Beautifully landscaped gardens surrounds you, with mature trees and a wrap-around porch that invites you to slow down and take in the air. Step inside through the bright, cosy entryway and you’re immediately met with light, space, and a sense of calm.

The living room is the heart of the home, with pitched ceilings that open the space and large sliding doors that frame the rural outlook beyond. A luxury leather sofa offers a comfortable place to gather, and easily transforms into a queen bed for additional guests when needed. A classic log burner with a stone surround brings warmth and atmosphere on cooler evenings, while occasional chairs create a relaxed, social setting for conversation or quiet moments. A TV is also available for relaxed nights in.

The kitchen is fully equipped and designed for proper holiday living, whether you’re preparing a grand breakfast or a shared family dinner. You’ll find everything you need, including an espresso machine, full cooking facilities, and generous bench space. Meals can be enjoyed inside at the dining table, or outside on the porch where an additional dining area lets you eat in the fresh air, surrounded by gardens and birdsong.

Serenity Cottage offers two comfortable bedrooms; a queen room that opens directly onto the porch, and a double bedroom tucked away for rest and privacy. The bathroom is a standout feature, spacious and beautifully styled with a clawfoot bath, tiled shower, and a unique stone basin that carries through the cottage’s rustic charm.

One of the most special features of Serenity Cottage is the outdoor hot tub, set on the deck just off the home. From here, you can soak in uninterrupted panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, a quiet, immersive moment of stillness at any time of day. In addition to this, guests also have access to a shared hot tub within the wider property.

Beyond the cottage, guests have access to the shared facilities across John Barron Retreat, including the fire pit area, gym, sauna, and additional hot tub. These spaces may also be shared with guests from the other accommodations on the property or the owners when in residence.

Serenity Cottage is ideally placed to explore the wider Wairarapa region. Just a short drive takes you to Martinborough’s renowned vineyards, cellar doors, and boutique restaurants. Spend your days cycling between wineries, wandering Greytown’s charming main street filled with cafés and independent shops, or simply staying close to home and enjoying the stillness of the countryside. The region is also known for its dark skies, offering incredible stargazing on clear nights.
