Steffi's Stuga (little lake cottage): Relax and Re-energize near Lake Erie!

If you are looking for a cozy base to explore the magic of Lake Erie and Chautauqua County, look no further! This one bedroom 600 square foot open concept cottage (formerly listed as La Casita) is conveniently located on Route 5 in Westfield NY, just minutes from NYS Thruway Exit 60.

Relax on the covered porch with your morning coffee and watch the birds flit around the edge of the forest. Take a short walk or bike ride to world-class fishing in Chautauqua Creek. Sun, beachcomb and enjoy spectacular sunsets at nearby Barcelona Beach, just a half mile down the road. Tour more than 20 nearby wineries, visit a thriving weekly Farmer’s Market, sample local specialties at a variety of restaurants from downhome to elegant, kayak on Lake Erie or Chautauqua Lake, or visit well-known summer destinations Chautauqua Institution and Lily Dale Assembly.

The open and airy living room/great room offers a comfortable area to talk, read, scroll the internet, or watch Roku; it also has room for two twin beds, if needed. A separate bedroom has a double bed and spacious closets. The kitchen is equipped with coffee maker and toaster, along with stove, fridge, microwave, and ice maker. The counter offers a place to eat, work, or keep the cook company as they whip up dinner. A washer and dryer are provided in the bathroom, along with a shower stall (no tub).

There is ample parking and a space for a boat/trailer, a shed to store your outside toys, and a firepit where you can watch the stars come out as you wind down after a full day of adventuring, playing, or…relaxing! Almost an acre of woods surrounding the backyard makes you forget how close to civilization you are! PLEASE NOTE: there is no beach access with this property, but Barcelona Beach is just ½ mile down the road.

I first discovered this comfortable cottage as a guest looking for a place to recharge and write after a rough year. It reminded me of the “stugas,” or rustic cottages near lakes, that I remember from my childhood in Scandinavia. This is where everyone goes each summer to reconnect with nature and family …no wonder these countries rank so high on the world happiness scale! I'm now delighted to be able to share the enchantment of this “Stuga” with guests of my own!
