Nestled by the babbling Blackwater River and 100 yards from the banks of Pleasant Lake, the Dam Cottage is located in the heart of the quaint Elkins Village. In its 100-year history, the cottage was a mill, the Scytheville Post Office, and a flower shop. Now it is a cozy retreat and a perfect base for your next ski trip, or for swimming, boating, or taking in the sunset. The cottage is a short drive from Ragged, Sunapee, and Pats Peak Mountains, and a short walk to the beach and boat put-in. The cottage itself is bright and clean and ready to host your next getaway. The cottage was very clean, had everything we needed, and was so very cute.Our host made sure we had our check-in info well ahead of our arrival and responded quickly to our messages however once we arrived at the cottage there was nothing else we needed. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend this cottage!

Enjoyed our stay!

This cozy cottage was perfect for our recent visit to visit family in Elkins, NH. It is located a short walk to Pleasant Lake for swimming and boating (in good weather). Steph was so attentive and helpful and provided many wonderful amenities in the cottage. This is our go-to place to stay whenever we visit the area.

Very nice property in quaint and quiet location. Everything was close by, and Pleasant Lake is the real star of the show. Perfect swimming in a clear lake to your heart's content. Apartment was well stocked with towels and silverware, etc. Hope to go back in the summer next year!

Cool location, great place

We had a large family gathering nearby and the Dam Cottage was perfect for family of 4 to stay. Hard to beat the location, on a small river flowing from Pleasant Lake. Highly recommend!

peaceful retreat

My husband and I had a peaceful stay at the beautifully appointed cabin - there was good information upon check in and the air conditioning was awesome (the few days we needed it on). There were many items left in the kitchen to start our visit. There is the most lovely view from the cabin and a very quick walk to the lake - sunsets were amazing!!

Great stay!

We were visiting the area to meet our newest grandson. This charming cottage was the perfect location, just below the beautiful lake. The cottage is spacious, clean and loaded with amenities. Our hosts were very easy to communicate with and made our stay enjoyable. Can't wait to come back!

Perfect Stay

This cottage was above and beyond our expectations. It was clean as a hotel, and had so many wonderful little touches that made it feel like it was set up just for us. The location is near so many great restaurants, great skiing, hiking trails, not to mention the gorgeous lake right in front of you. Elkins is a small peaceful town that feels so relaxing. It was perfect!

Great Location

Lovely stay at the Dam Cottage. More than enough space for our family of five. The location is excellent, with a quick walk to the lake and a quick drive to the local mart / gas station if any last minute items are needed. New London downtown is also close.

we liked it so much we returned for a second stay a year later

We stayed at this same property last winter and had such a great experience that we returned this year (the best kind of review is a repeat stay, right?) Stephanie is a great host: great communication, clean property, and helpful tips on local amenities. It works well for a family with two good sleeping rooms, nice kitchen, and cozy common areas.

Great Clean Little House

Great Clean Little House, well stocked. We had a wonderful time celebrating New Years. House was clean and new and just what we wanted. Close walk to Lake Pleasant just across the street. Close to all the stores and restaurants in New London. Also, close to ski slopes of Sunapee. Will definitely rent again !

The house was comfortable.make sure you bring your electronic wall charger plugs. We did. Heat worked well.Beds were comfortable. Had a musty smell every time you came in to the place. But would soon disappear. Could use a rubber Matt in the bathtub. I fell in the shower. But all is well. A very nice relaxing place.

Fantastic Cottage.

Loved this cottage. It was much larger than I expected. Comfy beds and furniture and a fully equipped kitchen. Plenty of room for the 4 adults we had in house. Nice little walk to the end of the lake to watch the sunset and sip coffee in the morning. We visited with a plan to ride the Northern Railtrail and it all went perfect. A 5 mile mostly downhill ride to the trailhead then about 35 flat miles from Andover to Lebanon. Good times!

Peaceful & Quaint- Steps away from a serene NH lake

The cottage was perfect for a long Labor Day weekend stay close to Colby Sawyer College and New London Main St. We took a relaxing walk to Elkins Beach and the kids enjoyed the playground amongst a beautiful mountain lake backdrop. The cottage is clean and had everything in order to be perfectly comfortable. Stephanie was accommodating in the best way allowing us an early check-in once she found out we were visiting our daughter as a new student athlete at CSC. What a welcome to a new community! Will definitely stay again and highly recommend as a perfect stay for a family of 4 (or 5 as bunk beds would accommodate 3 younger children).

A Real Gem on a Gorgeous Lake!

My husband and I traveled from Delaware to New Hampshire for a family wedding. The house is great! Impeccably clean, very comfortable well appointed. The beds were really comfy too. There was a tremendous amount of thought that went into creating this travel experience. And on top of all this is the location....across the street from a beautiful lake. Perfection! Stephanie (the host) was so responsive and great to deal with. We highly recommend this property. Book it if you can ....you won't regret it!

Comfy, well-appointed cottage

This cottage was very comfortable, nicely decorated without being cluttered, and is a very nice use of the space. The location was great, right near the public beach and very close to New London's stores and several great restaurants. Easy to get to right off the interstate. We had no shortage of hiking opportunities extremely close by. There were lots of little extras, like a Bose speaker, access to Netflix, etc., and "local attractions" info from the host. We will definitely look to stay here again on a future trip. Even though just two of us, it would be comfortable for another couple or some kids. A very bright, clean, happy space. The host was very easy to reach and responsive.

We loved that little Dam Cottage!!!

Everything was amazing at this property!!! It had everything that we needed and more. Loved how prepared the owners were with prep for what people would need. Loved that she even had beach towels there for us. Perfect place for our family of four and a great location. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you for making it feel like a home for us while away.

This house is perfect for 5 people. Location is great as it is directly across from Pleasant Lake. If you are looking for a relaxing place but also want activities and the like, this is a great little spot for that!
