① Highlight of the Property

This spacious private mountain lodge is nestled in a quiet forest setting in Myoko. The building was originally constructed in 1978 and features the solid craftsmanship typical of traditional mountain lodges, including natural log pillars, a large stone fireplace, and stone foundation columns. The lodge was designed by Nikken Sekkei, one of Japan’s leading architectural firms, and offers a warm interior filled with natural materials.

During a major renovation in 2018, great care was taken to preserve the character and atmosphere of the original building. Many of the furnishings were handcrafted by a local wood artist, including the entrance door, sofas, and a large dining table carved from a single piece of wood.

One of the most distinctive features of the lodge is the impressive wooden kitchen counter. The spacious kitchen is fully equipped and perfect for cooking together using local ingredients. Guests can relax around the fireplace in the living room or gather around the large dining table to enjoy a cozy and authentic mountain lodge experience.

② Nearby Attractions & Activities

The Myoko area offers beautiful nature and outdoor activities throughout all four seasons. In winter, several ski resorts including Akakura Onsen Ski Resort and Akakura Kanko Resort are located within a short drive, offering the famous deep powder snow that Myoko is known for. Multiple ski areas can be reached within 20–30 minutes, making it easy to explore different slopes during your stay. After skiing, relaxing in a hot spring is a perfect way to end the day.

From spring to autumn, the area is ideal for hiking, golf, and nature exploration. Several golf courses are located nearby, and scenic spots such as Naena Falls, Imori Pond, and Lake Nojiri are popular destinations for day trips.

The lodge is surrounded by peaceful forest, creating a relaxing mountain atmosphere. The Akakura Onsen village is about a 20-minute walk or a 3-minute drive away. During winter the village becomes lively with international skiers, restaurants, and bars.

If you explore the surrounding area by car, you can also discover many local restaurants and hidden gourmet spots loved by residents. At night, guests can enjoy quiet walks under the stars and experience the tranquil charm of a mountain lodge stay.

④ Unique Experiences at the Lodge

This private lodge can accommodate up to 15 guests, making it perfect for group trips or family gatherings. Depending on the season, guests can also enjoy BBQ at the property.

If schedules align, guests may also experience a special private dinner prepared by a chef from a creative restaurant in Akakura Onsen village. The chef uses locally grown organic vegetables and wild game to create a seasonal course meal served at the lodge (available mainly from spring to autumn).

Workshops by a Japanese embroidery artist may also be arranged, offering a unique cultural experience with local creators. The lodge provides a relaxing retreat where guests can enjoy nature, culture, and the charm of the Myoko mountains.
