This was a wonderful, private, perfect place to stay in Greenport. Beautifully and thoughtfully decorated, comfortable and exceptionally clean. The backyard was an incredible, private place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. The apartment is perfectly located within walking distance of all of the attractions in Greenport. The street the apartment sits on is quiet and beautiful. We wish we could have stayed longer and would stay here again without hesitation.
This carriage house is great. It has its own parking space with a furnished outdoor yard for entertaining. Inside you walk into the spacious kitchen with all the appliances and utensils you need. Upstairs is the living area, bathroom, and bedroom. The amount of light is great during the day. We stayed during a record cold weekend in February but took sanctuary in the cozy upstairs watching TV and reading. The frame of the house is beautiful and the owner appointed the inside really well - it still has character but is updated to be very comfortable.
We were greeted by the owner on a chilly Friday night, she is absolutely lovely and had great suggestions for us. She is close by in the house adjacent to the yard. As mentioned she put really nice touches to the house - the bathroom is really nice and we loved the kitchen.
The heart of town is very close - only a short stroll away so super convenient. Great sake bar/minimalist Japanese restaurant across the street on the main drag, and a supermarket only about 4 or 5 blocks away where we picked up snacks. The main strip curves into town where many of the restaurants were still open in winter - Greenport and the surrounding areas are definitely a must-visit in summer for us. Food was very good at each place, especially the tequila bar/restaurant, had amazing paella.
There are plenty of vineyards that are open year round that are only 15-20 minutes drive from here - just a ton of things to do. It's about as quaint as you can get for the North Fork and this house embodies that perfectly.
We had an amazing time in Greenport and love the Siren's Song Carriage House. It's perfectly located on a quiet side street but within walking distance to everything in Greenport. The carriage house is well maintained, comfortable, romantic and spacious. The fenced in back yard is perfect and really nice since we were traveling with our dog. The owner was flexible and was very friendly, even after arriving late at night over an hour late (yikes!). Thank you for making our vacation even better!
It kills me to write this, because I don't want to give away our amazing secret place that we have loved going to, and hope to go back in the future. So let's keep this between us, ok? Ok, good.
My beau and I rented this place for 6 weeks last year, and for 8 weeks this year. I work at a national monthly travel magazine (let's call it Javel + Jisure), and I have been in luxury resorts and hotels all over the world, and, in general, I just can't wait to get back to our wonderful carriage house in G'port.
The house itself is so wonderfully decorated - clean, modern lines, gorgeous huge bathroom, amazing kitchen, awesome yard for grillin' and chillin.... we are even thinking of consulting the owner on how she renovated and decorated because her taste is awesome.
The house details: everything is user-friendly, and the heat and A/C work in seconds to heat or cool the place as you need it. There are wonderful amenities - from the nice olive oil to the fluffy white towels and bathrobes to the grilling implements. You can just show up and take it from there. Beautiful skylights that make sunny days awesome, and rainy days kinda mellow and fun, with the pitter-patter of the rain on the skylights. It is listed as a one bedroom but there's a day bed that I have always loved napping on which would be great for a single guest or a child.
The location is bananas. You don't need a car and it's an easy 7-minute walk from the Jitney or the train that stops right in town (and there's a parking spot right out front). You're right in Greenport, and of course near vineyards, beaches, lighthouses, farm stands, light houses, Shelter Island! So much to explore, and there are a bunch of good maps in her library section of the house of different hikes and bike rides.
The owner, Caroline, couldn't be nicer; she is available if you need her for any little thing. She is also a presence in the village of Greenport and can give you great ideas of all the side trips you can do from this home base.
I can't say enough that this is the house you want in Greenport, if you're looking for a cool place to stay on the East End. The hotels in town are not so great (think bachelorette groups) - this is the way to go!
I stayed here with my dog for a few nights. I hope to return. The carriage house is tastefully remodeled with the best of everything: stainless kitchen, wooden floors, exposed beams and alot of other designer details. It is clean and the little yard is completely fenced in. This provided me with privacy while reading outside and my dog was safely contained while she sat outside with me. Quick walk (less than 5 min) to all shops and restaurants, grocery, post office and marina. The town is very cute and quaint. I found the town to be a marina/boating/yachting town. I did not see a beach within walking distance but was able to drive to one in 5 minutes - it was not public but I got there at 10am and got in. The owner is a lovely artist who gave me my privacy. Her house is right next door so if you need anything she is close. I would like to return. It was a great experience. It was easily accessible from the Orient Ferry. Parking for 1 car off street.
The location is great just far enough from downtown to be quiet and yet shopping and eating are an easy walk away. The carriage house, separate from the main house is an architect's dream come to life. Many interesting touches - skylight, exposed piping, up-to-date kitchen and bath. Great colors. The history buffs will like seeing the hardware and large doors and loft of the original carriage house. We were an adult group and we look forward to traveling there again as a couple. Sound travels easily from room to room since the extremely high ceilings are open at the top. This also means that a light on in one room travels to the next even when the door is shut. But for a couple or one with a child, this might be ideal. We loved it but just fyi there's no total privacy.
