Gut: Sauberkeit, Check-in und Lage
Property was clean, spacious, and well appointed. However, this is a "basement" suite. There is no thermostat/HVAC controls in the unit. All HVAC control is "upstairs" that we didn't have access to. Our visit was in mid-December. Alberta winter temperatures are in the single digits (1-5 degrees F). When we arrived late in the evening the suite was freezing! The heat had been turned off because the "upstairs" unit was vacant (evidently no one communicates that the lower unit would be occupied). Because of the late arrival hour no one responded to our calls/messages for help with the heat. So, we spent an uncomfortable/miserable night in an unheated unit. The only alternative source of heat was a gas fireplace, which provided some heat to the main living area but not to the bedrooms. The next day the heating was restored and all was well. However, when returned to the unit on the evening of the third day after being out on family business, the heat had been inexplicably been turned off again and the unit was cold again! Evidently the cleaning crew turned off the heat again upstairs oblivious to the occupants in the basement suite. Fortunately the heat was restored before the evening was over. Nevertheless, this was a frustrating and uncomfortable experience. It should also be noted that "access" to the unit is on a narrow path between houses to reach the backyard basement porch.
