My family and I had such a wonderful stay at Vermont West ! The house was cozy and welcoming. My kids loved running around the trails and swinging on the swing set. And the kitchen was plenty big for 6 people. We visited House on The Rock, Taliesin, Mineral Point, and Spring Green. Highly recommend all!!

Beautiful location and wish we could have spent more leisure time enjoying the outdoors. We were busy seeing plays at American Players Theater. The kitchen was set up well and the bedrooms were great.

This is a wonderful property. The home is comfortable and it is nicely maintained. It also had many nice “add on” items, coffee bean grinder, choice of teas, several spices in the cabinet, lots of games, etc. The grounds are lovely for walking, with a gurgling brook and a fire pit area. While a bit away from a town, lots of activities and things to do within a 20-25 minute drive, and the drives are through lovely Wisconsin countryside. Hosts were responsive to questions and very welcoming in their communications. A five star experience.

We enjoyed our stay at this clean, beautiful country home with a tranquil wooded view. There was plenty of room for our group to visit comfortably in the main sitting area, along with a smaller nook off to the side which provided some privacy without complete isolation. The kitchen was spacious and well-stocked. I particularly loved the eclectic decor which made the home feel like a visit to to Grandma's cozy home. It is in a secluded area about a 15-20 minute drive to Dodgeville to the south, or Spring Green to the north, which made this an ideal home base, as we wanted to visit sites in both directions. This home was well worth the visit, and we were all glad to have booked it for our trip. We would like to thank our hosts for a memorable stay.

Nice old farm house that has been updated on a large property near Spring Green. We have stayed here over multiple years as a base for many of the attractions Spring Green has to offer including American Players Theater, Canoeing the Wisconsin River, House on the Rock, and Governor Dodge State Park.

Wonderful weekend getaway for the adults.

Lovely getaway weekend

Very comfortable house on a beautiful pastoral property. Is about 20 mins fro sprimg green, where we enjoyed a Taliesin tour and a trip to American Players Theater. We enjoyed grilling our dinner, eating on the patio after sunset, coffee on the front porch, and games around the kitchen table. Beru comfortable and relaxing getaway

Vermont West is a beautiful, serene retreat

What a wonderful property. Secluded, serene, and beautiful. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed an American Players Theater show and a farm dinner in Dodgeville. The home was perfectly situated for our needs. The hosts were super communicative and responsive. I can’t praise this place enough. Will definitely come back!

Last Minute Getaway

We wanted a little trip before summer ended and saw a segment on WTTW about Dodgeville and all the sites in the area and had to check it out. Vermont West is a charming farmhouse tucked into the hills surrounded by beautiful rolling hills, farms and nature. The interior is just as perfect. Kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals. Bedrooms were so comfortable. The hosts were gracious and accommodating. It was the perfect home base after checking out the local attractions (House on the Rock, Taliesin, Dodge State Park, Wisconsin River…) We loved VW!!!

So peaceful

Sweet farmhouse on a lovely property, surrounded by trees and lawn and farmland. You will hear the occasional farm vehicle, but mostly just birds birds birds. The house is perfect for a getaway and miles away from other people. Wifi is fine for checking email and light streaming but probably not for working remotely or playing Fortnite. Easy drives to grocery stores in Spring Green or Dodgeville, and outings to Taliesin or Mineral Point. Owners are respectfully distant but available and friendly if needed. We're happy we went.

Thanks Susan for your review! Regarding the internet, we are happy to provide 3MB download speed, as it's the limit of our provider being so remote. The 3MB is able to support streaming platforms, including movies, with no past issues. We are glad you enjoyed your stay!

Great place to stay!

The house was very clean, kitchen well stocked, and large kitchen table - great for a group. Linens on beds nice quality, box fans in every room if needed, A/C works great. Nice front porch over looking the front yard and firepit area. Walk up the hill in back and watch the sunset, and be sure to walk the trail around the house. Tons of books, games, toys, croquet, bocce ball etc. They thought of everything....Nice large gas grill in back works great too. Piggly Wiggly in town is nice too... be sure not to forget anything as it's about 20 minutes back to town. Walmart in Dodgeville too.Our cell phones worked in the house w/VZ but was a little spotty (FYI). Gave house phone number to family in case needed, so not a big deal what so ever.Had a hiccup at first booking (which was my fault) and the owner was quick to resolve my mistake.For sure recommend this property! Pictures on this listing are exactly as the property is in real life.Enjoy - you won't be disappointed!

Our stay at Vermont West

We had no internet/tv the entire stay. Landline could only make local calls and owners phone number was not local. We were not able to conect to wifi or data at all to call in and report the issue. The kitchen chairs need to be tightened up. My elderly disabled mother fell out of one due to it being very wobbly. The spongy areas of the floor and slippery rugs were not condusive to a walker. We would have loved to be able to do laundry while we were there. We enjoyed that the kitchen was fullly stocked with the needed tools to easily cook. I loved that there were plenty of books and games. The location itself is beautiful! It is so serene and relaxing.

While doing the walk through after the guest had checked out, we observed the tv and internet cables had been unplugged. Upon check in, the guest communicated with us regarding entry, however, states that they were unable to communicate with us during their stay. Clearly, this is incorrect. Our profile pictures show both rugs and carpet within the guest house and state that laundry is not an amenity. We are happy that our guests found our guest house relaxing, but they may want to consider the needs of their elderly mother when reserving a property moving forward. Our guest house required a deep cleaning after this stay, of which they acknowledged and apologized. Unfortunately, no communication was made during their stay regarding any potential house issues, despite the ability to communicate upon arrival.
