Lovely home right on the water! Clean, comfortable, well-maintained, and well equipped. Plus a very responsive and helpful owner.Perfect location to explore the Sydney Mines area (Louisbourg Fortress, Fossil and Mining Museum, Alexander Graham Bell Museum), hike local trails, and head out on the Cabot Trail.I couldn't have had a better stay.

We were in Sydney Mines to visit a friend and Cranberry Cottage was just perfect! Incredible location - a front row seat to the start of lobster season. Well renovated and extremely well equipped. Would return in a heartbeat.

Cranberry Cottage was lovely. It was clean and well stocked with all we needed. We enjoyed walks on the long beach right in front of the property.

Thanks to Linda and her friends. Lovely guest who connected respectfully and took great care of our home. We had an unexpected issue with the dishwasher and Linda let us know the exact issue in a timely manner so that we could get addressed as quickly as possible. We had a wonderful time at cranberry cottage. Our stay was in January but we were still able to take advantage of the local beaches. There are lots of hiking trails nearby that we were able to go snow shoeing on. The fireplace at the cottage was a nice surprise as we had some very cold nights. The host was responsive and I would definitely love to visit when the weather is a bit better but if you’re looking for a winter getaway this is definitely a place to consider.

Cottage was clean and very well fitted out including kitchen supplies. Very comfortable. The location cannot be beat - right on the beach. We wished we had booked for longer so we could have enjoyed the cottage more. Very happy with our stay.

Throughly enjoyed staying at the Cranberry Cottage. It has everything you need to make your stay enjoyable. The location is perfect and the scenery is beautiful. If you bring your fur baby with you there’s lots of room for them to roam. Would definitely recommend and would stay there again if we ever went back to that area. Beautiful Quiet Oceanside Oasis

Right on the Atlantic beachside. Beautiful sweeping views. Quiet location with easy access to all the convenient services and historic attractions and wonderment that is Cape Breton Island. Gorgeous well design interiors with everything you need for an amazing stay. Definitely a gem.

This place is very tranquil yet close to the Sydney area for convenience. We loved the views, listening to the waves crash, and enjoying the beautiful sunsets. It was fun to watch the lobster boats come and go. There is a seafood market nearby where we bought fresh lobsters a few times. We had classic Cape Breton weather. Wind, rain, sun, thunderstorms (thankful for the generac that kicked on during the two power outages). This home is suitable for two people or perhaps two couples. Our only small issue was that there was huge mounds of seaweed (2-3 foot piles all along the beach) that was rotting and emitting a very strong sulphuric smell. This smell would come and go but it was VERY overwhelming. Also because the beach is dog friendly there were a few dogs that came on the property from the beach. We also had some people come across from the parking lot area right beside the home and wander across the front lawn to sit on the bench that overlooks the water. Not a huge deal but I was nervous when two big black dogs came running up to me and my small dog out of nowhere. Just something to keep in mind in regards to the location.

Our stay was AMAZING! The house was much bigger than we thought and the views on the ocean were just incredible. The house is really well equipped, everything you need is there. The little gym equipment in the garage was a nice surprise. Beds were super confortable, we slept really well. If I had known how much we would enjoy this location, I would have reserved more nights. The owners were really quick to respond and provide info when needed. It was so fun and relaxing to walk on the beach after dinner and sit on the porch in the morning. Sunsets are incredible, it was the perfect location for us. We will come back for sure!

This place was listed as 2 half bathroom s. In reality it was one half bathroom and a bathing only room. Very misleading. There was no Welcome Book to tell us anything. We look forward to that. Knives were quite dull. Very few plates. But there was one awesome fry pan that fried our eggs beautifully. Note on the wall said to put garbage in the garage. There was a lot of garbage in there from before us. However the host was very responsive and helpful when contacted. Nice quiet clean location.

We have been together for over 35 yrs, have two sons now 27 and 23, adopted at 9 months each four yrs apart. We recently retired and when considering possibilities thought we would buy a place near our family. Then we decided we are not ready to leave the boys so let’s rent it out so others can enjoy the stunning scenery, amazing people and limitless activities our beautiful home province offers.of you’re headed to Newfoundland the ferry is just 10 min from our home

Sydney Mines in its day was a huge Coal mining town. Many of the company house still stand. While the mines have been shut down for years the spirit remains. The locals are kind, simple, giving people who love to share local stories, meet visitors and tell you the history.
