Located in the historic coastal township of Wonthaggi, Thagg Haus is a charming two-bedroom cottage that captures the timeless beauty of its century-old heritage. Thoughtfully designed to blend vintage character with modern touches, it creates a nostalgic yet welcoming atmosphere. As you pull into the driveway, you will be greeted by tranquil gardens and a serene front porch–perfect for escaping the busyness of everyday life. Inside, high ceilings amplify the space, offering both grandeur and a sense of stepping back into a simpler time. In the living room, you will find our collection of books, puzzles, and games. We have deliberately omitted a television to encourage relaxation and connection, making it a true retreat for recharging and reconnecting. The heart of Thagg Haus is its kitchen and dining area, where a well-stocked pantry invites you to create memorable meals by the Nectre wood heater. Outside, a spacious backyard invites you to unwind further. The fire pit and wood-fired pizza oven are guest favourites, perfect for magical summer evenings under the Milky Way, or surrounded by the gentle glow of twinkling fairy lights in our rustic workshop. The expansive backyard offers a haven for children to play, and pets to roam freely. Thagg Haus is an ideal stay for families, groups, or individuals. Both bedrooms are furnished with queen-sized beds dressed in luxurious European Flax linen, promising restful nights after days filled with exploring. For guests arriving from Melbourne, the Vline bus service departs from Southern Cross Station and arrives in Wonthaggi after a scenic 2.5-hour journey. Thagg Haus is one hundred years old, and although she has been respectfully renovated, she still holds that old-world charm.
