Set on three private acres, Goonengerry House invites you to slow down and connect deeply with the land. Wander through the vegetable garden, pick fresh fruits and herbs, or rest beneath a magnificent tree in a serene circle designed for reflection and stillness. It’s the perfect place to pause, breathe deeply, and soak in the tranquillity of the Byron Hinterland.

SLEEPING & RELAXATION

This peaceful retreat sleeps up to five guests:



Bedroom 1: Queen bed

Bedroom 2: Two single beds

Closed verandah: King single bed

Bathroom: Freestanding bathtub and quality fittings



Light-filled interiors create a calm, welcoming feel. Spend slow afternoons in the sunroom with a book or a board game, and share meals or conversations in the cosy dining room and library. The fully equipped eat in kitchen is the heart of Goonengerry House, perfect for slow breakfasts, long lunches and wholesome dinners. It’s a natural gathering spot for sharing stories, while the arts and crafts cupboard offers creative inspiration during your stay.



OUTDOOR FIRE & GATHERING SPACE

At the centre of the land is a semi-circle fire pit, a special place for cooking over open flames or simply enjoying the glow beneath a star-filled sky. Wood and kindling are provided, and BBQ tools are stored beneath the pantry for convenience.



FRIENDLY WILDLIFE

Goonengerry House is home to a thriving ecosystem of friendly farm and native wildlife. Spot wallabies at dawn, hear kookaburras and native birds, and watch butterflies flutter through the gardens. Guests are encouraged to tread lightly and share this sanctuary respectfully — it’s one of the most magical parts of the experience.



COOLING & HEATING

Ceiling fans keep the cottage cool in summer, while heaters in each bedroom offer cosy warmth in winter. The house stays naturally cool when closed on hot days, and opening the bifold doors creates a gentle cross-breeze. When it rains, the soft sound on the tin roof sets a calming, cocoon-like atmosphere — perfect for curling up indoors.

The entire cottage and surrounding land are yours to enjoy, offering you and your family complete privacy throughout your stay. While there is another small cottage on the property, each dwelling is thoughtfully positioned and designed to ensure absolute seclusion and tranquillity.

The Byron Hinterland is best explored by car. Having your own vehicle allows you to easily discover nearby villages, beaches, scenic lookouts, waterfalls and nature trails. There’s plenty of parking on the property, and the quiet country roads make every drive a joy.

Please be mindful that Goonengerry House is surrounded by native wildlife and farm animals. We ask that guests respect and protect the natural environment, avoid disturbing animals or plants, and leave the land as they found it.
