Seaside Treehouse Lodge - perched by the Northumberland strait

Perched at canopy height above the Northumberland Strait, the Seaside Treehouse Lodge offers a bird's eye view of one of eastern Canada's most unspoiled coastal waterways. Salt air drifts through the treetops. The beach is minutes away. The forest surrounds you, the meadow beneath you. This is a retreat built around a place that does most of the work itself- you simply have to show up and let it embrace you.
The Northumberland Strait is warm, sheltered and genuinely quiet. Wildlife is active and visible: eagles overhead, herons on the shoreline, deer at the forest edge. The soundscape here- water, wind, birdsong. The serenity and peacefulness is a shift most guests experience first hand and its effects on rest and clarity are significant.
The Lodge:
The structure is a heritage timber frame with an open concept floor plan and large deck for gatherings. The open-plan kitchen opens to the dining and living room areas. Either sitting cozy by the fireplace, lounging on the chaise for a tranquil moment, enjoying the hammocks by an outdoor fireplace and birdwatching from their perspective. The design is warm and functional, prioritizing comfort over statement.
Chef's Kitchen:
A full working kitchen with professional-grade appliances, generous prep surfaces, and an island that seats three to keep things social. Properly stocked kitchen for a full range of cooking options. Propane BBQ on deck so you can enjoy the view while socializing over the grill. Local seafood and lobster fresh from the fishermen. Produce and local goods from the region are exceptional and documented in the guest guide.
The Piano:
A grand piano sits on the balcony of the second floor overlooking the 30foot high great room. Available to any guest who wants to play. The acoustic environment of the lodge with its tall ceilings and wooden surfaces allow for the sound to resonate beautifully.
Projection TV:
Full screen 12 foot diagonal picture with high resolution image quality and surround sound audio. Streaming subscriptions are included, and guests may connect their own accounts.
Sauna:
A proper cedar sauna which seats 8 adjacent to the bathroom for easy access to a cool rinse for a full thermal contrast experience.
Workout area:
Stationary bicycle, elliptical machine along with weights in dedicated area by the projection TV. Workout to your favorite streaming routine or open the sliding door to the outdoor space of forest and seaview.
Fireplaces:
There are 3 wood burning fireplaces , 2 indoor and one on the deck and a propane fireplace in the primary bedroom. Depending on the NS fire regulations which are monitored daily, an open pit bonfire is also available. Firewood and kindling are provided.
Stargazing:
Light pollution is low here and on clear nights you can see the milky way light up and on occasion the aurora is visible as well.
The Beach:
2km away you will find Melmerby Beach, "warmest waters north of the Carolinas". The beaches here are sandy and tidal. Rentals of kayaks and SUP's available at the beach.
Hiking and Trails:
We are situated near multiple provincial parks with trail access of coastal areas and nearby forest.
The Outdoor Decks:
There are 2 decks. One is ensuite and private, attached to the primary bedroom perfect for morning coffee and a birdwatch. The second is an expansive deck on the main floor overlooking the Strait with lounge areas for sitting, hammocks for napping and large table for al fresco dining , all protected by a canopy so a summer rain does not change plans.
Bedrooms:
The primary bedroom is situated on the second floor and has an ensuite bathroom with a shower and wooden tub for a private spa moment . The propane fireplace for cooler evenings, and private balcony for morning coffee or a moment perched amongst the trees.
3 bedrooms in basement all with views of the meadow and Strait- each has its own style.
There is a very comfortable sofa couch in the living room and a spacious loft space on the 3rd floor which could accommodate multiple sleeping arrangements if needed.
