The cozy cabin was clean and fully stocked with everything we needed and very pet friendly. The cabin is secluded and peaceful, in a great location with a beautiful drive into Estes Park. The RMNP entrance is fairly close as well. The host was very responsive to my questions. We had a very enjoyable week stay. The location was wonderful. The cabin was wonderful. The only problem we had with this property was it was very dirty. The floors, carpets, baseboard heaters in the bathrooms had not been cleaned. There was animal hair on the sheets of all three beds.

Great mountain getaway

We loved the woodsy feel of this cabin. The outdoor space was perfect for coffee in the morning while listening to the Quaking Aspens to stargazing and counting shooting stars at night!

We liked that this house was located in a peaceful forest location only about 20 minutes from Estes Park and RMNP. We liked the open layout and little reading nook upstairs outside the MBR.

It was a really nice cabin in a secluded location. For some reason, we could never get it to cool down even though the heaters were all turned off and it was 30-50 degrees outside. Also, I understand that potable water is probably hard to acquire at a place like this and the pressure and temperature were fine, but there is a strong iron odor.

We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the cabin and its secluded location, but we’re sorry to learn that some aspects of your stay didn’t go as expected. We followed up with the homeowner after reading your feedback, and they wanted to share the following:- They had the climate control system inspected and found no mechanical issues. No similar problems have been reported before or since, so while they can’t explain why the heat continued running, they believe it was an isolated incident unlikely to happen again.- The home is equipped with a five-stage reverse osmosis water filtration system at the kitchen sink, which removes iron taste and odor. It’s possible the separate tap to the right of the main faucet was missed. To avoid confusion going forward, the homeowner has asked their manager to point it out to future guests.- The homeowner encourages all guests to reach out to guest management as soon as any issues arise during a stay. They truly want guests to have a pleasant experience and appreciate the opportunity to make things right in real time.Thanks for your valuable feedback as we continue to improve for future guests!

Below expectations

I really hesitate to take off one star let alone two, however after looking into what constitutes 3 vs 4 vs 5 star reviews on rental platforms, I feel 3 stars is most appropriate. One star deduction is because multiple things in the listing did not match the property for us. The three that came up for us: 1. Tub. While there was a tub, the mechanism on the tub to hold water was broken, and there was no stopper available. This may seem small, but a tub is critical with multiple toddlers, and when you advertise a tub, there is a reasonable assumption that it will hold water. 2. Shampoo. The listing advertises provision of shampoo and other toiletries. Again not a huge deal, but an inconsistency that I could have planned for had I known it wasn’t actually provided. 3. Laundry detergent. See above. I don’t need a place to provide this, but if the listing says it does, I expect it to be there. The second star deduction is for poor communication. Prior to our stay, the communication with the guest contact via text was adequate— I asked if there would be a pack n play, the contact didn’t know but said they’d find out, I didn’t hear back and asked again the next day, at which point they said yes there would be one. I later asked about the possibility of an early check in which they were unsure about, and that was fine. After check in, I reached out to them about two different questions on two different days and never heard back from them during our 3 night stay. The first time I asked if there was a tub stopper somewhere; the person had their read receipts on and I saw they read it the same minute I sent it, no response. The next evening (>24 hours later) I asked about laundry detergent after searching the house twice (our toddler got sick on himself) and I didn’t expect a response late at night but I didn’t get one ever.I liked the secluded location and the size of the house. It’s extremely dated but I don’t have a problem with that as long as things work. The beds weren’t great but were fine. The trash can is dirty and broken, I would replace for $30 if I were them. There should be a sign saying washer stains clothes, we had multiple white items come out orange due to minerals in the water. Overall I have the impression that the owners are not the managers, and if that’s the case, if I were the owner I would really consider a new guest contact as they are not doing their job. Additionally, I would recommend updating the listing to match reality.

We enjoyed our two-week stay here. The house is comfortable and was a great size for our family of four. The location is fantastic--very close to Wild Basin and Long's Peak trailheads, and a good central spot for traveling down into Estes or over to the Brainard Lake Wilderness area. The kitchen had all the basics we needed for nightly cooking and grilling. There's currently no working TV, but there's no shortage of books to read, including a lot of books giving the history of the area!
