Ok, first, this house has among the top views on the cape. Absolutely the best in Wellfleet. Also. The house was clean and dealing with Property Management was seamless. BUT! The house has no dishwasher, no closets. The house is all windows and the afternoon sun beats into the kitchen/living area. All windows have electronic shades but only about 30% work on the sunny afternoon west side. The Bed in the bottom level creaks amazingly loudly with every small move. The house needs maintenance. The hot tub was unusable.If you are really into views, this is your house. But be prepared for other downsides. It is a shame because, with a reasonable investment in maintenance/upgrades, this house would be amazing. Absent that, I won’t rent again.

The property is beautiful-water views from everywhere and that is what you are paying for but like others who have stayed here I will say that the house needs some work! There are a lot of stairs down to the beach and there are several hours of the day you cannot sit out there due to high tide (you can make the most of it by sitting on a deck they have built about 1/4 way up from the beach). The upstairs of the house does get very hot in the afternoon due to all the windows -they have added some curtains to help but it just doesn't ever feel cool up there on a hot day. The 2 queen bedrooms are located on the floor where you enter the house- and only one of them has an a/c unit in it-my child was ok with a fan but it definitely wasn't "cool" in there. The second floor is kitchen/dining/living with 2 decks (and all your amazing views!) The basement is a bed bath combo but no door. Also I was surprised that there were no closets- not one! And basically one dresser in the first bedroom which had to be shared. My advice is to make the most of your time and not concentrate on the negatives. We had a very peaceful, relaxing week... this is the most quiet rental we have ever been to! Look out for hot tub attendant on Fridays (I was in my pjs when he showed up unannounced) He is very nice and friendly and it's great the hot tub is maintained weekly. DelMar was great as far as property management goes! They respond very quickly and were eager to make sure we were set for our week.

The property has an extraordinary location and a breathtaking view. That said, the interior of the house itself is a bit tired and could use some refreshing. And, there were other issues:Right away, we discovered that the water (well water) is undrinkable due to its very salty taste. We did not know this prior to our arrival, and there was only enough bottled water to make coffee on our first morning. We were told that the hot tub needed maintenance prior to our visit, and offered a small refund based on that. Then, we were told it was working. When we arrived we were told it needed to be filled. The person who came to fill it (who was in and out of our house for over 2 hours), said that the hot tub had issues that she could not fix. We asked for a small refund based on the fact that we would not have a hot tub for our visit. To date we have only heard from Del Mar that they will "let the escalation team know" about our request. The house has a serious ant problem and large black ants were evident on every floor. The screen doors to the upper decks are in disrepair and, with warm weather, are needed due to the solar gain from the floor to ceiling glass windows and doors. Despite all of this, we still enjoyed our stay because the weather was beautiful and the view was amazing. The house has enormous potential to be a dream come true vacation home!
