Tired of the hustle and bustle of the city? Looking for some peace and quit? Then why not a country getaway. Here is a very large home in the country with a 7 acre private pond. It has all the amenities you could ask for. A large kitchen with commercial grade appliances. A huge great room open to the kitchen and upstairs. This house is perfect for large family gatherings and family reunions. Great for hunting groups or a guys weekend. Ideal for a womens weekend as well with shopping and restaurants just a short 45 minute drive. Would also be great for small private weddings, yoga or meditation retreats. Or just a romantic weekend for 2. Lots of things to keep you busy including a private lake with great fishing, shuffleboard table, ping pong table, foosball, darts, horseshoe pits and frisbee golf. large dining room table is great for card games. There is a theater room with surround sound and a 10 foot screen with dish network. This is a country getaway very secluded and private property. Unfortunately with that there is no internet provided at the property. Verizon cell phones seem to work the best at the house, depending on your carrier you may or may not have internet. If you would like an early check-in or late check out, please email us in advance.

Beautiful getaway for a girls retreat!

Our group of 10 women have been gathering annually for over 20 years. This property fit our needs beautifully and we had the privacy and amenities needed for a wonderful vacation together!

Enjoyable Family Vacation

Relaxing family stay with three generations. The house was clean. We enjoyed fishing in the lake. Grandchildren were able to catch small bluegill off the dock and a few nice bass were landed as well.

Jonna was such a great host and helped us make our stay seamless and easy. The house is set up great for large groups. After a long day outside we took advantage of the large great room, huge kitchen, and theatre room to relax. Highly recommend.

Family Weekend

Our family loves this place. It suits our needs well with something for everyone. We brought kayaks and enjoyed rowing around on the water. The outdoor sounds make you feel like you are camping. It is so peaceful. This was our second stay here. It is one of our favorite places to gather as family.

Its was a very peaceful location. Great fishing and firepit nights with s'mores. Porch swing, tether ball, frisbee golf and more. 3 generations having fun together. Close to town if you forgot something. The house was large enough for us, with room to spare. Andy is a great communicator, and responds promptly

Month of Howard Weekender

This property was a perfect place to spend the weekend with family. There were spaces to be together and places to relax alone. We cooked together, dined together and took advantage of all the games and activities offered at the house. The hosts were extremely helpful and kind. I had questions and they had prompt answers. I very much recommend this rental.

Family weekend

The property is awesome. The online listing did not include an address and while Andrew did get back to us when we had a question/problem getting door code, it took a bit with sending messages through the app. There was a bed bug found when stripping the beds. We totally enjoyed the weekend and all the amenities that were available.

Ruined Reunion

Our annual family reunion was ruined here as the water pump was broken (we had no water), and the electrical power was half out. We eventually left at 10:00 at night and had to drive home--3 1/2 and 5 hours. You would think we would get a full refund after this terrible situation, but they have decided we only get back one third of what we paid!

Family gathering

What a lovely property! We had such a wonderful time. The kids loved swimming in the pond and the theater room. We all loved the game room and large gathering spaces inside & out The house is very well appointed and clean. The listing says there is a hot tub, but we did not find it. Maybe it is in an area we did not have access to. Our only real disappointment--and the reason I am not giving this property the highest rating--was that the A/C had a hard time keeping up with the Iowa heat & humidity, especially in the primary suite. (We had to sleep with the door open to our room.) The hosts sent someone to look into it right away. Unfortunately, they were unable to fix it during our short stay. I have no doubt they will address it if they haven't already. We hope to book another stay in the future. It truly is a fantastic gathering place.

Great amenities!

Beautiful, large house with a great small pond. Everyone loved the theatre room with a working popcorn machine well stocked with popcorn/oil . That was a well-appreciated surprise! The kids thought the game room in the loft was awesome, we had family pingpong and shuffleboard tournaments. Other families must have done the same because the ping pong paddles are showing their wear. But as rank amateurs we didn't mind! We fed the bluegill and a couple bass many many fishing worms! One granddaughter loved hunting frogs and caught a big bullfrog to show everyone. She really liked the frogs, turtles,and fish and even appreciated seeing the snake on the patio, although she didn't try to catch it! We really appreciated that there was wood for the firepit, we haven't had that everywhere we've stayed. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans/utensils (except weirdly, no spoons...lots and lots of forks though!) Overall, we thought the place was great and we (8 adults, 6 kids) had a wonderful time!

Great family getaway

My family and I stayed at this Rental during the week of Thanksgiving as our Christmas present to each other. It was a fantastic time! Plenty of bedrooms for all 15 of us to sleep comfortably. The beds seemed firm at first but they were actually super comfortable and they provided a lot of pillows, too! The game room with shuffleboard, ping pong, and foosball kept us all entertained along with the theater room and large table to play board games. It was a little chilly while we were there but we still enjoyed getting outside to use the fire pit, play catch with a football and walk around the pond. Allowing two dogs was super nice and they felt at home as well. A nice, Large kitchen with necessary utensils and pans to cook. The only downfalls were we weren’t fans of the kitchen sinks, they are on some sort of automatic system and didn’t work the greatest or have a good amount of hot water to wash dishes. The one bathroom upstairs, the water valve seemed to have some sort of malfunction and also didn’t work the greatest but luckily there are two other showers to use. The one bedroom upstairs on the south side also didn’t have outlets that worked. But besides those things we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend others to stay with their friends/family as well! A nice, quiet, peaceful getaway!

Couples Country Retreat

Our group had an absolutely wonderful experience at our "Country Getaway". There were 6 couples, 6 of us have been friends for over 40 years, since middle school, and our spouses/significant others. In 2019, we had our first weekend couples retreat and decided we would do a retreat once a year, but then Covid happened. So when we were all finally able to get away, we chose this fabulous home that had the title "Country Getaway", for our annual retreat!! We loved the Country setting, the house was phenomenal and enough bedrooms for us all to have a private room. A wonderful Great Room was the center of the home and the main hub where we did all of our fellowship and unplugging from the world!! From sunrise to sunset, this weekend was what we all hoped it would be and we would definitely recommend this home to anyone. From watching the sunrise over the fields & pond to fishing in the pond, playing horseshoes, to Frisbee Golf, shuffleboard & ping pong to sharing the preparation/consumption of meals, watching the sunset and roasting marshmallows over the bonfire a great time was had by all!! The hosts were extremely responsive and helpful with all of our questions while planning our trip!! Would consider coming here again!!
