Ski to Sea ist ein schönes Familienhaus auf einer Höhe von 4.500 Fuß auf Appalachian Ski Mountain in Blowing Rock. Die Hauptebene besteht aus einem komfortablen Wohnzimmer mit einem neuen 50-Zoll-Smart-TV mit Kabel (2017) und DVD, Steinkamin mit Gas Logs und neue Lederliege Schnittsofa und 2 neue Ledersessel mit Ottomanen (Juli 2016). Der Essbereich verfügt über große Fenster mit Blick auf die Berge. Es verfügt über einen großen Tisch mit Platz für 6 Personen, einen kleinen Tisch mit Platz für 2 bis 3 Personen und eine Bar mit 4 Stühlen. Die Küche ist komplett ausgestattet mit Spülmaschine, Mikrowelle, Kaffeemaschine, Toaster, 2 Topftöpfen, Toaster, Entsorgung, Küchenmaschine, Kühlschrank neben Eis mit Eisbereiter und Wasser- und Eisspender. neues Kochgeschirr, 2 Sätze Porzellan und Besteck. Die Master-Suite verfügt über ein neues Kingsize-Bett (2017), Kabel 40-Zoll-TV, Bad mit großer verglaster Dusche und Türen zu den großen Rundum-Deck mit dem schönen, überdachten Whirlpool mit Blick auf die umliegenden Berge und Skipiste unten. Die Hauptebene hat auch ein kleineres 2. Schlafzimmer mit Kingsize-Bett, Kabel-TV (Smart-TV) und Badezimmer (Dusche / Badewanne). Im Obergeschoss befindet sich ein Kingsize-Schlafzimmer mit Panoramafenstern, um die Berge und den Spielbereich im Hof zu sehen. Es verfügt über ein Kingsize-Bett, Kabel-Smart-TV, einen Schaukelstuhl und Pack and Play. Das zweite Schlafzimmer im Obergeschoss verfügt über 2 Doppelbetten und einen Smart-TV. Es gibt ein komplettes Badezimmer mit begehbarer Dusche im Obergeschoss. Alle Matratzen und Boxspringbetten sind zu Ihrer Sicherheit in zertifizierte Bettwanzenschutzhüllen eingeschlossen. Der Hof ist groß und relativ flach mit einem Spielplatz für Kinder und Bänke, um die Aussicht zu genießen. Wir haben eine Feuerstelle im Hinterhof zum Braten von Hotdogs und Marshmallows. The house was the perfect setup. Plenty of dishes, glassware....also they had all the little things you don't think of. Dish soap, hand soap, trash bags, aluminum foil. It felt like being invited to a friend's house who had everything you needed. They had plenty of towels and blankets. The gas logs were the best after spending the days on the slopes. We've always stayed in the banner elk area, but this house was so much better. We were in the mountains, but super close to stores and restaurants and we truly discovered the town of blowing rock being so close. This is a must stay for families.

We had a lovely stay in Blowing Rock. The house is nicely situated close to Boone and Tweetsie Railroad. The house was clean, beds comfy, and very well stocked with plenty of towels, dishes, soap, trash bags, etc. The reclining sofa and loveseat was a major plus since one family member is disabled and needs to have legs propped up. It’s really hard to find rentals with reclining seating and plenty of living space. Karen, the host, was also very communicative. Would definitely recommend this house to friends.

Beautiful vacation home

We have stayed here a couple of times and it is beautiful and comfortable. Has plenty of room with a great living / dining area and kitchen. Large master BR and the view is so pretty. The house was perfect for our family needs. Everyone had their own space and were able to do as they pleased. Some enjoyed the outdoor area while others enjoyed the indoor space, but could see outdoors through the large windows. All the amenities were there. View was awesome. We used the hot tub and the grill. We saw deer, turkey, chipmunks, and humming birds and one person in our family interrupted a bear raiding our garbage. It was perfect! Temperature was lovely( we're from Florida)! We were pleasantly surprised that we got to see the rhododendrons blooming around the house. They were beautiful! We would love to go back again.

Returning stay

This was the second time our family stayed for vacation, and we were excited to go back since the first time was during Covid. We love the location, and the views! If you love trains, you can hear Tweetsie RR whistle throughout the day. The inside is clean, and the bedrooms are well accommodating. Like some other reviews the outside could use some updating. I was disappointed that the deck chairs were dirty and unable to use them. There is a problem with the AC not working properly. The owner notified us several days before our arrival that there had been a problem reported. She offered a full refund, but it was too last minute for us to make other plans. She did have it checked while we were there. Downstairs wasn't too bad because the temps outside were great, but upstairs was warm.The house is a great location, and the Walmart in Boone does delivery!!!We had a great time anyways and worked it out!!!!

Family Reunion III

This was the third year in a row that we stayed at this fabulous venue. We have become so familiar with the property that our grandkids consider it their "Mountain House". This year was a bit different because our oldest grandaughter was getting married. While it kept the entire family busy it was another added event to our busy family reunion weekend (Tweetsie, Tubing on the New River, Pancake Breakfast, Hot Tubbing). The location and size of this venue is perfect for us. Each family has their own bedroom/bathroom...a great arrangement for downtime. We hope to return for many years in the future.

Great Stay in Blowing Rock

We stayed here for 4 days with family just before Christmas in Dec 2024. The listing was very accurate and all communication with the host was answered very quickly. I thought the price was reasonable compared to other listings in the area. The size was perfect for 5 adults and 3 kids. This home is located in Blowing Rock very close to Appalachian Ski Mountain. We are not skiers but I could see how this home would be ideal for someone coming to ski. The view is outstanding and we saw some pretty incredible sunrises. It snowed one night while we were there and the host had a crew stop by and shovel the driveway for us. The home is clean and tastefully decorated. There are plenty of amenities available (large deck, fire pit, hot tub, etc) but we were too busy to use most of them. We visited the Tweetsie Christmas Railroad about 10 minutes away and the kids loved it. We also went shopping in Blowing Rock and tubing at Hawks Nest about 30 minutes away. Boone is also a short drive away and has some very good restaurants (don't miss the Daniel Boone Inn for a family style dinner). If you are looking for a quiet getaway with a terrific view, this is it. Karen is a terrific host and we will definitely consider this home again for a family vacation.

Tweetsie Christmas

This was a great place to stay for a family of 10 ranging in ages 2-82. Everything we needed and plenty of space. The house was very clean and is in an excellent location. We were very close to Tweetsie and surrounding attractions/shopping in Blowing Rock and Boone. Owners were also very accommodating in letting us stay a few hours longer because of ice.

While vacationing in Blowing Rock, my parents fell in love with the area and decided to begin looking for a home there. They found this home, but it needed a good bit of work. The mountain view was so wonderful though, they decided to purchase the home and begin renovations. They added an extra bedroom and full bath, put on the deck, bought a hot tub and added gas logs. They started on their landscaping projects soon thereafter and have continually added things to make the home more comfortable, while maintain its home-like feel. It was a second home for them and they decided to share it with guests who also enjoy a clean, comfortable home where they can relax and feel at home themselves, at an affordable cost.

Since that time, my parents have passed away, leaving the home in the care of our family. My husband and I take care of their home and enjoy working with the families who have come for many years, as well as welcoming the new guests who are visiting for the first time. Our home is child and dog friendly.

Many families come each year, making memories and spending time with their own families as they continue the tradition. Appalachian Ski Mt is in our neighborhood--just down the mountain from our back yard and we are a 5-minute drive from Tweetsie. Our home is located midway between Boone and Blowing Rock, so it convenient for Appalachian State University and all of the fun places in a nice college town as well as convenient for the unique restaurants and the scenic town of Blowing Rock.

My husband and I live in Greensboro, NC--a two-hour drive from our mountain home. Fortunately, we have excellent assistance with our incredible housekeeping team and handyman team and snow-clearing staff in the winter. We love having return guests and appreciate their suggestions on things they'd like us to add to our home for their next visit. Suggestions are encouraged and welcomed! We love our home and want you to love it as well.

We love our neighborhood because it is very beautiful with trees and flowers and has gorgeous mountain views.
While you are here, you feel that you have really escaped from the noise and traffic, and busyness of life, yet you are 5 to 10 minutes away from all of the conveniences of modern life. There is a little neighborhood "library" with a bench that is a lovely place to sit and read or just commune with nature.

Note: It is a 10-minute drive from Boone or Blowing Rock to our home. As you enter the neighborhood you will see the streets (about 1 mile's distance) are more narrow and somewhat curvy as you ascend the mountain. Two cars can pass if driving slowly. During wintery weather (snow and ice) the streets are scraped twice each day, but driving can be challenging. You may wish to consider 4-wheel drive based on your driving experience and comfort level. Our driveway is cleared during inclement weather.
