## Emplacement
Since January 1, 2019, the new commune, Glières-Val-de-Borne, is part of the Community of Communes Faucigny-Glières and the canton of Bonneville, with a population of nearly 1,800 inhabitants, the Gliérois and the Gliéroises. It is an entity of more than 7312 hectares, largely on the Glières plateau, which is part of the Arve watershed.
The inhabitants of Entremont and Petit-Bornand-les-Glières are linked by a common history. For more than 600 years they were under the yoke of the Canons of the Entremont Abbey, until their emancipation in 1772. The two communes were created in 1774. In 1860, after the attachment of Savoy to France, Petit-Bornand and Entremont belonged to a privileged tax-free zone, the "zone franche", which lasted until 1923. In 1940, the regrouping of numerous maquisards took place on the Glières plateau. Petit-Bornand and Entremont served as relays for supplies and Resistance connections. Tom Morel, leader of the Glières maquis, was murdered in Entremont. In 1945, Petit-Bornand was cited in the army's order and saw its name added to that of Glières. On the Glières plateau, the Émile Gilioli monument was erected in 1973. It was inaugurated by André Malraux on September 2 and is dedicated to the resistance fighters who died on the plateau.
Known for its dairy cows and its production of farmhouse reblochon, the village of Petit-Bornand-les-Glières is also an important tourist destination in Haute-Savoie. With its authentic appearance and natural charm, it seduces visitors passing through the region.
