This cabin was awesome, once we arrived we never left, fished in the pond and we had a blast, the cabin is decorated so beautiful, very very clean, had everything we needed, we brought our lil dog (harley) and she had a great time. We plan on coming back in the fall, i highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a relaxing stay . We drove our toyota1986 pickup because we knew it was down a dirt road, we brought all our groceries with us and i cant say enough how much of a goodtime we had here. 😊
What a wonderful place and it made for a perfect relaxing week. The pictures do not do justice to the view!! We enjoyed the birds, squirrels, and the chipmunk! We especially enjoyed watching the white breasted nuthatch hammering away on seeds while we sat at the picnic table. Thank you for the bird seed and the fish food. Glory Hole, Pedestal Rocks, and Alum Cove are a must hike and are nearby. Breakfast at Cliff House and lunch at Ozark Cafe are great. Thanks again for sharing the tranquility of your cabin.
We went for NYE with our 4 year old grandson and diva dog. We had a great time at Rocking Chair Ridge. The cabin is wonderful, cozy and comfortable. We enjoyed it very much. Our grandson had a great time looking out at the view, picking up acorns, finding deer track and looking for deer. The accommodations are very nice. We most definitely will be back. We spent the one day scouting out the Elk between Ponca and Boxley and were not disappointed. We saw several. We also went to the Buffalo and hiked a bit. It was a great weekend.
Wonderfully relaxing 3 night stay at Rocking Chair Ridge was just what my husband and I needed. It was a perfect retreat time for us with beautifully peaceful surroundings, wildlife everywhere to enjoy and a spotless, comfortable cottage that felt like a little home away from home. MJ and John were always available to answer questions and exceeded our expectations in providing all that we needed. My husband was pleased to have Verizon internet and cell service the entire time from the cottage. We both appreciate the personal time and effort that MJ and John give in making Rocking Chair Ridge a blessing to visitors.
We arrived into the Jasper area via Route 7, not quite knowing what to expect. This whole mountainous area took our breath away - simply gorgeous. We check in at the cabin's office and meet two of the kindest people we have met to date. Yes you get a goodie bag but more importantly I enjoyed the warm-hearted small talk with these charming folks whom are very knowledgeable about the area you are staying in. MJ gave us the run down on some very simply guidelines about your stay in the cabin as well as a VERY thorough packet of things to do while you are there. EVERYTHING was covered: swimming spots, hiking trails, canoe rental, horse back riding, literally anything you want to do is within this packet. This was VERY much appreciated as we hadn't planned out our trip too much other than booking the cabin.
After that, we get to the cabin and again, simply blown-away, by the view that is directly in front of this cabin. A crystal-clear view of the Ozarks awaits you, complete with a small deck with chairs right at the ridge (the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee, though the porch is great for that too). Everything you need is furnished both inside and outside of the cabin. Plenty of outdoor furniture, a grill, a fireplace with wood, bird feeder, etc. Inside was no different. I normally wouldn't care about having a TV in a place like this in the mountains but when we had our 6 year old son with us, it was much appreciated. All of the furnishings you need are provided along with cookware. The small touches were appreciated and noticed. Not only the sign and cookies and goodies. I found a book in the bathroom written by someone in my home state. Coincidence? I think not. John and MJ truly want you to enjoy your stay and you will feel that and appreciate that, every day that you are there.
In all, it was one of my favorite trips I have taken (and certainly my families favorite). That says a lot as I've done tons of travelling in the Boy Scouts growing up and a lot since then too. The feeling of being totally isolated on a barren mountain, deep into the woods, with nothing but you and the abundant wildlife around you is difficult to describe but better to experience yourself. If you want to lose yourself in the wilderness for a week or two, this is THE perfect place to do so. Cabin aside, we fell in love with the mighty buffalo river - the perfect venue for all sorts of water sports, canoeing and tubing among them. Book this one NOW, you won't regret it.
I told my husband that I wanted to get away from it all and he booked this cabin on the internet as a birthday gift to me. My gosh, I feel like I hit the jackpot, this place is heaven. The views are stunning and the owners have put so much love and time into making the cabin so adorable and comfortable. It is SPOTLESSLY clean. The grass was cut, the fire stacked with wood, and porch loaded with comfortable chairs. The wildlife is amazing. The cabin is very private but also conveniently a located to a wonderful restaurant with panoramic views that was a short distance away. Our stay was so great that we have already booked to come again.
