A mountain retreat in the woods yet close to everything! Get away to a relaxing, restful, restorative place. You will enjoy each other while gathering around the fireplace or at the firepit and sip a hot drink while taking in the clean mountain air and surroundings.

Nearby, explore endless hiking and biking trails like the AT and Tsali. For adrenaline junkies there’s whitewater rafting, ziplines, or kayaking on the Nanatahala River with the NOC. Fish and ski on nearby Fontana lake or visit the Fontana dam. The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad scenic train with special adventures like the Polar Express, etc, is only 15 minutes away in Bryson City. Bryson City is a quaint mountain town with shopping, restaurants, micro breweries, and the grocery store, Ingles.

Mallard Cove is a large 4/3 private family, mountain side home with 2,886 sq. ft. on over 3 acres. The cottage boasts 2 full kitchens, living and dining areas in addition to 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. You'll enjoy lakeside views while nestled amongst the trees on a small 5+ acre lake, which is stocked with bass and other freshwater fish. Great location for family outings including fishing from the shared floating dock, swimming, kayaking, hiking, playing ball in the 5 acre grassy field or playing in the running stream.

With two kitchens and living quarters, this home is great for a small group to spread out, or 2 families/multiple generations sharing one home for your mountain getaway. You can BBQ in the secluded treed backyard or roast marshmallows in the rock rimmed firepit while overlooking the fish stocked small lake. There is only one other home nearby with the owners only visiting a few weeks out of the year.

Room for 3 cars to park. If you would like to bring a boat on a trailer, there is a tight turn near the entrance to the driveway, which could be a problem. Please contact us so we can give you an alternate parking location for your boat. The alternate parking is free and in our association property.

Basement level has a Living Room, Kitchen, Dining, Laundry room, Fireplace, a Master bedroom and Master Bath with a lovely patio area.

Main level features a Living Room, Fireplace, Kitchen/Dining, Master Bedroom/Bath, Large covered porch, Large Deck in front.

Upstairs has two bedrooms and bath. Each room has its personal charm.

This home has it all and a small lake. Easy access. The community offers a Pavilion for family outings, 2 shuffleboard courts to entertain the family after a day of sightseeing, hiking trails, large field for family fun and fishing, kayaking, and swimming in the small lake area.

All consumable products are renters responsibility to bring. There will be a starter amount of paper products/soap for the first day or so. Ingles in Bryson City is where most people do their provisioning.

5 minutes from several area attractions including 29 mile long Fontana lake with more than 240 miles of shoreline. Tsali recreation area which has been dubbed- Mountain Biking area in the East. Tsali also boasts horse riding trails and FREE public boat ramp to launch your motor boat. Alarka or Prince Marinas in the area also rent boats for a daily fee.

5 minutes - Fontana Lake swimming, water-skiing, canoeing, and boat rentals for a fun day on a beautiful fresh-water lake.

5 minutes - Tsali recreation area’s famous mountain biking trails for adventure.

15 minutes - Nantahala Outdoor Center for kayaking, rafting, zip-lining, and horseback riding!

15 minutes - restaurants, tourist shopping, and the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad in Bryson City.

20 minutes - river tubing at Deep Creek.

25 minutes - casino at Cherokee for gambling or top name music performers.

Our Western North Carolina location is just over an hour to Asheville and 3 hours to Atlanta.

FINE PRINT:

1. Primary renter must be at least 25 years old and present the entire stay.

2. Our cabin is dog friendly with a $60 FEE per pet. you must get pre-approval by adding the pet to your reservation and telling us how many. If more than one is approved, we will send you a link to pay for the additional dog since the reservation application only allows to include one dog. We ask for a short description of each pet but typically approve all breeds. Undeclared pets will result in loss of your security deposit. Also, to avoid losing deposit, please do not allow dogs on furniture or in bedrooms, at any time, and when unattended (including at night) MUST be in a kennel or take them with you on a leash to explore the very pet friendly area. Dogs must always be on a leash anywhere outside of the cabin. Please do not allow dogs to bark or be a nuisance to others in the valley. Always clean up after your dog to avoid an extra cleaning fee.
3) No fireworks, sparklers, or any other burning object on property except wood (can purchase firewood at nearby gas stations and grocery stores) in the firepit in backyard. When finished at firepit, you Must extinguish all flames and embers before leaving the firepit. No smoking except in driveway or by firepit. Fully extinguish butts and properly place in bin, not on the ground. DO NOT open gas fireplace screen or move gas logs.
Pre-approved late checkout may be available for a fee.
Additional cleaning services can be scheduled during your extended stay for an additional fee. Fee depends on what services you want, please communicate in the chat before or during your stay.

Please note that checkout is by 10 am. Late checkout without prior approval to confirm availability that day will result in a $50 late fee for each half hour after 10 am. Often there is a new guest arriving on the day of your departure so late checkout can not be approved. Pre-approved late checkout is on a case by case basis and the charge is determined by the amount of time extended.
If late fee or damages are
not paid within 3 days of departure the security deposit will be forfeited.
