Tranquil house in vibrant Brunswick, close to City.
Victorian two-bedroom terrace house in great Brunswick location, nestled between Lygon Street and Sydney Road with all the restaurants, bars, shopping and transport options (to city and beyond) on your doorstop and within easy walking distance. Open plan kitchen lounge with paved back garden and outdoor seating. Wi-Fi included. Modern bathroom with large walk-in shower and washing machine.
The house is a typical small Victorian terrace with a lovely ambience, flooded with natural light feel and we have friendly and considerate neighbours on both sides. Its peaceful for such a great location and you will be surprised at how much privacy you can still enjoy, in or out, so close to the city. You are welcome to use the Weber gas barbecue (gas provided but we do ask that you request the bbq at time of booking) while appreciating the lovely, not overlooked back garden.
With a full kitchen including a five-hob gas cooktop (with an effective rangehood to take the cooking smells outside), a full fridge and freezer, dishwasher, air fryer, oven and microwave. There is a large dining table with four chairs, ample room to cook and dine. With two sofas for comfort and a smart TV connected to the Wi-Fi in the lounge space, the French doors open to a covered decked porch, leading out to the paved back garden complete with a large lemon tree. The house is north facing but gets a good amount of direct sun in the back garden or you can take shelter under the porch roof on the warmer days.
Whilst the house does not have air conditioning (cooling) it generally stays cool being brick built but we have provided plug in fans for all main rooms. Gas heating is provided via ducted floor vents to all rooms.
The front bedroom is made up of two single beds which are fixed to the wall hence they are either side of the cantered fireplace and it does mean they are against both walls, with one being located against the window at the front of the property. We thought this was worth a mention to understand the layout of the room and the fixed location of the beds. The fireplace is not functional (decorative only), and there are shelves and a wardrobe. This room is well suited for up to two children.
The middle bedroom is made up of a queen size double bed, chest of draws and built in wardrobe, with natural light from the indoor courtyard.
The bathroom is a good size with toilet, walk-in shower and ample storage space. A washing machine is located with the bathroom built in cupboards. There is no electric clothes dryer but clothes airers and washing line are provided.
The house was our first home here in Melbourne and it was later our family home as it proved to be a great location for having young children with nearby parks, bike trails, swimming pool (Brunswick Baths is within a short walking distance), library and quick transport links to Melbourne Zoo, Melbourne Museum, CBD and city beaches.
Depending on your reason for staying or the type of holiday you’re after here’s a list of some places nearby that may be of interest:
- Brunswick Baths - Children’s pool with slide, outdoor water play for kids (not always open so check their website) and a main outdoor pool
- Flemming Park – just across Lygon St (heading East) has a children’s playground and field, with some cafes enroute.
- Kirkdale Reserve, playground with bird viewing platform and digger toys usually left to play with in the sand/water play – just situated along the Merri Creek Trail
- Parkrun (just in case you fancy it!) begins and ends at Kirkdale Reserve is every Saturday morning at 8am (check Parkrun website for details)
- FOMO cinema – located at East Brunswick Village (EBV)
- Ceres – nature play space, café, groceries and a fortnightly Market on a Saturday.
- Collingwood Children’s Farm
- Melbourne Museum
- Melbourne Zoo – children are free on weekends & holidays (check website for more details)
- Princes Park & Visy Park (AFL team Carlton’s home ground)
- What The Putt – indoor golf on Sydney Road
- Barkly Square Shopping Centre – Stores including Kmart, Coles, Woolworths, BWS, EB Games, Chemists, Pharmacy, Groceries, Butchers and plenty of other shops too.
- Walking and bike trails – including the Merri Creek and Capital City Trail
The house would be well suited to families with the two single beds. If you have baby/small child, please let us know and we will try and provide a few baby/child items and some toys - please message separately with requirements.
