This was a great beach house for a family vacation. We enjoyed how spacious the house was along with the property and direct beach access. The beach is quite rocky though so I would highly recommend bringing water shoes.

Family vacation

Our family stayed for a week at the Bear House. It was clean, with a well stocked kitchen. Our grandchildren loved playing on the beach, seeing the sights in the area, riding and hiking on the trails in the State Park. It was a fabulous week that went by too fast!

Stayed for a long weekend in September with our kids (all under 12) and grandparents. The house was beautiful and huge - it had everything we needed. The views of Lake Huron were unbelievable and you could hear the waves when the windows were open. The gently slope to the large beach was easy for my in laws to navigate. The weather was cool and sunny which made for perfect beach walks, relaxing in chairs, playing in the sand, rock hunting and a couple very quick dips in the lake. We would recommend this place 100%.

The Perfect up North Getaway

We had an amazing stay at The Bear House! The charming Up North theme, spotless accommodations, and beautiful lake views made for the perfect Northern Michigan getaway. It was peaceful, comfortable, and had everything we needed. We loved every minute and can’t wait to come back! We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and are already looking forward to returning. Highly recommend!

What a Beautiful Log Home

Our group of six, plus a few visitors, had an amazing time at this picturesque place. We enjoyed rays on the beach, kite flying, a fishing charter, and great meals on the deck. Our kids loved the huge bear on the porch and walks into town for ice cream. We were very comfortable as there was plenty of room, it has a well equipped kitchen, and it was nice and clean. We will be back.

The house itself is large and beautiful, and the location excellent. That being said, it needs some updates and a thorough cleaning. Upon our arrival, there was sand all over the floors, the rugs had not been vacuumed and the bathroom sinks had not been cleaned. Both outdoor garbage cans were overflowing, The host did come and partially empty one can, so we would at least have a place to put our garbage. If some updates like newer pots and pans, coffee maker and a gas grill were added, plus a deep cleaning, this would be a super rental.

We're glad you enjoyed the house itself and the location. We're sorry the cleanliness didn't meet expectations upon arrival, and since then our cleaning crew has been replaced to ensure a thorough job before every stay. We've also added a third large trash bin so guests always have enough space for garbage. On the kitchen side, we've purchased a new coffeepot, and a Keurig machine has also been available as an additional option. We chose to provide a charcoal grill rather than a gas grill because replacing propane between stays can be difficult to manage, and there is also the possibility of a propane tank being unintentionally left open and emptied. We felt a charcoal grill would be the more reliable option for our guests.
