Welcome to Stonehaven Chalet, our two-bedroom cottage on White Lake, near Mountain Grove, Ontario.
Our cottage is a haven nestled beside one of the quietest lakes in eastern Ontario. With only a handful of cottages on the lake, a few year-round residents and no fishing or motor boats permitted, White Lake offers a pristine getaway. Enjoy the lake in the two kayaks or the canoe, provided with your rental. Swimming is from a natural shoreline, so best access is down a ladder from our gorgeous 6'x16' floating shoreline dock onto a lovely bedrock lake bottom.
Explore the lake in the two kayaks or the canoe that we provide, or hike the 100-acre property where our cottage resides. Adjacent to our 100 acres are 300 acres of crown land, along the shores of White Lake.
Available for an extra fee is access to our beautiful cedar cabin sauna on wheels, as well as a floating "lily pad" swimming foam raft. Please inquire for more information.
INSIDE SPACE
The four-season cottage features a well-equipped, full kitchen (gas stove/oven, microwave), a three-piece bathroom and two bedrooms: one on the main level (Queen bed) and an upstairs bedroom with two single beds. It's an ideal space for a small family.
Amenities include kitchen basics, linens, family games, a TV and DVD player with a large DVD collection, and a pellet stove for chilly evenings.
OUTDOOR SPACE
Enjoy the massive cottage deck with barbecue, patio table and umbrella. 100 metres down the trail is a brand new lakeside deck (8x12') for sitting by the water, and a brand new 6'x16' floating dock off the shoreline for launching kayaks and canoe. Swimming is WALK-IN ONLY off the end of the dock, as the lake is very shallow here.
Swimming off the end of the dock via ladder goes to shallow water over a bedrock lake bottom, which is a pleasant and weed-free entry into the lake.
The cottage sits adjacent to our hobby farm, so you may hear the occasional sounds from the small herd of sheep and milk goats that live here. If you'd like to pop into the barn to visit animals, you're welcome to set up a time to visit!
The farm features 100 acres of forest, wetland and shoreline, adjacent to another 300 acres of crown land that is untamed wilderness.
Please note that being in the forest in eastern Ontario in the summertime means that there will be biting insects such as mosquitoes, so come prepared with bug spray!
