Dan and Kathy were excellent hosts and definitely went the extra mile to make our stay enjoyable. The cabin was clean, had all the comforts of home, including a full size kitchen and was beautifully appointed. The location was in the beautiful hill country of Texas and was located close to many activities for all age groups. It was a perfect get away for two to enjoy the quiet country setting, but close enough to travel to other hill country towns or to San Antonio. We look forward to returning one day.

Kathi & Dan were awesome hosts and very friendly. We really enjoyed our 5-night stay (regretted not staying the week) and would not hesitate to go again in the future. Their location was ideal for nearby attractions and those in San Antonio. If there were a 10 star rating, this place and their owners deserve it. The attention to detail, and the respect and love of nature - as well, as the kindness and attentiveness of the owners are the best I’ve experienced in a Vrbo rental. We will definitely be coming back. If you’ve never visited the “Hill Country” of TX, this is a great base to explore, get advice/suggestions of restaurants/attractions…it would have been an awesome trip had we not left the cabin! Deer, birds, every morning and at sunset, there is something to see. I’ve lived and traveled all over the Americas, and this is now one of my favorite places. We will be coming back!

Lovely place!

Super cute cabin! Really enjoyed the secludedness of it, and spent most of our time sitting on the back porch listening to birds and watching the deer come up to eat corn. Made some steaks for dinner and realized i had forgotten my seasonings, but there were several options to choose from in the cabinets so the crisis was averted! Lovely property owners that gave all the information needed for our stay. Will definitely be staying here again when we are back in the area

Peaceful Retreat

Oasis in the Hill Country

With The Stoney Porch, Kathi & Dan have created an oasis in The Hill Country. We’ve loved this part of our great state our entire lives. The HC is full of rolling hills, clear streams, rich history, & unique flora and fauna. However, it has also seen tremendous & often unwelcomed growth that does not honor the land. On their property, Kathi and Dan have lovingly preserved the very best of this unique part of the world. The cabin is a sanctuary of privacy and comfort yet a short drive to many unique and special HC sites. Skillfully built with a beautiful eye for detail, it is immaculately clean and holds all the comforts of home. The back porch is a work of art, the views full of deer & a rich variety of birds. We travel with an appreciation and mind for Willie’s philosophy of “Seein’ things I may never see again” because in life, there is only so much time & money and SO many things to see. However, we are eagerly hoping to return to Kathi and Dan’s place. They are not only wonderful hosts, but stewards of this land we love so very much. You will absolutely be blessed by their kindness in sharing their lovely slice of the Texas Hill Country.

Kathi and I celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary in May of 2019.
We met in college (Trinity University, San Antonio, Tx) and began our life together traveling through much of the world; worked together in a number of different ventures; and have truly enjoyed opening and administering to The Stoney Porch guest house on our property in the Texas Hill Country.
KATHI & I OWN, OPERATE & PERSONALLY ADMINISTER ALL ASPECTS of the STONEY PORCH.

Kathi & I settled on this proper in 1995 because of the beauty and peacefulness that this area of the Texas Hill Country provides. It is home.
We built the Stoney Porch Guest Cabin because we wanted to share our appreciation for this beautiful area.

The Stoney Porch is unique because of the design and care that went into each phase.
We designed it and built it ourselves over a 2 year period and just opened in June of 2019. It's location on a 30' bluff that overlooks a valley and distant mountains make it as peaceful a location as one can find.
It is private and yet only minutes from rivers, lake, activities and entertainment of all kinds. Being 20 minutes from San Antonio offers a total contrast to the seclusion of the Stoney Porch Guest House.
