that we didn’t get to enjoy the sauna or the pool table. Backyard was a dream. If you rent this home you, you have rented a wonderful place!

Invasion of Privacy, Urine stench throughout entire house , no working A/C

"7/11/22 Dear Mr. Kris Dahl Concerning my Vrbo rental at Sturgis, S. Dakoda with you on the dates of 7/7/22 to 7/11/22 I have a few issues I hope we can quickly resolve. Here are my issues.. *My check.in time was set at 3pm on 7/7/22 yet I couldn't check-in at 3pm due to prior guests not leaving and or leaving a mess behind, leaving me basically homeless for 4 hours with no where for me and my guests to go after a 1300 mile ride to get there from California. A/C quit working after the first night which left 3 more nights of sweltering heat & the house unbearable and miserable to be in let alone sleep in, you were immediately notified and you waited till the 11th on my check out date to repair because of course you and your guest will be staying there after me and my guests leave. (Not as described on Vrbo site when rented. Amenities included a working A/C!) I had to leave early because I just couldn't take the heat and the urine smell was 1000x worse in the heat. The strong smell of urine throughout the house especially in the basement was disgusting & not disclosed before renting which it should have been since both you and your wife were fully aware of the urine stench when we mentioned it to you and that's when both you and your wife said you needed to change carpet in basement. I could not entertain or have guests over (as planned) due to the extreme heat w/o a working A/C and urine stench throughout entire house, which was extremely amplified 10 fold by the heat. *Although I appreciate the kind gesture with the whiskey, its still highly inappropriate to enter the Vrbo premises whilst me and my guests have already checked in, have our personal property and motorcycles inside and on the Vrbo premises. *The upstairs shower did not drain properly and filled up with nasty, smelly water around our feet while showering. I made you and your wife immediately aware of the situation but nothing was done. Unsanitary. All the holes and ruts in driveway entrance to house makes it extremely hard to navigate on a motorcycle. Not really a complaint from me just wanted to inform you! All things listed we're reported to you immediately via text message/email through Vrbo I was hoping to get some sort of resolution with you in the way of a partial refund. Also I accidentally left my Bluetooth JBL speaker at the house and will pay for shipping if you would be so kind to send to me." No resolution from owners to this date.

Please read my other reviews. All my past reviews have been 5 Stars and no complaints. James is definitely trying to get a discounted stay on my behalf. Here is the my side of how things played out. The guest set his check in time on the day of booking at 11:00 pm. on august 7th. The house was ready by 7:30pm. So James saying he was homeless for 4 hours is not true. They arrived early and did not change their check in time. James's girlfriend called me on august 5th wanting to check in early, they arrived in town and were sleeping in tents. My house was booked by another group of people. So it was unavailable. James notified me the A/C was not working at 11:30 pm on august 9th. I contacted a service tech on the morning of august 10 to come check out the A/C but they were booked out and put me on waiting list. I have never had any guests complain about a urine smell in the basement. I asked James if it was ok to stop by the house and drop off a bottle of whiskey as a gift to enjoy during their stay and he said that was fine he would be back at the house in a little bit. So invasion of privacy is false. I checked both showers after they checked out and 1 did drain a little slow but was nothing like he describes as smelly and nasty water. I snaked the tub and ran Drano down the drain. He did not leave a JBL speaker in the house, if he did his friends must have grabbed it when they left. I proposed to give him $900 dollars back for the 1 day the A/C was out. He is now trying to get a charge back for the entire stay. VRBO is deciding how this will play out. I would not rent to James again. I am a good host and care about my guests that stay in my house. This was a bad situation. Please read all my other reviews. Thanks.

Amazing Location and the Host was very accommodating

If I had to choose a place to stay in Sturgis, I would choose this place 1000 times over!!! The location was prime for walking to and from downtown. The place was spotless and plenty of room and beds were available. The host was so nice and went out of his way to ensure an amazing stay.

Family vacation

Great location between Badlands, Devils Tower, Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park and Mt. Rushmore! The house was well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. Pool table on lower level and bonus foosball table located in the garage we’re good to keep teenage children occupied while at the house. Enjoyed our visit to Sout Dakota!
