We loved this place. The Gallery Guesthouse was perfect size for our family of 5 ( 2 adults and 3 kids.) Clean and cute- we were happy to come home here each night. Despite the heat outside, the air conditioners kept the apartment cool and we all slept very well. The neighborhood could not be more charming. There is a small park a block away and Bedford ave ( about 3 blocks away) is so charming- great restaurants, shopping, etc. The Bedford subway station is about a 10 min walk and the subway is easy to take into Manhattan. We spent 2 weeks in New York and this was the best place we stayed. Five people in a hotel room is just too many! It was great to have the luxury of SPACE as well as a kitchen. We also took advantage of the washer and dryer- which is much needed on such a long trip. I will look back fondly on my trip and indeed- the 5 nights I stayed in Brooklyn were the highlight of the trip. Loved it!
We (a group of four) had rented this apartment from 3rd to 10th of June. The location in Williamsburg was virtually perfect for us–it offers a large variety of interesting shops, cafés, and restaurants in the vicinity and it is only about 10 minutes on foot from the next subway station (Metrostation L), from where it is only a short way to Union Square/Manhattan.
The apartment is rather plainly equipped and specklessly clean and has a nice and cozy atmosphere. Instead of a living room there is a neat little garden area. The garden furniture is somewhat aged and could do with a refurbishment.
That the apartment is a walk down apartment was not mentioned in the ad.
All bedrooms are cooled by pretty noisy window airconditioners so airing the
bedroom just by opening the window was not possible.
Regrettably there is a huge–and likely long term–construction site immediately behind the house/garden about which we have not at all been informed in advance. So, from 7.30 in the morning on 5 week days we had to deal with an extremely high noise level in the garden-bedroom, the kitchen and particulary in the garden, our breakfast place and livingroom.
Confronted with this the otherwise very polite owner – he is living in the same house 1 floor above - let us know by email that he “hadn’t heard any noise in the garden at noon”.
We stayed for 4 days in the NYC area for a wedding and loved the Gallery Guesthouse. We didnt' get to check out the neighborhood as much as we would have liked as we spent a lot of time in other parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan for wedding events but the little we did see what great. There are two great coffee shops within 2 blocks and within easy walking distance to many great restaurants and bars. It was relatively a quite neighborhood but seemed even more so in the backyard/patio. We had planned on having grandma stay with us, however, ended up getting her a hotel room. She wasn't able to navigate the space with her walker and the bathrooms aren't ideal for people with disabilities. However, we knew it wasn't marketed this way so were anticipating the additional hotel room in the end anyway. Overall, great place. Looking forward to staying again.
My childhood girlfriends and I decided to get away from the kids, husbands and responsibilities for a weekend, so we stayed at the Gallery Guesthouse. It was everything I thought it would be, based on the photos and description, and more! The kitchen was useful for saving money and staying in for some meals. It was a short walk to the L train to Manhattan, great brunch spots and a nice view of Manhattan by the river. The garden patio was perfect for enjoying a peaceful cup of coffee in the morning. The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. 2 bathrooms and showers made getting ready with 5 other ladies easy. Roy was very professional and accommodating. He made sure everything was taken care of & then he left us to enjoy our weekend. He let us check out later than expected, which gave us some extra time to explore the area and enjoy each other's company! Thank you, Roy! I will surely be back!
We loved our stay in the Gallery Guesthouse. The apartment is a short walk to 2 different subway stations that made it easy to get into Manhattan to visit a number of attractions. Plus the local neighborhood had plenty of great places to eat and grab a coffee or glass of wine. My teenagers enjoyed the cinema a couple blocks away and the Citi-bikes plus having their own space. The guesthouse is sunny and roomy- The beds very comfortable and it's quiet at night. It was so nice to have 2 bathrooms and the washer & dryer came in handy too. I've already recommended to a friend who's visiting this summer!
Such a cool property.... The owner Roy is courteous and very responsive. The Gallery Guesthouse is very clean and well-appointed. Nice courtyard in the back.... Perfect home base for our Brooklyn adventure.
