Guest access
The whole cottage is yours with the exception of a few storage rooms.
Other things to note
Does your cottage have Heat or A/C?
No A/C but ceiling fans in the Great Room and lots of open windows during the summer keep the air circulating. The breeze coming off the lake will cool you down.
We have several personal fans as well.
Electric baseboard heating in each room - and a deep Woodstove for those extra chilly nights.
Some Firewood will be provided.
What about bugs?
It’s a cottage that’s next to a forest and a lake.
If you’re hoping to see bugs, you probably will.
Are there lots of stairs to get to your cottage?
Not at all. Easy access into the cottage from the driveway and just a few steps down to the rolling lawn towards the lake. Great trails behind the cottage as well for exploring.
How’s the waterfront?
It’s a bay, and thus it’s never going to be deep and clear.
Our brand new dock is amazing and we have installed a muck mat off the dock ladder for clear swimming.
But be aware - the bay is shallow and some parts are weedy.
What's the answer?
Bring your boat and tour the lake.
There are amazing swimming and fishing spots all over this amazing spring fed beauty.
Can I bring my pet?
Sorry - no pets allowed!
Do you offer any water sports?
We have a canoe available for your paddling enjoyment.
2 New kayaks are also available on request.
Life jackets and pool noodles are also available for you to use if you or your kids suck at swimming.
Can I bring my boat?
Totally. You can get in at the Sharbot Lake public entry and boat over. There are so many great places to explore on this lake so if you can get a boat, do it.
Is this a party cottage?
No, this isn’t a party cottage, though we totally get that your group will probably want to consume beverages that make us louder talkers and better dancers; please be considerate of the fact that there are neighbours (though they are a good safe distance away) - that said, no one is super keen on hearing you screaming at all hours of the day and listening to Kim Mitchell’s “Patio Lanterns” played on repeat at max volume.
What kinds of stuff does your kitchen come with?
The usual stuff – plates, cups, cutlery, etc. Wine glasses are there as well, just let us know if one happens to break (we were kind of expecting that to happen anyway). For your convenience our kitchen also has a fridge, electric stove, toaster, coffee maker…not sure what else you’d need here…
What about a BBQ?
I’m not sure I’ve ever been to a cottage without a BBQ, so that’s kind of an odd question; we provide the propane, so no worries there either. If the tank empties, you are on your own. We also have a Weber but you need to buy your own charcoal.
Can we have fires?
Only if there is no fire ban on. We have a fire pit and chairs down by the lake. Inside there is a woodstove. Some firewood is provided.
Does it get cold at night?
It’s Canada. If you plan to visit In the winter, just bring a few extra blankets if you are one of 'them’. The Woodstove works great and so do the electric baseboards.
What happens if I get bored?
You can work!
Or watch movies!
Or doom scroll.
We have excellent wifi with fibre internet for unlimited max speeds (50MB up and 50 MB down). Stream away.
There is a smart tv which includes netflix and IPTV.
We have some board games, some outdoor games, some books, and a Nintendo Wii in the spare bedroom.
What about bedding/towels/beach towels?
We will provide one set for each bed and several towels for each bed. If you feel you want to bring more, please do so.
What about toilet paper/paper towels/napkins?
Yep, we got you there. Please be aware that we are on a septic system with only one bathroom. Please throw nothing (AND WE MEAN NOTHING) into the toilet that’s not the toilet paper provided. We are firm believers in 'yellow = mellow; brown = flush down'. Everything else needs to go in the trash. Nothing will ruin your vacation more then a backed up septic tank.
Weekly rentals are preferred and run Saturday to Saturday with Check-in time at 4:00PM, Check-out time by 11:00AM.
