Named for owners Great Grandfather's boat" Hattie Creef" that brought Orville and Wilber Wright to Kitty Hawk for America's First Flight.
The Cottage is a three story, three bedroom cottage steps from the beach and the Avalon Pier. Plenty of decks to watch the sunrise and the sunset. A quick walk to Awful Authors Restaurant and Seafood Bar.
1. Towels and linens provided.
2. Two queen bedrooms and 1 bunk room (2 Twins).
3. Outside shower.
4. Garage with front and back overhead door - excellent for entertaining.
5. Keurig coffee maker - need K cups

We had a wonderful vacation! The house was amazing! So clean, beautifully decorated, comfortable and well-built! Anything we could possibly need was provided. You need to be comfortably with stairs because there are four levels to the house. On the street level is a garage made into a rec room with AC, a frig, sink and counter. Out back is a beautiful bar with stools, a charcoal grill, an outdoor shower and hoses to rinse off your feet and gear. Beach toys, boogie board, beach wagon and two beach umbrellas all available. Plenty of towels and linens. Up a short set of stairs to a half bathroom/ laundry room. Continue up to second floor that has the three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a deck off the master BR and the kids' room. Third level is the open area with LR, DR and kitchen and yet another deck. Finally the top deck on the fourth level is great for sunsets and views of the beach. It is an easy walk to the beach. Go down the road, then take a left past Awful Arthur's to the crosswalk which takes you right to the beach entrance. We were very happy here!

Perfect Home

The layout and location of this home is perfect. This is our second stay and would definitely plan our vacation there again. I love to cook so the kitchen and living room being on the top floor with all the windows is a wonderful view and a great place to spend time with the family. I couldn’t say enough about how beautiful this home is.

Perfect Location

This house is located one block away from the beach which was perfect for those late night beach visits and a morning sunrise. There are multiple decks on every level including chairs on each which was really nice. The top deck even had a perfect view of the beach to watch the sunrise without even having to walk to the beach. The bedrooms were very nice and so were the bathrooms. Kitchen was very well stocked and the sofa was beyond comfy. The basement area was definitely a great addition! There were a few areas that could have used a little more TLC from the cleaning crew, but overall our stay was awesome and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Henry.

My family has been coming to the obx for over 30 years. It was by far the nicest house weve ever stayed. The house had everything you needed,steps away from the beach and very very clean. Henry was so easy to communicate with and made check in and check out a breeze. We will definitely be returning.

Wonderful!

The Hattie Creef house was perfect for our vacation. The set up worked great for our family, there was plenty of space for us to be together and be apart! Very well stocked with paper goods, soaps, towels, etc... The location was exactly where we wanted to be. Beach, fishing pier, restaurants and bars all within walking distance. We wish we could have stayed longer! :-)

Amazing stay in OBX

This was our second year in OBX, and first time renting this house. The pictures do not do justice! It was the perfect house for our family vacation. Plenty of space for the four of us, and plenty of family time spaces as well. You can’t find a bad view from any of the many decks. The short walk to the beach and Avalon pier was a huge plus, and made for a great time. We highly recommend this house to anyone looking for a great stay in OBX.

Encore Visit Just As Nice

This was our second visit in as many years; we returned because we had such a great experience the summer of 2023. The property is in good location to the beach and area quiet as beach neighborhoods go. The property is beautiful and well stocked. Owner is super responsive and keeps you updated on rental regularly. We really enjoyed the outdoor grill and cornhole boards which made for a great family time. There are stores close by for any needs, Target within walking distance. The only drawback to consider is the number of stairs in the home should anyone have difficulty managing stairs. We had a fabulous time!

Beautiful Home!

Hattie Creef is a beautifully decorated beach house. Check in was smooth and the house was immaculate. Beach is a short walk down the street and the Avalon pier is right there as well. Henry is wonderful and communicates well with regards to the house and your stay. Will definitely consider going back in the future!

Happiness

Hattie Creef is what vacation should be. A place to relax, forget about real life, and just enjoy time with family. Henry is attentive, responsive, and keeps the house in immaculate condition allowing for a stress free stay. We’ve been coming here for 3 years and never had an issue. Life is good when you stay at Hattie and you’ll be sad the day you have to leave.

Beautiful house and great location

Perfect house for our family of 4 with plenty of space and great decks to enjoy relaxing on when not at the beach or exploring the area. Super clean, great views of the ocean, and a very short convenient walk to the beach. House is also close to pretty much anything you could need or want to do in the area. Henry was excellent with communication. Checkin and checkout were a breeze.

relaxing vaca

I am. a vacation rental snob and I gave this place 5 stars. The house was clean, updated, beautifully decorated, beds were comfortable, plenty of linens and well stocked kitchen. It was a very short walk to the beach and close to a pier with live music several nights a week .Excellent restaurants nearby. Overall a great place to stay. We had a great time. Love the decks for drinking our coffee in the mornings. The garage room was a perfect hangout for our 2 teenagers. Only improvements for us would have been twin beds instead of bunks for 6 ft .boys.

Relaxing Family Trip

You know it was a wonderful vacation when the kids get home and say they miss the vacation home. The house was in pristine condition and very comfortable. It was easy access to the beach and the parking pass was helpful when we didn’t want to walk. Great communication with the owner. We all had an enjoyable time!

Wonderful Family Getaway

We brought our daughter,son-in-law, and 2 grandchildren under age 2 for a family vacation and had a marvelous time. The weather was perfect and the home was spacious, clean, and well stocked with pretty much anything needed. I would highly recommend this home and was pleased with the quick responsiveness in all of my email and text correspondences. My only recommendation would be for families bringing toddlers that a gate may be helpful in keeping the little ones in the family area and not trying to go down the steps...overall though the we were very comfortable and that was a minor detail. A+ week at the beach!
