Bear Mountain Lakehouse on Privately-Owned Lake

Hello Jennifer! Thank you for your review! I wanted to inform you, and everyone, that we have since installed some sound dampening drywall on this adjoining wall. We still require that each guest quiet down their children a bit after 10 pm, but this drywall should help things! To note to anyone who may read this review, these children were particularly loud and broke a lamp and one of the bed frames.

Hello! We always strive at the Bear Mountain Ranch to ensure our guests have a safe and enjoyable stay. If you read the review above, PLEASE take a moment to read this response. We were not informed of these problems until the guest had left the property and were given no opportunity to provide any assistance. Also, there are several things objectively incorrect in this review that need addressing: 1. As stated in our welcome package, our foreman’s job is to take care of our animals and the ranch. He is available should our guests have any questions but does his best to stay out of the way. 2. Our quiet time is clearly posted and explained in our rules. There is soundproof sheetrock to dampen as much noise as possible in the property, and guests are only contacted with a courteous request if noise continues for an extended period of time and is loud enough that the foreman cannot sleep. We have had numerous large parties who had no issue with the quiet time. 3. The guests were not “welcomed” with gunshots within close proximity. As stated in our rules and welcome package, this is a working ranch which includes the safe use of firearms and large machinery by our foreman and other workers. Due to our wildlife, our foreman is trained and carries a firearm. The foreman tries to avoid any use of his firearm while guests are on the premises. On the day referenced above, he was not aware of their arrival and was preforming routine training with his firearm in our designated shooting range which is over a quarter of a mile from the guest quarters and faces away from all living quarters. Instead of consulting us about the noise, the guests chose to leave. 4. As stated in our welcome packet, we have limited internet access due to the rural nature of the property. While the Internet did run out during their stay, we do have access to more internet if they had alerted us to their internet running out. Additionally, we have just recently received our Starlink box which provides satellite internet coverage in rural areas through SpaceX. This will be installed in May of 2022 which should provide more and faster internet for our guests. 5. The gates on the property are not meant to keep anything inside our property except the animals. They have an automatic sensor that is triggered once a vehicle passes it to open the gates. 6. Please, note that we feel it is important to address the “update” posted on the review. We always strive to give our guests an enjoyable stay, and because they were unsatisfied, the ranch owners decided to give them a refund, though they provided us with no opportunity to address their above issues prior to leaving early. Despite what the review indicates, the ranch owners decided to refund the guests’ stay before this review was even posted. There was no “update” to the situation. The review (including the “update”) was posted at the same time - after the guests had already been given their refund. We are always striving to improve to provide a safe and fun experience for our guests. We are continuing to add additional signage to the property for easy directions to the lakehouse and also provide a very detailed welcome packet, so guests are fully informed about our property before they arrive. We always welcome any questions and ask that all our guests give us an opportunity to address any issues they may have during their stay. Bear Mountain Ranch is a beautiful and special place to us, and we are glad to be able to share it. Thank you for taking the time to read.
