Thank you for your compliments regarding our villa, its spectacular location, and the excellent service provided by our hosts and chef. We appreciate all constructive feedback, but we must clarify several claims in this review, as they are inconsistent with our verified standards and the overwhelmingly positive 5 star ratings we have received across all booking platforms before your stay. Property Condition & Cleanliness The villa underwent major upgrades in April 2026, including a complete rebuild of the kitchen, butler’s pantry, and laundry, all with brand‑new cabinetry, oven, cooktop, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, and dryer. These installations occurred only weeks before your arrival, making allegations of filthy appliances factually incorrect. We have also replaced three air conditioners this year and ceiling fans in every room. Given the level of recent investment and the standard of the new facilities, the description of the experience as “glamping” does not reflect the actual condition or quality of the home. Bed linens were replaced with new stock in the month prior to your stay, and receipts are available. Maintenance Visits & Privacy As a holiday rental in Fiji, certain maintenance is legally required: * Pool servicing must occur regularly for guest health and safety. * Pest control is mandated and performed routinely. These are standard, non‑intrusive procedures for all commercial villas in the region. Regarding the “random plumber”: this individual was not a random visitor, but our maintenance manager and engineer. He attended on day three, not at check‑in as you indicate, after we were alerted that your group of 10 had already used 20 rolls of toilet paper. We have WhatsApp messages documenting this. During inspection, he discovered a washcloth and multiple wipes lodged in the septic system. This required immediate attention to prevent a full system failure. We have clear signage in every bathroom advising guests not to flush wipes or foreign objects. His brief presence was necessary to protect the property and ensure your stay was not disrupted. At no point did he accuse anyone of causing the issue. His intention was simply to educate on how to protect the septic system and avoid disruption to their stay. Doors, Weather Stripping & Beachfront Conditions As an absolute beachfront property, some rubber seals naturally perish faster due to salt exposure. A few small areas currently show 2–3 millimetre gaps, not inches, and these are already scheduled for replacement as part of our ongoing upgrade program. Supplies Provided Your group received 40 rolls of toilet paper for a 7‑night stay, far exceeding standard hospitality provisions. Our Commitment to Guests Since taking over Kula Kai one year ago, we have invested heavily in upgrades and maintenance, and we continue to do so. We also accommodated your request for early check‑in which was made just one day before your arrival, calling in staff after hours on a Sunday to prepare the villa ahead of schedule. Perhaps, due to the rushed circumstances the villa was not cleaned to our usual standards for which we apologise. We have a daily room service and clean which, I understand, you rejected. Perhaps this would have addressed some of your issues regarding cleanliness of the room, had you accepted our usual service. Given the significant discrepancies between your claims and the documented condition of the property, as well as the misleading comment on “the septic incident”, we believe this review is vexatious and does not reflect the true guest experience at our villa.
