Crystal Lake Vacation

We had a few issues initially but Pete responded quickly and fixed everything.the location was perfect close to the beach and sleeping bear dunes. The house was perfect for what we needed and the kayaks/paddle boards were a fun bonus.

Lovely lake house and views!

This beautiful house is right on Crystal Lake with fantastic views from most of the house and from the beautiful deck. We really appreciated the well-appointed, immaculately clean and comfortable home. We appreciated Peter's hospitality, checking with us to ensure we had everything we needed (which we did)! We would definitely recommend this for a lakeside get away!

Wonderful property

The property is a real marvel, located right in front of crystal lake with breath taking view. The house is clean, cozy and can easily accommodate a big family or couple of families. The host Pete - is very resourceful and kind, eager to help and accomodate. Check in and out was very easy. This property is highly recommended. I’ll certainly visit this place

Location is everything

Lake front and totally private; we fell asleep to the waves. The location is what makes this property incredible. We spent almost all of our time outside and enjoyed it thoroughly, including plenty of boats, chairs, and sand tots provided by the owner. There is a weirdly heavy infestation of fruit flies throughout the house that was unpleasant, some of the linens weren’t clean, and a few lights didn’t work. Peter was a responsive and gracious host!

Unbeatable Views

Had an awesome stay at this property. Being right on the "crystal" clear waters of Crystal Lake - how can you beat it! Was great having the canoes and SUPs. Only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars is there seemed to be a little fruit fly problem, but there were traps set up so it did get better and on our final day the downstairs bathroom plumbing was acting up - but since it was our last day and we had to be out by 10am, it didn't really affect us, but hopefully resolved for the next group.

Nice week stay in June

We have tried many cottage stays around Crystal Lake, and this was probably the nicest. Nice new updates like sliding doors and toilets, and looks like more updates in the works. The cottage is long along the lake so lots of views of the water, plus a nice deck, with shade when needed too. Nice dock with nice steps into the water. Pete, the owner was very responsive by text if needed. Situated about halfway between Frankfort and Buelah, on M22

Crystal Lake Family Vacation

My family of 8 had a wonderful week together at this property on Crystal Lake. Although we initially had some issues upon our arrival and first day, our host Peter responded quickly to resolve them and we were able to move on and enjoy our week on the lake and in the surrounding area. Much time was spent on the deck overlooking the lake relaxing. We enjoyed the stand up paddleboards and kayaks that were provided. We were able to prepare all our meals right there at the house utilizing the grill and full kitchen. We kept the windows and doors open to enjoy the fresh air flowing through and the beautiful sounds of the lake.

It’s a “Home Boat”!

Some people have lake homes and some people have house boats. This is a home boat wherein we were rocked to sleep at night by the sounds of the waves (without the rocking boat or sea sickness) but nestled snug inside a loving home. While I love a 5 star hotel and AC when we are Chicago, we all loved life with all the windows and doors open and the feeling of truly being in nature and sweeping the sand our boys dragged in right back out the door. Our boats, Peter and his family, deserve a 6 star rating for the hosts with the Mosts.

Magical Crystal Lake Vacay!

This home far exceeded our expectations. We’ve been coming to this area for the past 4 years and usually stay at Crystal Mountain, we had a larger group this year and decided to stay on the lake instead. Peters home was recently bought and renovated and so far we love what he did! The bedroom addition was a genius idea, the kids bunk room was perfect for our 5 kids. They loved having their own hang out. The kitchen had most of the the things we needed and there was plenty of seating throughout the living room. There were plenty of hooks throughout the house to hang items. We appreciated that! The outdoors was magical and truly what made our trip. We used the kayaks and paddle boards from sun up to sun down. Took advantage of the local marina to rent a boat. Swam off the dock. It was so quiet and tranquil. We never heard a peep neighbors. We will most certainly be back!

Fun on the water!

There were many things about this property that we thoroughly enjoyed. My 7 year old grandson had the time of his life on the lily pad not far from the dock. For the 1 1/2 year old, there was a sand area with a bench to sit on and sand toys to play with. The inside is as pictured on the web site. It fit our family of 8 perfectly. In the kitchen, outside of the refrigerator, they did not have any space for can goods. We just kept everything out on the countertop. The one problem we had was with the comfort of the beds. A couple of them were very uncomfortable. If I had known this I would have brought bed toppers to make my stay more enjoyable. The younger family members handled it just find. The queen bedroom with the lake view, was the most uncomfortable. However, the outside water area was perfect!

We are not an agency. We manage this property ourselves and have been on HomeAway and VRBO since 2004 on Lower Herring Lake, 10 minutes south of Frankfort. (370427 and 398063). My Mom's family has owned and operated the historic Watervale Inn since 1917. I'm a former naval officer.

We strive for five stars in providing a clean, well equipped vacation home. All linens provided, beds made. The house is close to everything, including Point Betsie Lighthouse, Sleeping Bear Dunes, golf, Frankfort, Lake Michigan Beaches, historic Garden Theater, Cherry Bowl drive in theater, Stormcloud brewery, Rocks Landing and Cherry Hut restaurants. There are fabulous hiking and mountain biking trails near by. Crystal Mountain golf and ski resort is 25 minutes away.
Crystal Lake is true to its name, gin clear, with a sandy bottom.
