Enjoy farmer's markets, town festivals, and the beach in the summer, gorgeous colors on display in the dense woods and rolling farmland in the fall, and public and private trails for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. The river is refreshing, clean, and clear with a sandy bottom, the nearby Kal-Haven Trail offers 35 miles of adventure for biking, running, hiking, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing enjoyment. Kayaking on the Black River and the Kalamazoo is available for 1-, 2-, or 3-hour tours. The house has two furnaces, one for each floor, and is cool in summer, and cozy and warm in the winter. A short drive away is the Bittersweet and Timber Ridge ski areas; lessons, rentals, and daily lift tickets are available. Downtown South Haven has an open-air ice-skating rink with a fireplace.
