I booked a 5 night stay using VRBO at this resort. Per the listing on VRBO, I booked a “hotel type unit in a larger log lodge with a jetted tub, fireplace, shower, microwave, fridge, coffee maker, and tv . . . Boat rentals, arcade, mini store, restaurant, marina, docks . . . outdoor hot tub all within walking distance.”
Sounds great, right? Well, the unit itself was ok – a one room king size bed which was fairly comfortable, with very old linens, but clean. There was a jetted hot tub in the room which we did not use. It was on the ground level – with minimal view of the lake through the trees. The room had a small coffee maker, but no coffee cups; no plastic cups to even brush your teeth; no bath mat; shower curtain had mildew at the bottom and was poorly fitted; towels were very thin and small and old (however, was able to get extra towels and pillows without difficulty). The TV was vintage 1985 with a combined VHS/DVD player – and the only station we could get on the TV was fox news! The outdoor hot tub was at least 20 years old, with greenish water – we did not consider using the hot tub as I was guessing it also had not been kept up to date with proper cleaning, etc. as evidenced by the rest of the resort conditions
The mini store was stocked with supplies - some out of date – very expensive and questionable offerings. I noticed there was a pile of coffee filters and coffee in canisters sitting on the floor in the store – after I had gone out and purchased coffee filters and coffee – seems like coffee and filters and coffee cups should at least have been supplied in the unit – especially as a rental as a VRBO. Same with plastic cups for brushing your teeth - for heavens sake, people! The arcade consisted of a couple of very old, dated video games which were unplugged. The restaurant was not open – don’t know if it did open during our stay as we left 2 days early.
The marina is in extreme disrepair. There is no beach and the boats appeared questionable, although we did not utilize.
Granted, prices in west Yellowstone are a bit crazy for relatively shabby accommodations, and I admit I booked this place as it was “cheaper” and seemed to be decent. For the price (which you could have gotten cheaper by booking direct through the resort website, BTW), it did not deliver. I paid well over $220.00 per night with taxes, fees, etc. I was extremely disappointed.
With a little work, this place has potential to be a great little resort.
