Such a wonderful relaxing home! The location is so peaceful and beautiful. We were here for a long weekend and enjoyed watching the swans and other birds from the house and dock area. You feel like you are in the middle of a park, but the house is still very convenient to many restaurants and shopping. We hiked at the Cranberry Bog Nature Preserve, visited the Big Duck in Flanders, and just hung out enjoying the view. The host provided great info about the home and area. The space was comfortable for us and our adult kids. Great kitchen for cooking. We'd love to visit again when we have more time to explore the area.

This was our second stay at this property. We returned because of the location and the comfortable rooms for being together. The living and dining room are ample and the kitchen is well stocked. The view of the river is very nice. There are several restaurants close by (although you will want to drive since the house is on a busy road).

Long Island Get Away

We enjoyed our stay at Randy’s. The Riverhead location was central enough for us to comfortably make day trips in all directions. At the end of the day, it was lovely to come back to the house and enjoy the beautiful view - from the window on a rainy day and from the dock on nicer days. We loved watching all the wildlife - swans and otters especially.

Beautiful Location

We stayed for a long weekend at this house. The location along the river is very nice. We enjoyed watching the wildlife through the living room window (it was too cold to be outside but the outside looks very comfortable also). The house is on Main Street which is a busy road. However, in the back of the house, the noise is not loud. It can be difficult to see where to turn but the telephone pole in front is marked with stripes which helped a lot. The kitchen is well supplied. The living room/dining room are very comfortable.

Homeowner great! VRBO communications terrible

House was basic meeting all our needs. Views from deck and living room of Peconic perfect for bird watchers and nature lovers. Very relaxing. Homeowner assistance and advice throughout stay was great. Communications with and responsiveness of VRBO was almost non existent. Attempts to contact almost always resulted in no response requiring me to go through Homeowner for assistance. Community and winery areas great to visit.

Beautiful Home and location

We stayed about 5 days. The VRBO description does not do this home justice. If you’re looking for a place surrounded by nature but still close to restaurants , stores , etc. then this is the place ! The home had a decent size kitchen , living spaces and bedrooms, and to our surprise the downstairs den was basically another small studio. Very comfortable home for 5 adults. Nothing better then starting and ending the day with the sound of nature and a nice cool breeze by the river. Randy was a great host , giving a ton of recommendations to great spots. He very informative and great with communication. Thank you Randy for your hospitality and sharing this beautiful home with us for our first trip to NY.

Nature observation is the draw

While this place is located along a busy road, in Riverhead, the back of the house saves it because you can observe gorgeous swans/ducks/herons/hawks, muskrats, turtles, and dense forest of the county park across Peconic River, all from your choice of inside or outside chairs. The inside is as beautiful as it looks.

Fantastic River View

Clean & Comfortable home overlooking the Peconic River. Large window in the living room gave a great view of the river. Saw swans everyday, also saw several deer swimming across. Lots of wildlife to enjoy! Randy, the homeowner, was friendly and helpful. Great area to visit wineries, go antiquing, etc. Great restaurants nearby. We tried On the Docks (weather was nice enough to sit outside at the marina, Tweeds in downtown Riverhead for great steaks and the Hellenic diner on the way back to the ferry for breakfast. Long Island kayaks was a great find, though I think they just closed for the season. Great area with lots to do. We very much enjoyed staying in this house!

Hidden Gem in the Heart of Everything

I really didn't want to write a review for our stay. Because I always want it to remain OUR stay ONLY! But ok ...From the moment we walked in the door I felt as if we stumbled upon a hidden gem. That we pulled in off a major road was immediately forgotten once we took our first step up to the front porch.We first passed through the very tidy & cozy kitchen which had just enough retro flare to warm me with nostalgia of my grandmom's pantry. As we advanced further we were greeted by a panoramic view of the river. If you would not be in awe of watching a family of swans glide by or can't manage to chuckle at a beaver and his partner in crime waddle across the dock then I can understand you not being impressed as much as we were. The terraced and beautifully planted back yard just generously opens to you as rose petals do. If we didn't step out to shop for necessities we would have been just fine. The house was so well appointed and stocked. What an amazing host! A quick note about the area: Great diversity of EVERYTHING YOU NEED & simply WANT! The house is nestled in the midst of eclectic and affordable eateries, all shopping (note under 5 min to the Outlets), a destination water park & aquarium w/in 5 min, some of the country's top wineries and ocean beaches within 20 min, and W Main is a straight drive into a vibrant riverfront commercial district that hosts weekly street fairs & free outdoor concerts. Oh.. and the sunrises and sunsets that stretch over North Fork farmlands.....What more can I say but MAKE TIME FOR YOURSELVES HERE (just please not when we want to return lol).

I get very involved in causes planning for a better future on the East End. Hope you will enjoy your stay and not hesitate to ask me for whatever will make it better and more fun. The photos shows Mickey and me at an outdoor art festival in Riverhead a couple of years ago.

Darum fiel die Entscheidung auf diese Unterkunft

I walked in and on seeing the sweeping river-views from the living, dining and master bedroom; I knew it was the one. Our son had just moved from Brooklyn to Riverhead which made us realize what a wonderful town it has become. The house is elevated above any flooding danger, however the river comes close for panoramic sight-lines from the house in both directions or one can be surrounded by river on the private dock. The road makes it convenient to all but does have some traffic that can be heard in the front yard but not the house or back-yard. It can only be rented once in a 30 day period so let me know if you want a reduced rate for a shorter period.

Walk into the main level and the living, dining, eat-in-kitchen, two bedroom and upper level bath have all you might need. The lower level family room and studio with a picture-window door to the dining patio has been great this summer for a family's 20 year old. She took over the lower level with its own entry, smart TV, kitchenette without stove, as well as private bathroom. The lower level is also great to support outdoor barbecuing with the propane grill. Neighbors on each side are lovely.
