There are a lot of really good ideas in play here. It's a great location with minimal traffic noise. The house looked clean on check-in and we had no problem getting lock codes or addresses from the host. The kids loved the hot tub, Mortal Kombat, and playing pool. The adults loved the proximity to emergency groceries from Dollar General and how quick it was to get up on skis at Crystal Mountain. As we started settling into the house, though, we started to notice minor problems. There was nothing glaringly out-of-joint like dirty beds or a lack of hot water so none of it felt like it was enough of an obstacle to warrant contacting the owner for relief, but this is an honest review. The most frustrating issue we faced was a waterlogged hot tub cover that didn't have a roll bar to help remove it, so 2 adults had to muscle the cover off (filled with water and ice) and then back up onto the tub without damaging the nearby fence. Not an easy job! We also found holes in doors and walls, broken blinds in nearly every room, dangerously wobbly ceiling fans, and a cache of scorched and scratched pots and pans that were too sketchy to use.If you're just looking for somewhere to crash and you're not overly concerned with cosmetic stuff, this place really is great. It truly has a lot going for it. If you're looking for thoughtful amenities in a well-maintained property that's reflective of its price-per-night, this is not the place for you.
