DO NOT RENT FROM ISLAND WINDS!
I’m sure the rental unit is fine. I didn’t stay there. When I cancelled my booking through VRBO, I emailed Island Winds, the rental management company, to confirm they had received my cancellation and to inquire about a refund. I never received a response. When I checked my credit card account to see if they had issued a refund, I found that not only had they NOT issued the refund, they actually MADE AN ADDITIONAL, UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE. Knowing that they do not respond to emails, I called Island Winds to determine what had happened and to give them an opportunity to make things right. During that call, they made it clear that they had no intention or refunding either the original deposit, or the second, unauthorized charge. Frustrated, I gave them an ultimatum: refund in 24 hours, or I dispute the charge with the credit card company. After 24 hours, I submitted the dispute. Luckily, the credit card company understands that Island Winds cannot just take your money and give you nothing in return. The credit card company found in my favor and provided a refund. SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE AND TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!
