Custom woodwork home, 1/2 acres, located on Jonas Ridge twenty-three miles north of Morganton, and minutes from Grandfather Mountain. It also 5 miles away from Linville Falls, Linville caverns. The house set deep in the wood with a very quiet and relaxing environment. This house is furnished to meet the needs of a group of 6, but cozy enough to feel like a luxurious getaway for family travelers and couples alike. There is a large kitchen with a full dining table, two large bathrooms, three bedrooms, Big outdoor areas, and a washer/dryer in the home for your use. Also the house has internet service and Wifi in all over the house.

Spend twilight among the trees, spend an evening under the stars & with peace of escaping the big cities and work. No pets are allowed.

Dual sport riding

We rode dual sport motorcycles out of the house each day, it was a great location for this and worked really well for us.

Enjoyed our secluded visit.

The house was very clean and all as expected. An added plus is the wonderful porch around half of the house which is not shown in the photo. Very secluded if you are concerned about being in woods alone! No central a/c however the week I was there needed neither heat or A/C. Perfect temps! Grounds needed attention and could not get the dishwasher to work are only complaints.

Disappointing

The location of this property was not good. The house next door was boarded up and appeared to be abandoned. The view from the front porch was a cemetery. The backside of the house was a view of the boarded-up house and a fuel tank. The view on the side of the house was trees.Inside the house, we were met by an incredible stench of cigarette smoke. There was trash in the kitchen trash can. The rug in the living room was old, worn, and stained. The commodes did not flush well and needed to be plunged almost every time they were used. The bed linens smelled sour like they had been left in the washer for days. All of the linen was worn and thin and needs to be replaced. The towels in the bathroom were old and worn; some had bleach stains as if used for cleaning. Speaking of cleanliness, we lost count of the number of stinkbugs, crickets, and ants we killed. The house needs to be exterminated. We reached under the couch to find something that was dropped and were appalled at the filth under there. Other areas of the home have not been cleaned properly. There was no soap in the master bath, and no trash bags for the kitchen can. We had to go to Walmart to purchase these things. Very, very unhappy with our stay. We DO NOT recommend this place for anyone to stay. We surely will not return!

Nice Stay!

Enjoyed our time here. Everything was great. Minor issues were that the dishwasher didn't work, but the hosts were prompt in getting it to work and providing us with paper plates and cutlery. Wifi was not great either but this was fine, it gave us time to disconnect from our phones. Hosts were very responsive and helpful.

Great cabin, but the yard needs some work

The cabin itself is beautiful inside and out, but the surroundings are anything but pristine. Some landscaping definitely needs to be done around the place. And the old abandoned mobile home nearby is a creepy eye sore. Maybe plant some bushes or trees to block it out? Still, the location is pretty nice overall, with short drives to many of the area's attractions. I strongly suggest getting a printed map of the area, as google will get you going the LONG way everywhere, and there are some nice shortcuts.

Disappointed

We stay at a lot of Vrbo properties so we have a good baseline of other properties . The oven is on it’s last legs. The bottom oven does not work and the top oven took 30 minutes to preheat . We bring food so this ruined much of our cooking . We were also never told that this property sits right next to a condemned abandoned property/house. Also front property looks out at shed and tractors. It is not luxurious as advertised . Master bedroom bathroom was not clean- hair on floor and the smoke detector over the bed in that room had an open carpartment meaning the battery was out so it was non functional. It was not a place we would rent again.

Not Private, No Heat

While the interior of the house was gorgeous, this home did not have the location I had hoped for (my fault), was not private (man drives by on four wheeler with a gun) and we didn't know the home had no central heat. And we had no instructions or Guest Arrival Letter, so we had no idea how to turn on the heaters. We called the owner and he came right over which was a great relief. He taught us how to turn on the heat downstairs (the next day) and told us we could carry up portable heaters to heat our room or turn on the electric blankets. (??) Missing some kitchen items (coffee filters) but I thought the home was centrally located to great day drives, including snow tubing!! This home is just not for me.

Perfect for what we needed

We had a good time in the cabin but there were a few hiccups. After a few attempts to reach the host we had to call while standing at the door to get the code. Some attempts failed due to no answer from them but mostly due to horrible service in the mountains, which they can’t control that part. Be sure to have the code before getting in the mountains. Once we were finally in, the house smelled like smoke, one bedroom upstairs particularly smelled of cigarette smoke it definitely was not from the fireplace. After finding ashtrays in the house it confirmed this is not a non smoking house. I’m not saying it was advertised as a non smoking house, I just now know I need to ask before we book again. The house was clean and the layout is great. The kitchen could be a little better stocked for kitchen gadgets like a full set of measuring cups and maybe a blender. The oven was not in the best working order it took forever to heat them. I was pretty sure somewhere I read there were games in the house so we did not bring any and there was only 1 monopoly game and a puzzle. I don’t say this as a complaint more just as a heads up so the next guests know what to bring. Also, it was listed that there was a whirlpool/hot tub. We did not see one. All in all the trip was good. The cabin is in a great location and we were able to go to several places. The tubing at Jonas Ridge was so close and convenient which was the main reason for our entire trip. Thank you, we would book again.

Just what we needed

I selected this home because it had exactly the right amount of bedrooms and type of beds that we needed. 2 of bedrooms are located upstairs so disabled sister and brother in law stayed in the master bedroom downstairs. Comfortable stay. Even though rental was already paid for Vrbo didn't have check in code posted 4 days before check-in but did help me obtain it from the owner.

We would stay here again.

As senior sisters from Florida wanting to explore the Blueridge, this property met our every need. Easy access to parkway, clear instructions from the owner for easy access to the property itself, comfortable beds after a long day of exploring. Internet access (which we had already learned was not true throughout the area) and Direct TV which allowed us to watch the Phillies play one cold evening. Temperatures dropped drastically (if you're from Florida), but the heat in the house kept us quite cozy.

We enjoyed our stay

The property was very nice. It had pretty much everything someone would need. Jonas Ridge Tube Park is close by and easy to get to from the cabin. Linville Falls and Linville Caverns are nearby as well. We would definitely return for another great trip.

This property is located on the mountain and is at the quiet location. You were able to see wild turkeys, deers in the morning. It is 25 minutes away from sugar mountain and convenient to drive back and forth. We enjoyed Jonas Ridge snow tubing that is 12 mins away from this property. Property was clean and we enjoyed family time with out 2 year old.
