This historic home was built in 1870 by the Webbs. It was originally built down the hill where the lake is now. (When the water level drops you can still see the giant tree stumps from the two trees that were in the front yard). When the lake was built in late 50's, the owners of the house had it moved uphill so the house could be saved from impending flooding. Since they were then going to get a view of the lake, they turned the home so that the porches faced the new lake. The Poland family that purchased the property in the 1980's added glass to the front porches for four season enjoyment. The original front of the home, my favorite, faces the woods and has two OLD gigantic Magnolia tress; hence the name The Magnolia House. We bought it in 2017 and opened her up for events and for leisure travel.
This is such a great property. It's included with the following properties: "The Magnolia House Compound" that sleeps 58 (Property ID 2096520) and the Magnolia Overlook resort that sleeps 93 (4114390). We host many events ranging from weddings, church retreats, corporate retreats, to family reunions. "The Magnolia Suite" is opened up only if either of those listing are not booked. Doing this allows some smaller groups (like yours) to be able to experience The Magnolia House property at our little slice of heaven we call "Magnolia Overlook". We also have many other smaller units on this property, sleeping anywhere from 4-10 guests. Interested? Ask us for more info.
Just to make sure you know what you are booking: you have a portion of the upper level of this home. There is another unit that includes the entire lower level of the house and one bedroom upstairs. You are NOT renting the entire home. They are separated by a locked door and have separate entrances. Just to be clear, this listing is NOT the entire house. :-) Just want to make sure there are no surprises.
