Das grün-gelbe Chalet am Creekside Trail an der Powderhorn Road befindet sich nördlich des US Highway 2 zwischen Ironwood und Bessemer im Big Snow Country der westlichen oberen Halbinsel von Michigan. Hier wohnen Sie auf dem Weg zur Haupthütte des Big Powderhorn Mountain. Unsere kurvenreiche Auffahrt führt zu beiden Straßen, sodass ausreichend Parkplätze für mehrere Fahrzeuge vorhanden sind.

Wir sind nur wenige Minuten von Blackjack entfernt und befinden uns in der Nähe der Indianhead Mountains für Abwechslung beim Boarding und Skifahren.

Für Ihre Big Powderhorn Mountain Erlebnisse können Sie zu Fuß zum Lift Nr. 1 (ca. 300 m) gehen und Ski fahren oder über die Piste fahren, oder Sie können den Shuttle während der Schneesaison zur Gun Barrel Lodge oder zu einer der anderen Bars / Restaurants in der Region nehmen Berggebiet.

Sie haben Zugang zum SNOWMOBILE & ATV TRAIL # 2 (lassen Sie Ihre Anhänger in unserer Einfahrt).

Langläufer können über die Straße für einheimische Nordic-Skifahrer polen und befinden sich in unmittelbarer Nähe der 26 km langen nordischen Wolverine-Langlauf- und Mountainbike-Strecken.

Waldhein ist ein zweistöckiges Chalet mit Vorderdecks im Haupt- und Obergeschoss und einem Seitendeck mit Holzkohlegrill im Hauptgeschoss.

Es hat drei Schlafzimmer (1 Queen, 2 Full-Size-Betten) und einen Balkon Schlafzimmer (mit 2 Twin-Size-Betten), zwei Badezimmer (eines auf jeder Ebene) und eine voll ausgestattete Küche. Bettwäsche und die meisten Badutensilien sind vorhanden. In der gemütlichen Atmosphäre des Holzkamins können Sie kostenfreies WLAN nutzen.

Great ski cabin

We were up for a long ski weekend, cozy cabin with a great fireplace. Very close to both Jackson Creek, blackjack and powderhorn. Skied them all, as well as visited the ski flying jump.

Winter Wonderland

Perfect winter getaway in the UP

Thanks for an amazing place to stay. The house is so cozy, comfortable, and the perfect place for our winter weekend. We skied at big Powederhorn and Snow River, so the location was perfect. We also snow shoed the Wolverine Nordic trails, which were just down the road. Thanks for being an excellent host and being dog friendly! We can't wait to come back!!!

Great stay, but those with allergies be cautious

This is a well maintained, cozy spot. Perfect for our long weekend. The manager was very friendly and left out some nice treats. Only downside was as a person with allergies and it being a pet friendly place I did have some allergy symptoms flare up. It was manageable for me, but could be a problem for others with more serious pet allergies.

Perfect chalet

The house was just perfect. Very clean and welcoming as soon as we walked into the door. Plenty of firewood already in place for us to use. The house was warm and felt just like home. I couldn't ask for any better communication with the owners too. It was the perfect get away and if we decide to visit the area again we will try to rent this home once more. Everything was just perfect for our family get away.

Cozy Chalet - Great Location

We had a wonderful time at the Waldhein. Warm, cozy and had everything we needed for our stay. Great location and parking for our family of skiers & snowmobilers. Lots of hooks to hang our gear after a day on the slopes/trails. We had plenty of firewood and loved the fireplace. The beds were comfortable with plenty of clean bedding. We always had hot water with great water pressure and lots of towels. Great communication, exactly as pictured, many nice touches that made our stay very comfortable. So nice that we could bring our dog, he loved it!

Fun Weekend Getaway

We had a great time! It was nice to be so close to Big Powderhorn. We still ended up driving to the lodge to buy lift tickets/rent gear, but had no issues with parking. Convenient location. The driveway was a bit icy but we had no issues with our vehicles. Make sure you have the key code saved on your phone ahead of time because you will not have cell service when you arrive!

Great Location for Exploring with ORV

This was our first time visiting Michigan and riding on the ORV trails. The hosts were very informative and quick to respond with information about the Chalet as well as places nearby that would help us truly experience this area. We were able to check many of the suggestions off our list of things to do but there were a few that we simply ran out of time to explore during the week. The Chalet is in a great location for getting on the ORV trails without the need to trailer them and the pass-through driveway is very handy for parking the trailer. Plenty of towels were provided and the kitchen was stocked with necessities and a bowl filled with a variety of snacks that came in handy throughout the week. Bathrooms with showers on each level were a wonderful aspect that not many places to stay seem to have. Checking in and out was very simple and much appreciated.

Waldhein Chalet = Winter Fun Base Camp

Waldhein Chalet was a five star experience! We used this property as our skiing base camp over New Years. The owners provide a comfy, cozy, dog friendly chalet in the Big Powderhorn Mountain alpine village. We liked the sleeping capacity in an affordable package with plenty of spare towels and blankets to go around. The pantry, kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. The property is maintained and clean. To be sure…this is a ski chalet. Be prepared for rustic furnishings, quilted bedspreads, and ski bum decor. This was part of the charm for us, but some folks may not get the character if they don’t know what they are getting into. For us it was a memorable stay that we will consider in the future if we head back to Gogebic County, MI.

CHARMING COTTAGE, AMAZING HOSTS!

This was our 3rd visit to Waldhein & we can't say enough good things about this property & our wonderful hosts, Sean & Kerry. They always go above and beyond to make sure we are well taken care of & their communication is outstanding. They are quick to respond, whether it's about renting, or if an issue pops up during a visit. The location of Waldhein is perfect for us. It's a very quick drive up the Black River Road for many hiking opportunities to view waterfalls or to hang out on the Lake Superior beach & do a little rock hunting or stargazing. Ironwood & Bessemer are less than a 10 minute drive from this delightful getaway. There are more things to do within a 30 minute drive than you could ever get to in a two week vacation! If you ski, Powderhorn is a few minutes up the road; Blackjack and Indianhead ski resorts are less than 20 minutes away. Housekeeping is excellent, and everything you could need for an extended stay is provided. Kerry & Sean are wonderful, flexible hosts who are opening up their vacation home and really want you to have an outstanding experience! We can't wait to return!💖

Great Spot

The chalet was exactly as described. We found our accommodations perfect for us. We thought we could walk to Lift 1 at Powderhorn, but the road was pretty fast and we didn’t feel comfortable so we did end up driving each day for snowboarding. It was, however, very easy to drive and we still wenback to chalet each lunchtime to eat. We played a lot of games, enjoyed the fireplace, and watched a couple of movies as a family. The kitchen was well stocked and it was easy and nice to make our own meals there. We were in want and/or need of nothing. Thanks! We would absolutely stay here again!

We’re the new owners of this adorable cabin, using it primarily as our family getaway in the beautiful Northwoods. We’re excited to share our place with vacationers, family and friends!

Set back in the tree colors of the season, our two level chalet has front decks on the main and upper level and a side deck with charcoal grill.

Ride in/ride out access is usually available for 100 plus miles of ATV fun on WI/MI TRAIL # 2, and we're in close proximity to the 26 Km Wolverine Mountain Bike Trails.

We’re only minutes from Copper Peak and the Black River Harbor on Lake Superior. Be sure to stop and see the waterfalls along the way down Black River Road which is also one of the most scenic fall color byways anywhere.

For the active Spring thru Fall vacationer, there are two public golf courses and boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, climbing, and ATV trails.

You may also just sit on the deck and enjoy the scenery, sunshine, fresh mountain air. You may even hear the mountain stream that flows along the property into Powdermill Creek. Grill on the deck or enjoy one of the many Up North bars/restaurants if you want an evening out.
