This English basement apartment is private, self efficient and has everything you need to stay. The leafy neighborhood is just a short walk to the University, Metro and many restaurants. Plenty of parking on the street and safe to arrive at anytime with self check in using lockbox. Fast WiFi, . kitchen is fully furnished with large fridge, oven and microwave. Wonderful stay and wonderful host!!!

Elizabeth was an absolutely wonderful and caring host!!! Communication was perfect. She goes above and beyond to make your stay a memorable one!! She was awesome!! Now, the place: 1) The neighborhood is beautiful and safe!! 2) Parking is free and unlimited, 3) 15 min walk to the metro, 4) full kitchen, 5) washer and drier. I didn't end up using all of these amenities, but it's great to have them should you need them. The bed is super comfortable and the WIFI works great!!!I can't wait to go back!!!! Thank you, Elizabeth!!!!

A brilliant stay

This property was perfect for someone like me, in town for work, who needed a home base with all the amenities of kitchen, bathroom, Wifi etc, as well as laundry, which I did not need, but is available. A great place to stay!

The property was so affordable I was afraid it might be in a sketchy area! I couldn't have been more wrong. The area was very nice. Everything we could have needed was available. Elizabeth was very pleasant and responsive. If we come visit DC again we will definitely want to stay here

Everything you need

The communication with the host was fantastic from the very beginning, even when I had a couple changes in schedule. The basement apartment, While looking like your relatives Guest room, it has everything you need washer dryer, kitchen, and an extremely comfortable bed. The neighborhood is absolutely gorgeous and worth walking through and you can also walk to Starbucks and several restaurants and a smoothie store and CVS. Close to the metro this is a great place for someone to stay, who wants to get out and explore the city!

Bus stop is so close

This is my third timing staying. I found the N2/N4 bus right next to the house. It is so easy to ride the bus. I can't wait to come back in January.

The property was comfortable and very convenient. It was well equipped and in a lovely neighborhood. The bathroom is very small, and a bit of a squeeze. The only problem we had with communication had nothing to do with the property, but with VRBO: Every time I clicked the place indicating "click here to go to "Access your rental" I got a message telling me the site was not working.

The apartment was a basement so darker than I expected. Everything I needed was there. Comfortable bed and couch. Would’ve liked a desk or table for studying. Elizabeth was great with communication. A real bargain!

Cozy spot conveniently placed for travel

This room is small, but comfortable, and has all the basic necessities for a nice stay. Brita Filter, Kuerig machine, pots and pans, cups, plates, and bowls, are provided along with a Fridge, Microwave, stove, and oven. The bed is comfortable and the neighborhood is quiet, making for nice sleep. the house is a 15-25 minute walk away from both the Tenleytown AU and Friendship Heights Metro stops, making travel to Maryland, Virginia, and Downtown DC relatively simple.

June in Washington

The place is in a nice residential area, a lot of trees, quiet, some parks around, walking distance to the metro station (15 minutes) or by bus. We parked the car in the street for 3 days, no problem. It is like a small studio, very clean, cozy, everything included. The host put small details that increase the feel at home of the place. We really like it. If we go back to Washington, we will try to rent there again.

Lovely little apartment in fantastic, quiet residential area

Lovely little apartment with everything you need! Easy check-in, well-cared for, and well-appointed garden studio, with a full kitchenette, comfy bed, good-sized bathtub, and awesome tv with netflix. Thoughtful details, like fresh bottles of drinking water in the fridge, which was especially appreciated after a long drive. The property owner was also so kind and accommodating with a last-minute check-in change request. Quiet neighborhood near American University, lots of restaurants and some shopping too within walking distance. Ample street parking, and quick and cheap ubers everywhere you want to go. Will stay here again, awesome property and awesome host!

To potential guests: Carefully read each and EVERY review to evaluate if this property is right for you. This is not for you if you have mobility issues or size issues. You must descend stairs to enter and the ceiling is low. This is not for you if you demand absolute and utter perfection. This is for you if you... would be happy to focus on the many wonderful positives and are willing to overlook blemishes and imperfections of an older basement property. Incredible aspects: Absolutely amazing value!! Fantastic perfectly safe neighborhood Beautiful 12 min walk to metro FREE parking!!!!! We saw overnight parking in DC for almost what we payed for this room. If you have a vehicle to park, the free parking can save you tremendously. Full and well equipped kitchen with full size refrigerator and thoughtful extras in the kitchen Washer & dryer & detergent Super hot water Nice towels & linens Comfortable size full bed Comfortable pillows Dark and quiet when it's bedtime You cannot hear traffic It's a very peaceful location Closet with hangers Chest of Drawers I like having places to organize all my stuff after I unpack. I was able to really get comfortable and feel at home here. My suggestion to owner- please install security locks on the interior of ALL doors. I think it is important for the peace of mind and safety of guests to be able to lock all doors from the inside so that no one, including the owner can enter once a guest is in the room.

Just what you need

This is listing is pretty much what you see is what you get! It's a basement studio apartment, and there's not too much space to move about, but it's got the necessities and even a few extras (the window AC unit was heavenly in the summer heat this week). Being in the basement, the walk around the side of the building and the landing had some critters but not overwhelming. Only had a few sightings inside. The furnishings and decor are all pretty dated, but function well. Bed is really comfortable. Bathroom is pretty small/tight which wasn't a problem for us but if someone in your party likes to spend extended time getting ready, doing makeup/hair it would be challenging. And not much counter space but there's a wall mirror vanity that comes in handy. The space is definitely not ADA accessible with the stairs down to the basement and tight quarters. There is a separate entrance to the area, which is off to the side of the house, away from the main home areas. The owners, also your upstairs neighbors, were overall quiet and not bothersome at all in that regard. The closest metro stop is a solid walk, so if you're relying on public transit, just take that into account, but it's doable (we did it for 6 days!). All in all, it was a really affordable options with some character being in an older home and different space, but fit all of our needs and we would definitely stay again! If you're just looking for a place to sleep and plan to be out an about most of the time this is it!
